Chapter 21 - 21

"Can't it be opened all the way?"

A flicker of disappointment passed through Fenris's eyes, only to be completely drowned out by a sudden rush of delight.

He had still been worrying about how he was supposed to unlock a new Titan. Instead, just as the saying went, what he had searched for everywhere had practically delivered itself right to his doorstep. Only a few days had passed, and a brand-new lead was already right in front of him.

"A new Titan..."

Fenris rubbed his hands together excitedly.

In terms of raw combat power alone, Godzilla, the King of the Monsters, already stood at the very top among all Titans. And the fact that he could keep absorbing radiation and evolving gave Fenris nearly limitless potential.

But setting combat strength aside, every Titan possessed its own unique abilities. That meant that in the future, Fenris could command an ever-growing array of methods rather than being limited to close-quarters brawling.

"Fenris, what's wrong with you?"

Because the way Fenris was looking at him had suddenly become intensely heated, Logan frowned in confusion and instinctively took half a step back.

"Don't move!"

Fenris suddenly shouted.

Following the reaction coming from the Titan Encyclopedia, his gaze swept over Logan again and again.

The abrupt outburst drew everyone else's attention as well, and they all turned to look.

A moment later, Fenris's eyes lit up. He had finally found the source of the disturbance.

He reached out and gave Logan a light tug, and an extremely fine strand of web immediately came away in his hand.

"You made all that fuss over this?"

Logan clicked his tongue helplessly and turned to leave. "This suit's too damn tight. I'm going to change."

"Fine. Come back as soon as you're done. I've got something to ask you."

As he spoke, Fenris sat back down on the couch and carefully studied the web in his hand.

"Webbing..."

He searched through his memory for a Titan beast that matched.

"I don't think there's a spider-shaped Titan, but there is one that looks kind of like a spider..."

Scylla. A Titan with six long legs and a head resembling an octopus, named after the sea monster from Greek myth, with the power to freeze all things.

"But if it's related to spinning silk..."

Fenris's thoughts shifted, and another powerful Titan rose to the forefront of his mind.

The Queen of the Monsters. Mothra.

A Titan that lived in symbiosis with Godzilla. One that could help Godzilla enter his Burning state, while also possessing the power of endless rebirth. A being that was virtually immortal.

"If it's Mothra, then her God Rays are no joke either."

Fenris weighed it silently in his heart. "And if she can keep evolving like Godzilla, maybe one day she could develop an even stronger light-speed form, or even an eternal form..."

Whether it was Scylla or Mothra, either one would be an enormous help to him at this stage.

At that thought, Fenris's eyes burned with excitement.

While he was still thinking, Logan came downstairs. He shot Scott, who was lying in Jean Grey's lap while she applied medicine to him, an annoyed glance before striding over and dropping onto the seat beside Fenris.

"Logan, can I ask where Azazel sent you yesterday?"

The instant Logan's rear touched the couch, Fenris impatiently fired off the question.

"The sky," Logan answered with brutal brevity.

Fenris didn't mind. He pressed on at once. "The sky where?"

"No idea." Logan shook his head honestly. "I almost smashed straight into the ground. Some guy wearing baby pajamas, plus a mask and sunglasses, saved me."

"Baby pajamas?"

Fenris's heart stirred, and a certain person immediately came to mind.

"He could shoot extremely tough webbing from his wrists. He used it to swing between buildings, and he was fast as hell." Logan thought for a moment, then added, "After he saved me, he sent me to Manhattan. But by the time I got there, your fight was already over."

"So it really was Peter Parker."

Fenris instantly understood.

"Professor, could I ask you to help me find someone?"

Since unlocking a new Titan was at stake, Fenris took it incredibly seriously and immediately turned to the Professor.

"You want to find the person who saved Logan?" The Professor understood at once. "But without any clues, that kind of search is very slow."

"You can read my memory," Logan said.

He had left in too much of a hurry back then, so he wanted a chance to thank the kid properly in person.

"You can. Come with me."

Professor X beckoned to Fenris and Logan, then turned to Ororo. "Take the children to class first."

"All right." Ororo nodded.

Inside Cerebro, after reading Logan's memory, Professor X lifted his hand from Logan's head and turned to put on the helmet.

With a faint hum, the lights around them quickly dimmed, and red and white figures began flashing past before Fenris's eyes.

"The red ones are mutants. The white ones are ordinary people," the Professor explained softly.

The next moment, the two colors of light began flashing rapidly. The image zoomed in fast, and before long, a small but especially cozy two-story house appeared.

Three white figures were sitting around a dining table eating breakfast.

"He's not even a mutant..." Logan raised his brows in surprise. "Lucky kid."

"Burp. Aunt May, I'm full."

A tall, lean, handsome young man sprang to his feet from the table, wiped his mouth, and bolted outside like the wind.

"Don't forget to pick me after school today."

"I remember!"

After shouting back, the young man sped off on his skateboard.

"Wow. He's actually a high school student."

Feigning surprise, Fenris turned and looked at Logan with a half-smile. "Some people have lived for hundreds of years, and one day they end up getting saved by a high schooler."

"...That's enough." Logan ground his teeth.

After finding the person, Professor X gently removed the helmet and warned them, "That child's name is Peter Parker. He lives in Queens, New York, and he's a student at Midtown High. He's about to graduate."

"He's still just a child, yet he chose to put on a mask and uphold justice, punishing evil and helping others. That means there's great love in his heart. So when you go to find him, don't bring trouble to his door, and absolutely do not expose his identity."

Faced with the Professor's repeated warning, Fenris nodded with complete seriousness.

He was looking for Peter because of a lead on a new Titan. There was no way he would do anything that stupid.

"Professor, if anything comes up, you can contact me through Logan anytime."

"All right." The Professor smiled and nodded.

"Let's go."

Fenris dragged Logan away, even though he had only just come back and barely had time to sit down. After casually borrowing a car from Scott's garage, they headed straight back to New York.

...

Queens, outside Midtown High.

Logan stared at the school's tall fence and frowned. "Do we just go inside and find him?"

"We could wait outside too." Fenris shrugged, looking completely unconcerned. "But don't you want to go in and take a look?"

"You've got a point."

With a sharp snikt, Logan's claws slid out, and he raised a hand to cut through the fence.

"What a brute."

Fenris rolled his eyes speechlessly, then pressed lightly with his feet and simply hauled Logan up and over the nearly three-meter fence.

"Ahem."

Logan retracted his claws with a completely natural expression.

With his sharpened senses, Fenris led Logan all the way to the sports field. The two of them slipped inside with ease and found seats in the stands.

"Flash, you knocked over the paint bucket on purpose, didn't you?"

"Hey, Parker, give me back the ball!"

After enjoying the campus atmosphere for a moment, an argument suddenly broke out not long after.

Fenris glanced over and saw Peter Parker holding a basketball in one hand, calmly looking at another tall, broad-shouldered boy in the distance.

"Come on, Flash. If you've got the guts, come take it yourself."
