The next day.
The news of Ryu's departure from the basketball club spread throughout the entire club in a short time.
Even other schools heard the rumors.
Everyone in the Teiko basketball club was shocked, finding it hard to believe such a thing could happen.
When the assistant coach heard the news, he nearly choked on his tea.
He immediately went to Akashi, wanting to understand the reason.
No one knew what Akashi and the assistant coach had discussed.
Everyone only knew that from that day on, the assistant coach rarely inquired about the Generation of Miracles.
As for the reason for Ryu's departure, the basketball club members had many different opinions.
Those who knew the situation naturally connected it to what had happened in the gymnasium that day.
Those who didn't know the situation only felt that Teiko was missing Ryu.
And that was indeed the case.
Without Ryu, everyone in the basketball club felt that something was missing.
The players' morale was noticeably lower.
After yesterday's events, Kuroko was utterly dejected. His entire being was seemingly withered, the light that once shone in his eyes was gone, and his emotions plummeted to rock bottom.
After Ryu left yesterday, Kuroko went to see Aomine.
He wanted to persuade Aomine to change his mind.
But things didn't go as planned.
This had left Kuroko in his current state.
Besides Aomine, the person he was most grateful to was Ryu.
He wanted to ask Ryu for help.
But what stunned him was the news that Ryu had quit the basketball club and dropped out of Teiko Middle School.
This was undoubtedly a bolt from the blue.
He stood there for a full half hour, unable to process what had happened.
When Kuroko left, his eyes were filled with despair.
Ryu's departure from Teiko Middle School was a well-considered decision.
The curriculum at Teiko Middle School was something he had already mastered in his previous life.
So he applied to the school for early graduation.
Graduating early naturally required an assessment.
The result was as Ryu had expected.
He graduated from Teiko Middle School with near-perfect scores in all subjects.
When the basketball team learned that Ryu had left Teiko, everyone fell silent.
The members of the Generation of Miracles were also surprised for a moment, but quickly concealed it.
No one knew what they were thinking.
Akashi simply uttered one word:
"Understood."
His thoughts remained unknown.
When he saw Ryu's resignation letter, he merely glanced at it without any emotion and then ignored it.
Everyone could sense that the team was much more solemn than before.
A strange sense of oppression permeated the entire basketball club.
Meanwhile, after leaving Teiko, Ryu stayed home for two days to fully recover.
He used those two days to recharge.
He planned a long trip to travel around Japan, treating it as a vacation.
This would also make it easier for him to search for the colorful orbs.
Ryu only packed some changes of clothes and daily necessities; the rest of his money was on his credit card.
When traveling, you absolutely cannot be without money.
Fortunately, his parents had left him a credit card with a substantial credit limit before going abroad.
After taking one last look at their home, Ryu and Karupin finally embarked on their unknown journey.
Time passed quickly, the moon rose and the sun set.
Ryu spent a week wandering around various parts of Tokyo.
Now, the diameter of the safe distance between him and Karupin exceeded 800,000 meters.
During the competition, Karupin had absorbed a lot of energy.
Although there wasn't as much cat food as before, this actually resulted in Ryu reaping even more benefits.
Karupin could sense the existence of those colorful light orbs, so Ryu only needed to cover as much of the Tokyo area as possible.
However, things didn't go as planned.
Ryu had been wandering around Tokyo for a week and still hadn't found a single sign.
"Hey! You weren't actually trying to sense it, were you?" Ryu looked at Karupin with suspicion.
Seeing Ryu's suspicious gaze, Karupin immediately became displeased.
"You dare doubt me? You're asking for trouble!"
Uh…
Ryu's eyelids twitched.
"I was just saying, don't take it seriously."
Ryu really couldn't afford to offend this lord.
Karupin snorted coldly, raising his haughty cat head, and said irritably, "Do you think they are like cabbages? Something you can just find whenever you want? If it were that easy, we wouldn't have bothered coming out to search."
"You're right!" Ryu chuckled, scratching his head somewhat guiltily.
The driver, hearing Ryu's silly laughter in the back, saw his strange behavior in the rearview mirror, and his eyes filled with sympathy.
If Ryu knew what the driver was thinking, he would definitely throw Karupin at him to scratch him.
'This won't do, it's a complete waste of time.'
Ryu thought for a moment, then transmitted his thoughts to Karupin.
"How about we go somewhere else? We've basically searched all of Tokyo. How about we check out the surrounding towns next?"
"Whatever you want, go wherever you want. As long as it's within a safe distance, I have no objection."
Hearing Karupin's words, Ryu's lips twitched.
'This damn cat is really heartless. Doesn't it care at all if I'm tired? Who's the pet here?'
He had an urge to throw Karupin out of the car window.
As dusk settled, only the last rays of sunlight lingered.
Ryu, having finished a day's taxi ride, arrived at his hotel, his body stiff and exhausted.
"I heard there's an outdoor amusement park nearby hosting an event, apparently a competition. Anyone with a skill—whether it's tennis, basketball, soccer, table tennis… or anything else—can win a pretty good prize! Shall we go check it out tomorrow?" Ryu said as soon as he entered, while Karupin jumped onto the bed.
Karupin stretched and said, "Tennis, huh? I really miss it! Let's go check it out tomorrow! I want to see what level tennis is at in this world."
Ryu was somewhat speechless.
This wasn't the world of Prince of Tennis; this was the world of Kuroko's Basketball.
How much development could tennis possibly have here?
Ahem…
He coughed twice and then said, "I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. This world is all about basketball. Tennis can't compare to your world. You'd better not have too high expectations."
"Oh," Karupin responded, then its large, sapphire-like eyes darted around as it spoke. "Why don't you sign up and teach them what tennis is all about?"
Ryu's eyes widened, staring at Karupin in disbelief.
"Are you kidding me?! Me, playing tennis? My skills aren't great. Besides, I'm traumatized by tennis now. In my past life, I was transported to this world after an accident while playing tennis."
Karupin looked at Ryu with some surprise.
"Is that so? Then your opponent must be really strong."
Karupin subconsciously assumed that Ryu's opponent must have used some incredible finishing move.
Because in its world, many finishing moves were extremely powerful.
Things like knocking away rackets, breaking through wire fences, or smashing a wall into a deep dent... those were all perfectly normal.
Injuries, fractures, bleeding, and even unconsciousness were commonplace.
If Ryu knew what Karupin was thinking, he would surely cough up three liters of blood and cry out, "Alas!"
