Adeline woke up to a nightmare where she saw Janessa was laughing at her for being beaten up by her father. It was a memory when she was quite young... Twelve or thirteen and the scene would come to her mind as a nightmare.
She sat up with beads of sweat on her temples.
"You're no longer in that house," she whispered to herself while caressing her chest.
Turning her head, she didn't find Gideon in the bed. Her eyes quickly checked the time but it 6:15 am. Leaving the bed, Adeline went to her own bedroom and freshened up first before heading downstairs in the hope she would see Gideon.
"Did he already leave for the work? I wonder what's the situation here? I didn't even ask him," she murmured while descending the stairs slowly.
"Adeline!"
The name echoed through the hall, and she froze. She recognized that voice instantly. It was Gideon's half-brother, Ensley.
