Amnesia
It was a cold, cloudy morning. Arian slowly opened his eyes in a large city hospital. His head felt heavy, and everything around him looked unfamiliar. He tried to remember who he was and where he came from, but nothing came to his mind.
The doctor spoke softly,
"You were in an accident. You have partially lost your memory. This condition is called amnesia."
Arian nodded silently. It felt as if a big part of his life had suddenly disappeared.
In the following days, a girl came to visit him in the hospital. Her name was Maya. There was a strange kindness in her eyes and a gentle smile on her face.
Maya sat beside him every day and talked to him. Sometimes she sang old songs, sometimes she told small stories. But she never told him what their relationship was.
One day Arian asked,
"Why do you come to see me every day?"
Maya stayed quiet for a moment and then smiled.
"Because… you are someone very special to me."
But in her eyes there seemed to be many unspoken words.
After Arian left the hospital, Maya continued to help him. She took him to different places in the city—quiet roads, a park, and a bench beside the river.
One evening they were sitting by the river while the sun was slowly setting.
Arian said,
"Isn't it strange? When I am with you, it feels like I have known you for a long time. But I just can't remember."
Maya didn't reply. She only looked quietly at the flowing river.
A few weeks later, one day Arian suddenly felt a sharp pain in his head. Images began to flash quickly before his eyes—a rainy road, a motorcycle, and a girl sitting beside him.
Suddenly everything came back to him.
He stood up quickly.
"Maya…"
Maya looked at him in surprise.
There were tears in Arian's eyes.
"You are my… girlfriend."
Tears filled Maya's eyes too. She had been waiting to hear those words for so long.
Arian spoke slowly,
"On the day of the accident, we were together… You got hurt while trying to save me. Right?"
Maya quietly nodded.
She had hidden the truth for so long because the doctor had warned her that forcing him to remember could be dangerous.
Arian held Maya's hand tightly.
"I forgot everything… but my heart could never forget you."
The evening sky was glowing red.
Maya smiled softly.
"Maybe that's what love is. Even if memories disappear… feelings remain."
Arian pulled her close.
For a time, he had lost all his memories.
But the love deep in his heart had never disappeared.
And that love finally led him back to her.
