Chapter 149 - 149: Butcher's Smug Plan

"Got some serious balls." Stormfront opened the challenge letter, read it, and let out a mocking smile.

She remembered the hateful look Kimiko had given her before leaving.

Feeling pretty good, she crumpled the letter into a ball and tossed it into the trash under the table. "Want revenge for that terrorist? Cute, but a little childish. Still, I loved the look in her eyes. That 'I want to kill you but don't dare' expression was fucking perfect."

"Greevs."

Stormfront turned to Ivan.

"I remember Vought set up a lot of cameras around the event."

"That's right." Ivan took a sip of coffee and nodded.

"If I'm not mistaken, two wanted criminals showed up at the event a little while ago. I need help from the tech department to lock down their positions. Ideally find their hideout too." Stormfront didn't give a shit about playing by the rules. Since they had declared war on her, she wasn't going to wait around until tomorrow.

Back in World War Two, Germany's specialty was blitzkrieg. Influenced by her Idol, Adolf, Stormfront naturally loved that kind of tactic.

"I'll need to contact local law enforcement to pull street camera footage. Should have results in about half an hour." After Stormfront described the two people's disguises and appearances, Ivan checked his watch and added, "But with the huge crowd at the event, the tech team might not be able to spot them in all those people."

"Five minutes ago they pretended to be my fans and got my autograph from me."

"Then finding them shouldn't be too hard." Ivan waved Ashley over and told her to handle it.

"Should we bring Homelander and the others?" Ashley asked nervously.

Stormfront let out a contemptuous snort. "Dealing with a few delusional terrorists who think of themselves as god-killers? I can handle it alone."

"Mr. Greevs." Ashley looked to Ivan for direction.

After all, he was her direct boss, not Stormfront.

"Do what she says. Don't notify Homelander and the rest for now."

Then Ivan turned his attention back to the panel.

[Talent Skill: Thunderstorm Weather]

[Fusion Requirements: Withstand Stormfront's attacks for over sixty seconds]

[After fusion, the player will gain partial control over thunderstorm weather. The player can release lightning and strong winds produced by thunderstorms. The power of the lightning and winds will be limited by the player's stamina and physical strength. If the player's physical strength is greatly enhanced, they may be able to create a miniature thunderstorm.]

As expected of Stormfront's core talent.

And no flaws. This ability would stand out even among the top fighters in The Boys.

Tempting. Ivan felt like he was almost drooling.

Besides Stormfront's Super Physique and Rapid Self-Healing, the other talents were all excellent. Especially Thunderstorm Weather and Supersonic Flight. They were straight-up T0-level powers in the world of The Boys.

No wonder Stormfront didn't take the other superheroes seriously. The only one she was wary of was Homelander.

Next!

[Talent Skill: Extended Lifespan]

[Fusion Requirements: Kill Stormfront]

[After fusion, the player's lifespan will be extended to three hundred years]

Stormfront's trump card ability and the main reason she had lived this long. It didn't disappoint Ivan.

If all of Stormfront's talents were put up for sale with the highest bidder winning,

Ivan was sure the most expensive one wouldn't be Thunderstorm Weather or Supersonic Flight. It would be Extended Lifespan.

After fusion, lifespan would extend to three hundred years. That simple effect would drive most of the Webnovel protags completely insane! If you know, you know.

Well, for Ivan, he didn't need it right now. He was still young. Plus he could travel between worlds. Extended lifespan was rare but not unique, so it didn't tempt him much.

Right now Ivan had a bit of decision paralysis.

"Looking at fusion difficulty, Hyper Sensitivity is clearly the easiest. Extended Lifespan isn't bad either. The only two hard ones are Thunderstorm Weather and Supersonic Flight.

Both are tough, and there's a chance I could complete them at the same time. Whatever. I'll figure it out when the time comes."

Ivan's strength wasn't high enough yet to be picky, so being practical was the smarter move.

Bottom line: play it by ear.

...

Meanwhile, in an abandoned lumber mill on the outskirts of Philadelphia, Butcher finished his dinner and wiped his mouth with a napkin from the table.

"You think Stormfront will fall for it?" Mother's Milk asked curiously.

"Nope." Butcher shook his head firmly.

"Stormfront isn't stupid. She won't hop into the trap like a rabbit." Butcher opened his laptop and pulled up the feed from a certain wooden cabin.

Beforehand he had set up cameras in every corner of the cabin. On the right side of the screen, two big guys were snoring away.

"The chemical plant is just a decoy. I've got cameras there too." Butcher hit a key and two more feeds appeared on his screen. "Just to be safe, I planted a ton of explosives at both locations. If Stormfront goes to the chemical plant, she'll run into the mysterious gentleman.

When those two start fighting, I'll hit the detonator."

Butcher made an explosion gesture, grinning viciously. "Boom. They'll both get blown to shit."

"Holy fuck, you want to kill the mysterious guy and Stormfront together?!" Hughie, who had been kept in the dark, blurted out.

"All supes deserve to die, right?"

Butcher said it like it was nothing.

"Of course, that's the perfect outcome. But things rarely go as planned. Our mysterious gentleman might not show up. Stormfront might not go to the chemical plant either.

So I made two preparations. I had Kimiko and Frenchie deliver the challenge letter to Stormfront and told them to make sure they were seen by street cameras.

Avoid any roads without cameras so Vought can track their movements.

In the end, they'll walk into the wooden cabin where the terrorists are staying.

In one corner there's a tunnel hidden under some boards. The end of the tunnel leads to a dense forest. As long as they follow the route I planned for them, they can avoid all the cameras and get back here."

"No matter what, our real secret base stays hidden. Even if the mission fails, we lose nothing."

Butcher leaned back in his chair with a smug look, like he could already see Stormfront getting blown to pieces.
