Chapter 8 - [Chapter 8 ● The Lines of Fate!]

"All this happened to me without me knowing how or when, meaning you practically violated my very soul! No, my very consciousness and existence by doing all of this without my consent, Calamity!" She yelled with a fierce glare.

He blinked, truly perplexed by how this woman's thoughts worked.

"What are you saying, stupid woman? When, or better yet, how did I violate your soul?" He countered in a defensive tone. "I was practically unconscious because of you. Not to mention, it was your Will itself who subconsciously helped in the restoration of your destroyed soul."

He stated the facts plainly.

"Whereas, me, I don't even understand half of the things you uttered, so there is nothing you will get from me because I myself don't know anything. I'm as clueless as you, or maybe even more," he voiced, venting out his own deep frustrations.

"The only thing I can tell you is that when the oath was established, the process of your soul restoration had begun automatically. Meaning, I don't know how I was able to restore your destroyed soul, but I suppose it has something to do with the passive effect of one of my sub-abilities of one of my abilities! Anyways, the only thing I got from this oath is a mere rank Ascension in my spiritual and material Ascension ranks, whereas you get a whole new life, a complete resurrection with both your soul restored completely and the recreation of your body awaiting!"

He commented in an irritated voice with an irked expression on his face. "So keep your stupid assumptions to yourself, annoying woman."

Meanwhile, Clementine, completely ignoring his long speech and her previous accusation, focused entirely on something else she heard from him. "What? What do you mean, recreation of my body?" She questioned sharply.

"Are you also capable of recreating a physical body for me, aside from restoring my soul?" Clementine asked, her brow arched in surprise again.

"Of course, I can. Now, who do you think I am!" he retorted immediately, repeating one of her previous sentences with a smirk.

He had not forgotten any of her words or remarks, or anything else for that matter. "Anyways, since you don't want to keep this supposed slave contract, I'd much rather focus my time on myself than waste it on you, woman!"

"So you can go back to my soul if you're done here, or annul this unwanted contract if you possibly can, because I don't care and I don't know how to, woman!" He added flatly.

Clementine smirked at his fiery response, clearly entertained. "Don't try to act tough before me, Calamity; you do know that I can feel your emotions just as you can feel mine, correct?" she teased with a light chuckle.

"In any case, that ability of yours that brought you to me despite the Lines of Fate trying to prevent the meeting is certainly a strong one. It could sense the presence of the dead, 'Me,' from so far away, and knew that an oath with me would undoubtedly make you stronger—stronger in both the aspects of knowledge and power!"

"Through my knowledge as a rank ten Divine Entity, you would have a far easier time in your path towards Transcendence, and then ascending to Divinity, as compared to when you do not have me, Calamity. Moreover, just so you know, I'm not your average Divine Entity out there! Although I don't like to boast, none can deny in this wide realm or the whole of the outside universe that I'm strong—an absurdly strong entity!"

Clementine declared proudly before the mortal Calamity, her posture reflecting her immense pride.

"Why do you think I had so many other Divine Entities hunting me down? In fact, I slaughtered several of them too before getting killed myself despite all my abilities and strength!" she boasted, her crimson eyes flashing with old pride.

Evidently, he knew that the woman was boasting, but he also couldn't refute her words since he also knew that whatever she said was a hundred percent true, all because of their abstract soul connection. So he also couldn't help but admit that he was indeed amazed on learning of the kind of strength she declared she had.

However, all that admiration washed away the next second, replaced with sudden solemnity, when he realized that in spite of Clementine's formidable strength as a Divine Entity, rivaling many other Divine Entities' strength combined—beings who had reached the zenith of Ascension—she still died in the end. Meaning she was still weak regardless of how strong she said she was; that strength wasn't enough to even keep her alive.

Meanwhile, Clementine, on sensing his dark emotions, quickly changed the subject. "Forget that, Calamity; don't worry yourself over nothing and distract your mind with problems way above your current level. I'd say you do have a potential much greater than mine from what little you've shown me up until now. Consequently, since our souls are already connected, I'll help you realize that potential while also working on my own strengths to surpass and become stronger than my previous self."

She smiled, matching her deep crimson gaze with his calm crimson eyes. "Therefore, to that end, let's start from the beginning. First, we'll focus on your name; I can't just keep calling you Calamity all the time, and you should also stop addressing me as the outsider woman or strange woman. I have a name, you know: Clementine Eyth Lifeblood," she stated in a not-so-happy tone.

"In fact, you should feel proud that you're one of the few that know my actual name, and amongst the even fewer who get to address me directly by it!"

Exhaling, she continued further.

"Back to the topic. Afterwards, as you said, you will create a body for me, and then we will talk about your abilities and other stuff in some more details while we explore this forest, trying to find a portal out of this realm or a city inside that will help much in our growth! Mmm! There is also the question about—do you even know what place this is?" Clementine raised her brows, questioning curiously.

He, while looking past her first statement, still responded to what she uttered at the end. "Of course, I know what this realm is; I was born here, literally! This is my birthplace."

"Fine. Now tell me, what name do you want me to call you with, or do you have anything specific in mind that you want to name yourself as!" She asked with interest.

Stumped, he scratched his head. "That... I don't know!" Answering in a confounding tone, he looked at Clementine as an idea suddenly struck him. "How about this: as my first companion, I'll give you the honor of naming me, Clementine Eyth Lifeblood," he suggested.

"My, how flattering!" Whereas Clementine, she certainly became amused on hearing his words. Her lips arched into a graceful line. Chuckling softly, she nodded. "Fufufu~ Alright, I will accept this honor with grace and give you a befitting name, Dear Master~" she whispered playfully.

He couldn't tell if she was being serious or playful about this, but he gave her the benefit of the doubt and trusted her to come up with a good name for him.

A minute passed. The silence between them stretched continuously.
