Chapter 8 - Mind Tricks II

Renee's POV

"After Morgan, what's next? It's already a few minutes after the first hour began. So?"

"We stick to the plan."

"Cam do we have a plan? We need to warn mum at least, why not that first?"

"Cause I'm having a feeling." He said.

"That?" I ask.

"That this didn't happen by common coincidence. We're here for a reason and that's to die on purpose, not by mistake."

He's making sense, his thoughts are creeping into mine. That's possible but dad didn't know? He just bought the house. "So you suspect dad?"

"Not just others. I suspect the whole circumstance. Everyone excluding us and Morgan." He said.

"Well, I suspect everyone right now." I said.

Anna stepped out of the bathroom, "You guys, I'm having a feeling mom's possessed."

"Wait on that, the story said he killed his parents. But the people I saw were the parents of the girl, the girl and her younger sibling. At least the senior's still alive, isn't he?" Cam said.

"So he killed her parents, what about his?"

"They're dead by now I'm sure." Anna answered.

Cam asked, "What if he buried them here, the first and second are older stones."

"Then that's his parents! The other three are her parents and younger sibling."

"Then the person from the well should-" A sound from the roof made him stop talking.

"What's that noise from the roof? That's not rain, the stars are still out."

Cam stood on his feet first, "What's that? That sound?"

Anna warned us, "Start whispering, don't speak loudly anymore."

"What do you see?" Cam asked.

She replied, "Nothing, it's them. The other families, she said hers wouldn't come back but others will."

I already feel the strange wind creeping in again, "Guys something strong threw me across the room before you guys got here."

"That's the sound we heard when we were running up the stairs. Did it hold any object?" Anna asked.

"No just smashed things. After the fluctuation of the lights, the whole room went back to normal again."

"This means only one thing."

 "What?"

Anna replied from the right, "We'll die soon." No, I didn't want this, can't we just run far away from all this?

"Morgan said some things after the story, he said the families that ran away from the house died eventually. No natural cause, just strange deaths. Some stabbed themselves, others died in accidents. Either at home or on the road. Well, the only surviving family prayed and fasted. As far as I'm concerned we don't even go to church."

Cam nods his head, he just remembered something, "Dad's indeed an atheist actually. Mom, too."

"I didn't even take note all these years, I thought they just had really important things to do." I said.

"They just made up that excuse of important things to do." Cam said.

"Some broke their necks and had their necks turned backwards." Anna said.

Why is she extending the story, please?

"I'm just saying it, in case you see anything or anyone with their heads facing you when their bodies face the front." I should bury Anna's face in a pillow right now. Shouldn't I?

I see something behind her, like a shadow. It's got the description correctly, "No turning back, no turning back."

The three of us hear the words. We stay still with eyes on the ground and hands on each other. The noise stopped, Cam tried to stand up and I stop him.

"Don't."

It's the next day.

It's already 6:30am, Cam and Anna are asleep. The noise stopped, we already fell asleep on the bed and we didn't know. Thankfully they left, you know who. I see the house all quiet, I'm gonna walk out. My jacket looks good enough for the cold morning, Cam saw me open the door.

He asked, "Where are you going?"

I answered, "Outside, it's morning. They only come out at night."

"And they throw sharp objects and only God knows what by morning. You know that right?" He asked.

Anna stretched her body on the bed, "Don't go out alone, even if you just take a knife with you."

Cam and I stare at her for a while wondering. Cam asked, "Why?"

She sat up to reply to Cam, "Because every passing day turns the worst after worst. Cam? Can we forget school and get to Morgan?"

Cam asked, "Anna, Morgan's at home right?"

She replied, "Yes always, no one goes to school here. Everyone's homeschooled."

"Then what have we been doing?" Imagine this crap!

Dad opens the door, "You guys are up early."

As usual, everyone greets, "Morning dad."

He smiled and walked out saying, "Morning."

Mom walked in on us having our conversation. "Any issues? You guys look tired. Breakfast?"

"Yes please." Anna replied.

Anna followed mom, Cam and I were about to leave the room when the door shut itself against us. The white wall showed us something, a bold writing, Cam and I made eye contact before he walked closer to it. He read it aloud saying, "He tore my chest with the axe, he ripped my insides out with the hook."

Cam waited before he read again, He moved closer to the wall this time. He read aloud, "Renee, hold a knife aside. Always tell us before you move."

"Who's he?"

The door displayed another writing again. This time I moved closer to it, "Daniel, Daniel said he loved me but lied. Daniel killed me right before my parent's eyes." He took a pause and said, "I think it's time to ask questions. Sorry, but who's Daniel? Also where are you?"

It wrote again, "In the well, Daniel is Daniel. Run while you can." Cam stared at the wall confused. He looked closer and noticed the face of a dead woman on the wall. He flinched backward.

Just within seconds, every single word disappeared. The door opened itself allowing us to pass through. We walked through, "We need to find Daniel soon. I mean whoever he is. I need to ask her some questions." He said.

"Wait, for now, if she came today then she'll show up again. Also what about the well?" Cam said.
