Chapter 6 - the ordinary

The ordinary

Her side:

God is present with me, even as I'm washing the dishes,

I hum a little tune, something I heard last Sunday.

What a wonderful gift, to have a home over my head,

Clothing on my back and a warm place to call my bed.

These dirty dishes I cried about earlier,

Remind me of fully satisfied bellies and needs that have been met.

Of a peace i dont have to strive to get,

A peace that surpasses all understanding,

And truly, this is just the beginning.

His side:

I see you, smiling to yourself as you wash the dishes.

You've got a rhythm;

Dip, soak, and scrub,

Then rinse, dry, and place on the drying rack.

You're building Momentum.

Iknow you're speaking with Him.

I do the same.

Right now? As I watch my wife, I remember.

I once prayed for soft moments like this.

To find God in the mundane.

To experience the extraordinary in the ordinary.

And now I have what I prayed for and more,

My heart is full, I bless the name of the Lord.

Them together:

God is present in the ebb and flow of life,

Not just in the whirlwind, the flame, the waves,

But in the still small voice, does He speak.

When we sit and pray together, He is there.

When we do bible study together, there is He.

And when we have our silly little moments,

We remember that God has abundantly blessed us with all of this.

So come to me, my darling, I call you with pure devotion,

Not merely fickle emotions, but a choosing of you again as we go through the motions.

My love for you has grown, wider than the ocean.

And this breath of praise is my love token.
