Cherreads

Chapter 87 - || CHAPTER 87:I Am Your Childhood Friend ||

After his trial, Fate guy started walking faster. He muttered, "Who the hell are you all? I am actually older than Lucan and you guys, but you are all acting like I am a kid!"

The golden butterflies flew down as he realized he had messed up.

He ran ahead as he screamed, "Oh right, I am actually younger—I lost my lifespan back then!"

He had still not regained his lifespan, thanks to the unfortunate chaos of the abyss.

He sighed, "If the golden butterfly was silver way earlier, I could have been younger again! Sigh! Now the abyss is destroyed either way."

Not just him, but nobody knew about the recreation of the abyss, as the time crystal had erased the memories related to it.

Fate guy saw his wrinkles vanishing, his skin turning smoother, and his hair color turning back.

He saw himself so young. He looked behind to see a yellow glow from the golden butterflies.

He asked, "You did this for me?..."

The golden butterflies shook their heads as they gave him a message: 'For Lucan.'

Fate guy asked, "Eh, what the hell? How is this related to Lucan?"

The golden butterflies reminded him of Lucan's request: "Saving him from death."

He was confused, but he soon realized the truth.

His lifespan had come to an end; he was about to die, hence he got saved indirectly.

A soft smile appeared on his dry lips. He laughed, "Hahaha, how great it feels to get back this youthful body! Ah, feels like a heavenly delusion."

But he gulped down saliva as he turned to gaze at the golden butterflies.

How many more mysteries were hidden within them? Who created them? How are they this powerful? The silver form? And...

He calmed himself as he said, "Let me first explore this place as Lucan had advised! And I don't know why, but I feel nostalgic. Maybe a déjà vu? Haha, it might be my past life or some kind of mystical dream!"

He walked ahead as suddenly a gray-colored stone hit his chest.

He fell down as he looked up ahead. The golden butterflies didn't react, but they were surrounding him in a circle.

He didn't even feel the pain for a strange reason.

He looked in the direction of the attack, but he saw nothing unusual.

He grabbed the stone and threw it aside. "Hmph, since the golden butterflies didn't defend me, it seems harmless. Alright, let me move ahead! I have already wasted enough time!"

But the stone hit him again, this time from behind.

He fell to the ground and then stood up.

He dusted himself off as he gritted his teeth. "Who the hell are you? Come out if you dare, coward!"

Then he heard a voice—it was coming from the stone, which had a pale glow.

He picked it up to see that it was different from the other regular stones on the ground.

It was the same stone that had hit him previously.

He had a strange thought as he shouted, "A crystal! Yes, you must be a crystal, right?"

The voice replied, "I need... cosmic energy... or I'll die!"

Fate guy poured out all his cosmic energy, but it was barely enough; it didn't even make a difference.

He looked at the golden butterflies. They had unlimited cosmic energy, just like the crystals, because they are part of nature. They absorb natural cosmic energy directly from the cosmos.

However, they didn't answer him because the situation was not near death for him, but for a random crystal.

Fate guy tried to beg them to save its life.

He closed his eyes as he fell to his knees and pleaded, "Please save it! It must be searching for me! I can't let it die on my watch!"

But...

When he opened his eyes, the golden butterflies were still flying with no change.

He clenched his teeth. "You ruthless, vile beasts! Hmph, so selfish toward Lucan and..."

He continued to curse them for a while.

Then the voice spoke, "Thank you, friends, you saved my life!"

Fate guy saw that the gray crystal was fully restored.

He was flabbergasted. "So... you did help him?"

The golden butterflies ignored him as they started playing with the newly healed crystal.

Fate guy smiled warmly. "I see. The crystals want perfection! They want the world to follow the order of fate. But the golden butterflies are different—they want the world to be full of love and happiness! Peaceful and beautiful. Ah, you guys are the best! Hehe, the Pride Crystal was also like you... hehe, golden butterflies. You punish us just because we are reckless with our own lives and risk them so easily; you deeply care about us. No, sorry—about the world!"

The golden butterflies gave him an indifferent gaze, their expressions speaking without words: "Isn't this the same mouth that cursed us a few seconds ago?"

Fate guy smiled bitterly. "Come on, the past is the past! We all make mistakes, right? Hahaha!"

The golden butterflies didn't hurt him back. Instead, they started to fly around him, happy that he at least understood his mistakes.

They gave him another note: 'All of us make mistakes, and you can make infinite mistakes! But... you must fix them as you did now! That's all.'

Fate guy felt like a completely different person. He started to think optimistically.

He felt as if his problems faded away into a thin mist. His soul felt clear and his mind refreshed.

He started to laugh crazily, as if he had gone insane.

He looked at the sky and said, "Now I get why Lord and Lucan laugh like they're insane! Neither sane nor insane. These guys are incomplete psychos! Hahaha."

The gray-colored crystal said, "Master, you are your clan's last hope! You came back here just as they thought."

Fate guy's expression took a quick turn as he asked, "Master? Clan... what are you talking about, crystal?"

The gray-colored crystal replied, "I am not just a crystal, Master—I am your childhood friend! Don't you remember your memories?"

Fate guy's happiness was instantly consumed.

He went into deep thought as he asked, "Wait... Lucan brought me here, which means he must know about this!"

His friend replied, "The what? Lucan? What is that? Does it know about your past?..."

Fate guy's eyes widened, and his mouth twitched.

He shook his head. "No, he will never betray me! At least that is what I believe! Huh, what a change of moods. So this is what they call a mood swing, huh? Golden butterflies... will you call Lucan here?"

Lucan's voice spoke up, "There is no need, bro! Hehe, I am already here."

Fate guy shot a sharp, intense glare at Lucan.

Meanwhile, Lucan was grinning as he showed Fate guy a small button.

He grinned, "This is, uh, a device used to store data! I got this from a good old friend who unfortunately perished... at my hands, that is. Blue guy, hehe. Ugh, I hate mood swings!"

In the eternal abyss of life and death, Lord held all six of them in his hands.

He roared, "I don't care about you guys defeating me in an unfair way, because there is no such thing! But... you dare try to humiliate my pride and ego! I shall show no mercy to anyone, even myself! Hmph!"

He snorted coldly.

Suddenly, a force pulled Lord away, and he disappeared.

Kaol Noah, the Crystal of Betrayal, the Life Crystal (present and future), and the Death Crystal (present and future)—all of them felt freed.

The Life Crystal frowned, "This mortal! Ah, killing him would be a piece of cake for the four of us! But the problem is that we can't!"

The Death Crystal replied, "Bro, killing is not the solution to all problems! Unless they try to kill you, though!"

The Future Death Crystal agreed and nodded.

The Future Life Crystal said, "Kaol is also an important piece of the game. We have to capture him now! And since he is immortal due to our powers, we can't kill him either, hehe!"

Kaol Noah frowned as he took a fighting stance. The Crystal of Betrayal teleported away, taking Kaol with him.

"Don't try to get cocky! He is my pawn!"

As he left, the Life Crystal smiled creepily. "Let's kill the Crystal of Betrayal! What do you say?"

The Death Crystal froze in disbelief. "Wait, fate has given us a message!"
