Chapter 19 - The Last Gambler

"Y-you…"

Among the five men, the quickest to react had already turned around and fled while shouting in panic.

Woo Manyeo snapped his fingers again and a special note silently slipped into the pocket of the man who was running away.

He was not afraid that no one would make a deal.

He was only afraid that not enough people knew.

Let it spread as much as possible.

The more people who knew, the better!

"So, do you want to make a deal? Sign this contract, and you will receive one hundred thousand. Ten years later, we will come to collect your soul."

Woo Manyeo watched as the remaining four people tried to run. But they were also afraid of angering this strange existence, so they hesitated.

Standing frozen in place, they had no idea what to do, whether to run or to stay.

It was a vivid demonstration of what it meant to hesitate and lose.

"So that means, in ten years, we will die?"

"That's right."

"If, if I mean if, if we don't make the deal?"

Woo Manyeo flicked his finger lightly.

A note with slightly messy handwriting floated in front of the man.

"If you don't want to make a deal, you can leave at any time. Take the note. It has the steps to summon us written on it. Each person only has one chance to make a deal, so cherish it. Think carefully before summoning us."

Three of the men clutched the notes in their hands and quickly ran out of the alley.

Even after they had gone far away, everything still felt unreal.

If it were not for the notes in their hands, they would have thought it was all just a hallucination.

"Could it be, could it be that boy was some kind of magician?"

"Is this some kind of prank show? Film crew, come out already, film crew!"

"We'll just check on that man tomorrow. He'll definitely be in the casino!"

"…"

The only one left in the alley was Kivan, his hand holding the note trembling nonstop.

"Is it real? Is what you said real?"

"Why don't you try and find out? Even if it's fake, a contract like this wouldn't have any legal effect, right?"

Kivan took two steps and leaned against the wall, trying to use it to support his weakening legs.

His wife had divorced him.

Because of him, she had lost their house and now she and the children were forced to live in a cheap motel.

It wasn't that he had never regretted it.

It was precisely because he regretted it that he desperately wanted to win everything back.

Kivan's expression slowly shifted from fear to determination. "If, if it's real, I can live only ten years, but I want more. I want one million. I, I'm not doing this for myself. I'm doing it for my family."

One million was enough to pay off his debts and still leave quite a bit for his wife and children.
