Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 Wheel of Fortune

"Sister Xue Yao, I don't think the wolves will let us go. They have been chasing us for more than thirty minutes now. I can't go on anymore! I'm tired." Honghong cried.

Xue Yao sat comfortably on her back, her hands stroking the fur of the wolf beast.

After a while, she raised her head, her brows almost touching. "Honghong, tell me how powerful the wolf beasts are?"

"The wolf beasts are extremely powerful, because the ones considered the weakest are at the spirit beast's level," Honghong replied.

"And which level is that?"

"It ranges from level 4 to 6. Despite being at the same level, those at level 4 are weaker compared to those in levels 5 and 6. And you might think it is just one level, why so much difference, that is because in every level there are ten stages…"

"Honghong, my head hurts from your ranting. When I ask you questions, summarize them as best as you can." Xue Yao cut in massaging her temple.

Her eyes narrowed slightly. "So you are saying this wolf might be a spirit beast or stronger?"

"Yes, absolutely."

Xue Yao pursed her lips. She wasn't sure if it was a good idea to tame the beast. 'If it could escape from the rock rabbit king, then this wolf must be exceptionally powerful, and considering his size and his bloodthirsty aura, he is far above the spirit beast level…' She paused. 'This is a rare moment. It is very weak, and that means this is the best time to tame it… oh it wouldn't be so bad to have a big bad wolf at my side… hahahaha.'

"Honghong look for a safe place somewhere that they can't reach in two days no matter how fast they run." She said, snapping out of her thought.

"Sure! Hold on tight."

Honghong flapped her wings faster, speeding through the sky. She crossed a body of water, and after flying for some time she finally landed on the forest floor.

"I'm so tired," Honghong said as she slumped to the ground.

Xue Yao jumped down from her back, her knees bending slightly as she cradled the wolf in her arms.

"I'll cook you some rabbit meat, you like it grilled or cooked?" Xue Yao asked as she gently put the wolf down.

"Cooked." Honghong raised her head, already salivating.

"Too bad, I like it grilled." She said with a mischievous smile. "Go gather firewood for us."

"But I just flew us down here." Honghong protested.

"I'm your master, do I need to remind you again?" Xue Yao placed her hand on her waist.

"No master, Honghong will gather some wood for the master to cook," Honghong said, hanging her head down completely dispirited, dragging her legs through the forest floor.

Xue Yao sat beside the little wolf, her eyes trailing over its small body. 'Should I tie him up? If he wakes up now, he might eat me… but he looks hurt.'

She frowned when she noticed blood dripping from the side of its stomach. She ripped the bottom of her shirt and tied it around the wolf's wound. "You'd better remember my kindness to you." She muttered under her breath.

[Yawn… host, congratulations for taming a beast!]

Xiao Tian Lan materialized from thin air, throwing sparkles into the air in celebration. With a snap of her finger, a blue screen hovered before them.

[You have successfully unlocked your reward!

Reward: 50 coins

Bonus: A life-saving rope]

"Yeah!" Xue Yao said, pretending to match Tian Lan's sluggish energy.

[Not just that, the system is very generous today and will give you a chance to win a gift from the spinning pool.]

Xue Yao opened her mouth as if in awe. "That's so cool."

[Not just cool…hhmmhmm… The condition is you use your bonus that you have received to get a higher prize,] she chuckled scratching the back of her hair. [It just depends on your luck, if you win you get a bigger gift!]

Tian Lan flicked her hand and the screen turned into a blue wheel with five prizes that ranged from wood, bronze, silver, gold, and platinum, and five other empty sections with question marks. She stood next to the wheel winking at Xue Yao.

"What if I lose?" Xue Yao asked with doubt in her eyes, she was certain she was going to lose.

[You lose your bonus.] Tian Lan said in a matter-of-fact tone.

Xue Yao kept quiet for a second, observing the spinning wheel in front of her. Although she believed the life-saving rope was not too important, it might be important enough whenever she was in danger. 'The chances of losing and winning are the same, that is a 50 percent chance, I might lose or win… but until I'm 100 percent sure of leaving this crazy dream, I'm not gambling my only chance of surviving away.]

"I'm not playing." Xue Yao said, resting her back on a tree trunk.

Tian Lan's eyes twitched as if she couldn't believe her ears. She turned around, glaring at Xue Yao.

[You said what?!]

"I said I'm not playing." Xue Yao repeated with a nonchalant stare, meeting Tian Lan's gaze squarely.

[You are not going to play? But you have messed up my space with those stupid rabbits, do you really think there are no consequences for your actions?]

Tian Lan's pale blue hair and eyes turned red slowly… literally.

Xue Yao's mouth fell wide open, why does she feel like she was going to regret saying no to her… seeing the way she was turning all red and her features changing, Xue Yao stepped forward.

"Hahahaha, don't be mad over that, it was the only thing I could do in the face of crisis. As for this spinning wheel, is there nothing else I can use as a bet?" Xue Yao asked cautiously.

[No.]

"Okay fine, use the bonus." She said through gritted teeth, her hands clenching tightly by her side.

'If I can get a bonus, I can get another right? Oh my life-saving rope is gone…sob…sob…what a bully system.'

[That is more like it.]

Tian Lan, who was boiling red seconds ago, suddenly returned to her normal pale blue colour.

[We can now sweep the issue of the stupid rabbits under the rug.]

She said calmly, a small smile forming on the corner of her lips. [Host, you now have the honour to spin the wheel of fortune.] She added with a polite bow.
