Sarah was unconscious, yet behind her closed eyes, she could still see Eva… and the vase falling towards her again and again.
Even in that unconscious state, Sarah kept murmuring only one name—
"Eva… Eva…"
Her face was filled with fear, her forehead covered in sweat.
Doctor Kevin was sitting beside her, watching everything carefully.
Seeing her restless condition, he gently placed his hand on her head and softly whispered near her ear,
"Sofia… calm down. Eva is completely fine… Eva is safe… Eva is safe…"
He repeated it three times in a calm and soothing voice.
His words slowly reached Sarah, and gradually, her body relaxed. Her breathing steadied, and she became calm.
—
Meanwhile, Doctor Kevin's parents were talking among themselves.
They had observed everything.
The bond between Sarah and Eva.
The way Eva felt comfortable around Sarah.
And most importantly, how Sarah had risked her own life to save Eva.
All of this had deeply touched their hearts.
Without even realizing it, Sarah had already made a special place in their hearts.
—
On the other side, Ryan finally received some information about Sarah.
The police informed him that a week ago, a terrible accident had occurred involving a car crashing into a truck.
As evidence, they even shared the car's registration number with him.
When Ryan checked it…
His heart stopped.
That car belonged to Sarah.
Hearing this, Ryan felt as if the ground beneath his feet had disappeared.
His heart began to pound loudly, and tears streamed uncontrollably from his eyes.
With trembling courage, he asked the police,
"She… she must be fine, right?"
The officer replied in a serious tone,
"Looking at the condition of the accident… it's almost impossible for anyone to survive."
Those words shattered him completely.
It felt as if his life had been ripped away.
He collapsed to his knees and broke down, crying helplessly.
Alice was there again.
She supported him, held him, and took him back home.
—
After some time, Sarah regained consciousness.
As she slowly opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Eva.
Without thinking, she pulled her into a warm embrace, just like a mother would.
Doctor Kevin entered the room shortly after.
"How are you feeling now, Sofia?" he asked gently.
Sarah smiled faintly.
"I feel better now."
Kevin looked at her with gratitude.
"I don't know how to thank you, Sofia. If something had happened to Eva today… I would never have been able to forgive myself."
Sarah shook her head softly.
"Please don't embarrass me. I only did what any human would do. Anyone in my place would have done the same."
Kevin smiled, but his eyes still held deep emotion.
"You must be hungry," he said, and arranged for some food.
However, Sarah's hands were injured, and she was unable to eat properly.
She tried, but every movement caused her pain.
Seeing this, Kevin said gently,
"If you don't mind… as a friend, may I help you eat?"
Sarah didn't argue.
She simply nodded.
As Kevin fed her the first bite, Eva became extremely happy and started clapping her tiny hands excitedly.
Both Kevin and Sarah looked at her and smiled.
—
After some time, Sarah said softly,
"Kevin, can you leave Eva with me for a while? I really like spending time with her."
Kevin smiled warmly.
"Of course. You can spend as much time as you want with her. You don't need permission."
Hearing this, Sarah felt truly happy.
Kevin left the room, and Sarah began playing with Eva.
Eva, too, enjoyed every moment with her.
Days passed like this.
One week went by.
With each passing day, the bond between Sarah and Eva grew stronger.
It slowly turned into something deeper… like a bond between a mother and her child.
Meanwhile, Sarah was recovering.
Her head injury and hand wounds had mostly healed.
Only her walking still needed improvement.
Eva had also become happier around her, as if a missing piece in her life was slowly being filled.
Then one day—
Eva suddenly said, "Ma…"
For a moment, Sarah froze in shock.
But instead of fear, a warm feeling spread through her heart.
It felt… right.
—
Doctor Kevin's mother noticed everything.
In her heart, she felt that Sarah was perfect for both her son and her granddaughter.
Later, she went to talk to Kevin.
"I need to discuss something important with you," she said.
Meanwhile, Zara was taking Sarah in a wheelchair.
However, she had forgotten her phone in the room.
She left Sarah near the door and went back to get it.
That door… was right next to the room where Kevin and his mother were talking.
And Sarah could hear everything.
—
Kevin's mother spoke,
"I think it's time you get married again."
Hearing this, Kevin became angry.
"Mom, how can you even think like this? You know how much I loved Sofia. I can never give her place to anyone else."
His mother tried to calm him.
"Don't be angry. I have someone in mind… someone who can take care of both you and Eva."
Kevin looked at her.
"And who is that?"
She replied,
"Sofia."
Kevin was stunned.
"I've seen the way she cares for you," his mother continued. "And the way she loves Eva… just like a mother."
Outside the door, Sarah stood frozen.
Listening to all this made her feel strange.
Confused.
Emotional.
Kevin's voice grew firm and slightly angry.
"What are you saying, Mom? How can you even think this? She doesn't even remember her own name properly. She doesn't know her past. She is struggling every day, hoping her memories will return so she can go back to her family."
He took a deep breath.
"And you want me to marry her for my own selfish reasons? To take that away from her?"
Hearing this, tears filled Sarah's eyes.
But this time… they weren't from pain.
They were from respect.
In that moment, her respect for Kevin grew even deeper.
In her heart, she thought,
"Doctor Kevin is such a good person… his thoughts towards me are so pure."
—
Kevin, still upset, stepped out of the room.
And there, he saw Sarah standing near the door.
His expression changed instantly.
A doubt crossed his mind—
Did she hear everything?
And if she did… what would she think about him?
Then he noticed the tears in her eyes.
He stepped closer and asked softly,
"What happened? Why are you crying?"
