Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Divinity of the Damned

The atmosphere in Eldoria had transitioned from mere tension to a thick, suffocating miasma of existential dread. The sky was no longer a natural blue; it was a fractured mosaic of deep indigo and neon-violet, with jagged cracks of golden static bleeding through the "code" of the firmament. To the common folk, it looked like the end of the world. To Kaelen, it looked like a flickering monitor nearing its breaking point.

Standing atop the highest spire of the Imperial Palace, Kaelen watched as the three Arch-Administrators descended. They weren't descending as physical bodies, but as three massive, glowing geometric shapes—a Sphere, a Cube, and a Tetrahedron—each humming with a frequency that made the stone beneath his feet vibrate with a low, mournful groan.

[System Warning: TRIPLE ARCH-ENTITY DETECTION.]

[Status: 'The Council of Architects' has arrived.]

[Threat Level: World-Erasure.]

[Reality Integrity: 72% (Dropping).]

Kaelen leaned heavily on his raven-topped cane, though he no longer needed the support. His Level 26 body felt like a coiled spring of Abyssal mana, his veins pulsing with the stolen essence of the Collector. Behind him, Elara stood with a silver basin of enchanted water, her eyes reflecting the chaotic sky. She looked like a priestess of a dying religion.

"Master," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the hum of the descending gods. "The [Despair Well] is at maximum capacity. The dungeons are overflowing with the terror of the nobility. The commoners are wailing in the streets. The mana-lines are... they're screaming."

"Good," Kaelen said, a thin, predatory smile touching his lips. "Let them scream. Their screams are the bricks of my fortress. Elara, tell the 'Iron Saints' to take their positions at the ley-line nodes. We aren't going to fight these 'Architects' with swords. We're going to fight them with their own logic."

[Passive Harvest: 'Global Terror'... +3,500 Points/Hour.]

[Current Balance: 16,280 Points.]

Kaelen raised his hand, and the Black Seal on his finger flared with a blinding purple light.

"System," he commanded, his voice resonating through the cracks in reality. "Expend 15,000 points. Activate [Hollow Kingdom: Domain Expansion - Phase 2: The Silent Maw]."

[Points Deducted: 15,000.]

[Current Balance: 1,280.]

[Domain Initializing...]

Suddenly, the city of Eldoria didn't just change; it inverted. The white marble of the palace turned into a translucent, obsidian glass. The streets began to flow like liquid shadows, and the thousands of citizens kneeling in the square were suddenly connected to Kaelen by shimmering, violet threads of despair.

Kaelen wasn't just their Regent anymore. He was their central processing unit. He was the server, and they were the data.

The three Arch-Administrators paused mid-descent. The Sphere—the leader of the trio—emitted a sound like a thousand violins snapping at once.

"The Glitch has grown a shell," a voice boomed, vibrating directly in the marrow of Kaelen's bones. It wasn't spoken; it was a broadcast into his consciousness. "Unit Kaelen, you have exceeded the parameters of the 100th Harvest. Your soul is a corruption. Your kingdom is a cancer. We have come to 'Format' this sector."

"Format?" Kaelen laughed, the sound amplified by the [Despair Well]. "You talk as if I'm a file you forgot to delete. I am the one who killed your Collector. I am the one who tasted your essence. You aren't here to 'format' me. You're here because you're afraid the farm is starting to bite back."

The Tetrahedron—the Architect of Law—pulsed with a harsh, golden light.

"Logic Error. A harvest cannot bite. A harvest is a resource. We will now reset the clock. Oakhaven will return. The Hero will rise. And you... you will be forgotten."

The golden light from the Tetrahedron expanded, a wave of "Reset Energy" that was meant to turn Eldoria back into a peaceful, sunny morning before the tragedy. It was the ultimate weapon—a complete erasure of the timeline.

But as the golden wave hit the boundaries of the [Hollow Kingdom], it didn't wash over the city. It was swallowed.

