Emily's POV
What does he think of himself? How can he purchase me like this, purchase me to be his wife and my so called family is so happy to sell me except Tia, who is sad that Mr. Knight wants to marry me instead of her but on other hand she is also happy that my marriage will be a loveless marriage, full of tortures. I know he is taking revenge for that slap.
Wearing a long skirt with a simple top I stop a cab to go to the Knight's enterprises in New York. I have no expectations from my family that they will stop my marriage with Mr. Knight, so it's Mr. Knight only who can stop this deal and free me from this love less marriage. I have my own dreams about my prince and my marriage and this marriage doesn't fit anywhere.
A Cab driver stops the car in front of the Knight's enterprises standing in its glory. I quickly pay the driver for his service and move toward the main gate of the building only to find guards stopping the visitors like me who don't have any ID card or an appointment.
"Do you have an appointment?" A guard stops me when he sees that I am trying to skip inside the building.
Now what to tell him? Should I tell him that I am here to say no to their boss about the purchasing deal? No Emily! By this you will make a fool of yourself.
"I am here to meet your Boss. Mr. Liam" I say confidently. I again try to pass him and get inside the building but he stops me.
"Many people come here to meet the bosses. Do you have some appointment?" The guard places his hand on my shoulder and pushes me back.
"I don't have one but just tell your boss that Emily Parker is here and he will allow me in." Irritation visible in my tone. First with Tia in the morning, then this deal offer and now these guards who are wasting my time at the front gate.
"So you are Emily Parker!" They ask me in shock and look at me from top to toe like I am some alien. "We know that boss is expecting you."
Finally they allow me in, but why Liam is expecting me? May be he knows that I will be here to say no to him. I move toward the reception area and find a girl standing there nearly wearing nothing. How can a girl like her who is showing her cleavage to every visitor be appointed as a receptionist? Never mind.
"I want to know the floor number of Mr.Knight. He is expecting me."
"Your name please." She asks me with a not so interesting tone while tuning her nails with finer. Why will she be interested in a simple girl like me? A girl who is complete opposite to her.
"Emily Parker."
"What? You are Emily?" she asks me nearly jumping from her seat where she was seated before. Why is everyone here looking at me in shock?
"Yes I am Emily. His floor number please." I ask while drumming my hands on the reception table.
"His office is at fortieth floor. Turn right and you will find the lift. Once on the fortieth floor go straight and you will see his office at the far corner." She again eyes me from top to bottom but I ignore her.
Hurriedly, I go in the direction directed to me by the receptionist and enter the lift pressing the fortieth floor button. The lift is completely empty except for me. I look around to find myself enjoying the view outside from the fully glass made lift. The view is truly magnificent.
With a ding sound the lift stops on fortieth floor and I move out toward Mr. Knight's office. Weird! I didn't face any obstacle standing at his office door. I barged into his office like a blunder planning to bark over him but here he is sitting all calm on his chair after destroying my life.
"Welcome Mili I was waiting for you only." He lays back on his chair leisurely looking at me.
"How dare you Mr. Knight? How could you decide to purchase me? I am a human not some commodity that you can purchase." I grit my teeth in anger while throwing angry daggers in his way.
"I have power and money using which I can purchase anything even a human and here you are the example." He mocks me and why not! He really has the power.
"But why me? If you wanted to show off your power you can buy Tia also. I am sure you both have many similar traits like making other person's life hell." I remark in a bitter voice.
"So why me?"
