He began doing as he was instructed, closing his eyes and focusing on the jumbled Information that had come into his head upon his birth and had stayed like that even until now. Indeed, previously he hadn't gone through any of it, since just a few minutes after his birth, he was on the run, concealing his presence, avoiding the calamities lurking in the forest, and making his way here while trying to adapt to his new environment as quickly and as much as possible. In all this, he had even forgotten about his need for food and water. It just goes to show how much he had been trying to keep up with all that had been happening around him, even forgetting about the basic needs of a mortal.
Nonetheless, as a Calamity, his biology was vastly different from other mortals, and as he had just advanced in both his Ascension ranks, as the outsider woman called them, his body had also gained enough Energy to sustain itself for at least a week without any food or water, or at least that was what he believed anyways.
It took him about a little more than half an hour to sort through all the jumbled Information he had in his head and organize it. During this time, no one disturbed him either, since the place he was in currently was a safe zone all things considered, because of the presence from the skeletons of the dead dragons. It had all the savage calamities that neared it scared out of their wits after all.
"Alright... I think I'm done!" he muttered, opening his eyes. "Now, where do we begin with?" He asked in a flat tone.
[Mmm! Took you long enough...] Clementine projected her thoughts within his soul sea. [...never mind that, summon me now. I think you should be capable of doing that, now that you have a bit more understanding towards your own abilities!]
"Okay..."
He stood up and used a sub-ability of his Ability Effect Five, of one of his hidden abilities, and raised his hand forward to summon her, even speaking the word aloud.
"Summon!" He commanded in a firm voice.
And just like that, the curvaceous figure of a beautiful woman with long flowing, waist-reaching crimson-red hair and deep red eyes materialized directly before him. However, the act of summoning this crimson beauty resulted in the instant consumption of a whopping thirty percent of his Energy from both his cores combined. It was a strange sensation, even giving him a momentary feeling of weakness, considering this was his first time utilizing such a large amount of Energy in one go.
"Hmm... this body is quite bizarre. I feel funny!" Clementine muttered, examining herself with a curious and interested gaze.
"I can feel and touch the matter and the physical despite being made of mere Energy. On top of that, I think I'm not an undead either, perhaps closer to a spiritual entity who has awakened their physical form. How truly interesting!" She added with a look of pure wonder.
Her lips curled slightly. Clementine never thought that a day would come when she would actually compare herself with the living dead, or the unique entities who were born with no physical matter.
"Mm..." He squinted his eyes. "...just as I thought, your destroyed soul has been restored completely," he echoed in a faint voice. Nodding his head, his bright eyes examined the female before him. He was truly fascinated too. To think he was capable of bringing the dead back to life, not as an undead but actually alive with a beating heart and all.
Even though there was still one step left towards bringing Clementine truly back to life, still, as he glanced at the dragon bones behind her, he realized he had the perfect material for sacrifice to create a body for her, thus granting her true life. He was capable of doing all this even as he was right now. Truly a miraculous feat, no matter how or from which angle one looked at it.
"What the... you truly did recreate my soul from scratch, Calamity, but how?" Clementine, startled, questioned in an unconscious manner, her voice cracking slightly. "It was destroyed by energies beyond your understanding; you shouldn't be capable of doing this!"
Her eyes narrowed, fixed tightly on him.
"Moreover, how come I didn't realize this change at all? It shouldn't be possible. After all, I'm someone who had reached the tenth Ascension rank when I was alive, so how can a mortal be able to do this, recreating my soul completely? Just where did you get the Energy for such a monumental task, Calamity?" She demanded in a sharp, demanding tone.
Clementine was truly stunned this time. Her mind had many, many questions; it was confused as things that a mortal should never be capable of doing were being accomplished by an ignorant, day-old, weak Calamity, who didn't even realize the significance of his own subconscious actions. At last, even this ancient woman had completely lost her bearing, her eyes wide open. She was truly baffled and speechless. The more her mind worked to make sense of this reasonably impossible situation, the more conjectures she drew, the more confused she became. Perhaps having too much knowledge also wasn't always a good thing.
She looked into his eyes, her stern gaze demanding answers, as her mind wasn't capable of thinking of anything that could have made this impossible possible. More like she had come to too many assumptions and theories, but none had the answer to the question she faced. Since, even she was capable of soul restoration when alive, but her shock and question mainly came from the difference between their Ascension ranks.
Even though currently she was nothing but a tangible Will adamantly remaining in this world and refusing to leave for the reincarnation cycle because of her deep-seated hatred and desire for vengeance, nevertheless, that still did not explain how the weak Ascension rank one Calamity was able to restore her soul of Ascension rank ten, which had been destroyed completely by the ones who killed her. The mere weight of such a task was monumental.
"Wait a minute..." Clementine's eyes narrowed as she examined her soul more thoroughly and quickly came to a sudden realization.
"My soul rank has fallen directly from Ascension rank ten to Ascension rank one. Also, as though to compensate for the insufficient Energy, my own Will has weakened itself and permanently sacrificed a major part of its essence that made it what it was—a rank ten soul—to generate enough Energy to complete my soul restoration."
She came to another plausible answer. "A subconscious process that began without my knowledge when you forcefully established the contract with me," she whispered in an astonished voice.
Clementine gazed at him, but this time with a smile of genuine gratitude, since in her mind, with her soul back, it was only a matter of time before she fully recreated her body too. In other words, she would be essentially resurrecting herself from the dead, a task that very few were capable of accomplishing.
Then she had a thought, making her gratitude instantly plummet to the bottom. Of course, he also noticed such a sudden and evident change in Clementine's expression, and even felt how her feelings of gratitude vanished in an instant.
'What now?'