[System Notification: 'The Silent Maw' is consuming 'Reset Data'.]

[Mana Conversion: +50,000 Units.]

[Warning: Soul-Overload imminent!]

Kaelen groaned, his eyes bleeding violet ichor. His skin began to crack, revealing a void of purple fire beneath. The "Reset" wasn't working because Kaelen had turned Eldoria into a "Hollow Space"—a place that officially "didn't exist" in the System's records. You cannot reset a file that the computer can't find.

"My turn," Kaelen hissed, his voice sounding like two stones grinding together.

He looked at Hollow Knight - Zero, who was standing at the North Gate. "Zero! Trigger the 'Sacrifice'!"

At the ley-line nodes around the city, the fourteen "quarantined" nobles were suddenly consumed by the violet mana-lines. Their bodies didn't burn; they simply dissolved into pure, concentrated grief. This was the "High-Yield" harvest Kaelen had been preparing.

[System Notification: SACRIFICE COMPLETE.]

[Yield: 100,000 Despair Points (One-time Multiplier).]

[New Feature Unlocked: 'Scythe of the Void' (S-Rank Weapon).]

In Kaelen's hand, his ebony cane shattered. In its place, a massive scythe materialized. The blade was made of a material that looked like frozen smoke, and the handle was carved from the bones of the Great Tree of Oakhaven. It hummed with a hunger that made the Arch-Administrators tremble in the air.

"Impossible," the Cube—the Architect of Matter—pulsed. "A Level 26 entity cannot manifest an S-Rank Concept. The math is incorrect!"

"The math is whatever I say it is," Kaelen roared.

He didn't fly; he stepped through a glitch in space, appearing instantly in front of the Cube. He swung the [Scythe of the Void].

The blade didn't cut the Cube's surface. It cut its Value.

[Skill Active: 'Code-Breaker's Touch' + 'Scythe of the Void'.]

[Target 'Cube' Property Change: 'Indestructible' -> 'Fragmented'.]

The Cube let out a sound like a mountain collapsing. Its geometric edges began to blur and melt, leaking golden static like blood. Kaelen reached into the wound, his hand glowing with a terrifying, hungry violet light.

"I'm not a hero, and I'm not a villain," Kaelen whispered, his face inches from the dying god-shape. "I'm the error in your code that you should have fixed three years ago."

He ripped a core-shard from the Cube's center.

[System Notification: ARCH-ESSENCE CONSUMED.]

[Level Up! Level 26 -> Level 32!]

[Level Up! Level 32 -> Level 38!]

[Attribute Points Gained: 100.]

The Cube exploded into a million golden fragments, which were instantly sucked into the [Despair Well] below. The city of Eldoria groaned as the ground itself began to rise, the palace floating above the liquid-shadow streets.

The Sphere and the Tetrahedron retreated, their glowing shapes flickering with something that looked suspiciously like fear.

"The Glitch has evolved," the Sphere broadcasted. "Emergency Protocol: 'World-Collapse'. If we cannot harvest the Field, we will salt the earth. We will burn the multiverse to kill one bug."

"You're welcome to try," Kaelen said, his new Scythe resting on his shoulder. His eyes were now entirely purple, no iris or pupil remaining. He looked at Elara on the balcony below. "Elara! Prepare the Emperor. We need a 'Holy Shield' to survive the World-Collapse. Tell him his Empire needs one last sacrifice."

Kaelen looked up at the remaining two gods. He felt the System in his head trying to "Reboot" him, trying to force him back into the role of a "Sidekick," but the Scythe was too heavy. The Despair was too thick.

"System," Kaelen commanded, his voice now a chorus of a thousand stolen souls. "Update the Storyline. Title the next chapter: 'The Death of the Architects'."

The sky continued to crack. The stars continued to fall. But in the center of the breaking world, the God-Regent stood tall, his Scythe ready to reap the very gods who had created him.
