Soraya looked up at him quietly for a few seconds before a small smile finally appeared on her lips.
Not her usual mocking smirk or that dangerous cold expression she used around the other lords.
Zenobius froze again. Honestly, the woman rarely smiled these days. At least not like this.
Seeing it now while she stood this close to him almost annoyed him more because of how much he missed it.
His burning red eyes narrowed slightly. "Am I not annoying enough?"
Soraya chuckled softly under her breath. "You?" she repeated in amusement. "You were always annoying."
Zenobius looked offended immediately. "Wow."
"But…" Soraya slowly glanced toward his glowing eyes again before continuing calmly, "I preferred this annoying version better than the quiet one."
Zenobius stared at her silently. The heat surrounding him still remained dangerous, but strangely enough, it no longer felt destructive around Soraya herself. Almost like the fire refused to touch her.
