Chapter 3: Lines That Blur
The city outside roared louder, but inside the café, time slowed.
Mira should've left.
She knew that.
But instead—
"Tell me something honest," she said.
Aarav didn't hesitate.
"I don't usually sit this long with someone I just met."
"Why are you now?"
He held her gaze.
"Because you don't feel temporary."
That landed deeper than she expected.
She looked away first this time.
Dangerous.
This was getting dangerous.
"You say things like that to everyone?" she asked lightly.
"No," he said quietly.
"Only to people who make me want to say more."
Her fingers tightened slightly around her cup.
"Careful," she murmured, almost to herself.
"Of what?"
She looked back at him—this time softer, but with something hidden underneath.
"Of making me stay."
Aarav didn't smile this time.
"Too late."
