Chapter 71 - A Mission of Certain Death

Onoki: "Is it useless even to reshape the terrain?"

Senju Tobirama: "Is it possible that the terrain you reshaped simply wasn't large or extreme enough!"

Senju Tobirama did not believe that the power of those Honkai Beasts was infinite. When a mountain was high enough and the sea deep enough, even a Honkai Beast would be imprisoned!

Onoki: "It's possible, but the power of a Ninja has its limits. If we were given enough time to prepare..."

Onoki: "Fortunately, a Beast Tide hasn't erupted yet. We still have room to turn things around!"

Rasa: "It seems we in Sunagakure must also make early preparations."

A: "By the way, since our Kumogakure is nestled among the mountains, the threat from Honkai Beasts shouldn't be that great, right?"

Onoki: "Perhaps, but you'd better prepare in advance anyway."

["Even if the results are negligible, they are better than nothing. As long as we keep harassing and luring them, we can always force the Beast Tide to change direction!"

Baki's words made Rasa stop hesitating.

"I will lead this mission personally. Every Jonin in Sunagakure will be mobilized. No matter the cost, we must divert the Beast Tide. We absolutely cannot let them discover Sunagakure!"

"Yes!"

"All Jonin, assemble at the village entrance in half an hour!"

"Understood!"

As the meeting adjourned, Rasa sat back in his seat and looked at his children, who had stayed behind, watching him with worried eyes.

"Don't worry. I can fly, so I have a natural advantage. Even those flying Honkai Beasts might not be able to harm me!" His tone softened with a rare gentleness.

"Come to think of it, Gaara has grown quite a bit. Even without Shukaku, he's become more responsible."

"Fa... Father."

Listening to Rasa's reflection, Temari instinctively felt something was wrong.

The way her father looked now felt foreign to them.

"Don't worry. I will definitely return."

Half an hour later, Rasa looked at the assembled Jonin of Sunagakure. Looking at this group of subordinates he was about to lead down a path of death, even Rasa—who was once willing to sacrifice his own son for the sake of the village—felt a flash of hesitation in his eyes.

This mission was different from ordinary ones; even an S-rank Mission was not a ten-thousandth as dangerous as this. It could be called certain death.

"I won't waste words. Since you are standing here, I assume you have already made your resolve." Rasa's voice was loud—loud enough that not only the Jonin but also the other Ninjas and civilians who had gathered after noticing the unusual assembly could hear him.

"You may already know that a Beast Tide has emerged within the Land of Wind. Everywhere they go, they leave nothing but ruins. And now, they are heading for Sunagakure!"

As soon as these words were spoken, the Jonin who had already received the news didn't react much, but the others erupted into chaos.

They hadn't known that the Honkai Beasts were heading for Sunagakure.

"What! The Beast Tide is coming toward Sunagakure?"

"It's over, it's all over. I heard those Honkai Beasts are terrifying. They've already carved through several small nations, and who knows how many people died."

"Didn't they say Sunagakure was safe? What do we do now?"

"SILENCE!!!" Rasa gave a great shout, instantly quieting the crowd.

Everyone looked at Rasa. Faintly, a flicker of hope appeared in their eyes.

That's right, the Kazekage was taking the Jonin. Were they going to deal with those Honkai Beasts?

Did this mean they were safe?

"Behind us is Sunagakure, our home, and all the civilians who came here for refuge. For their sake, we must not let those Honkai Beasts discover the village!"

"Therefore, I will lead the team personally to lure the Beast Tide elsewhere. In this mission, we only accept success, not failure!"

Looking at the fearless faces of the Jonin, Rasa turned and faced the vast, barren Desert.

"Move out!"

Atop the walls of Sunagakure, Temari and Kankuro watched their father and the Jonin step into the yellow sands with worry.

Of those who left, no one knew how many would return.

In fact, it was possible that not a single person would come back...

"Father, everyone... you must come back!"]

A: "Rasa, you're quite a man!"

Temari: "Father, you must return safely."

Rasa: "Er... hasn't the Beast Tide not happened on our side yet?"

Temari: "Sorry, the atmosphere was just right... I couldn't help myself."

[Among the rolling yellow sands, a group of people pushed forward against the wind and dust.

In this desolate Desert, they were not wandering aimlessly; they had a clear goal, heading toward a massive Beast Tide capable of destroying a small nation!

Their mission was to catch the attention of the Beast Tide and lead them to change direction, ensuring the safety of Sunagakure!

"Chirp—"

Just then, a falcon descended from the sky, landing on a Jonin's arm.

"My Ninja Beast reports that we aren't far from the Beast Tide!" the Jonin said.

"Very good. Check your equipment and recover your strength. Next, we have a hard battle to fight!"

Rumble...

They didn't have to wait long. Accompanied by the tremors of the yellow sand beneath their feet, the herd arrived!

Logically, since they were on soft yellow sand, general vibrations shouldn't travel very far. However, because there were so many massive Honkai Beasts in the tide, and their numbers were vast, their movements kicked up sand all around them and sent the tremors miles away!

When Rasa and the others finally saw the Honkai Beasts, they collectively gasped.

It wasn't that they were making a fuss over nothing; it was simply that these Honkai Beasts were too staggering!

Even if they had heard descriptions of Honkai Beasts from others, they realized that hearing about them was nothing compared to the shock of seeing them with their own eyes!

"Don't daze out! Prepare to attack!"

Rasa's voice brought all the stunned Ninjas back to their senses. They immediately began weaving signs, preparing to strike.

"As planned, lure these Honkai Beasts elsewhere!"

"Understood!!!" the Jonin replied loudly.

"Wind Release: Vacuum Serial Waves!"

Continuous Wind Release attacks were spat from the Jonin's mouths, flying toward the Honkai Beasts at the front of the pack.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

These wind-based energy spheres crossed over a hundred meters, hitting the massive Honkai Beasts and setting off a series of explosions.

Their power far exceeded ordinary B-rank Ninjutsu, even leaving marks on the bodies of the Honkai Beasts.

It seemed that if the power were just a bit stronger, they would be able to damage the beasts' carapaces.

"As expected, the method for utilizing Honkai Energy developed by the First Hokage can harm these Honkai Beasts." Rasa's face showed joy at the sight, but then, his brow furrowed.

"However, the price is too high!"]
