Chapter 305: I'm Going to Explode With You
Without another word, Eous planted its little feet on the floor and began to wiggle its round, metallic body. It was performing a somewhat clumsy but incredibly earnest "lucky dance" right in front of Wise.
Its short, stubby arms and legs worked in overdrive, striking various adorable poses while emitting a series of cheerful, rhythmic ehn-na electronic sound effects from its vocal synthesizer.
"Huh? Eous, since when did you learn how to dance?" Belle asked. She leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees as a bright, surprised smile spread across her face.
Wise blinked, equally caught off guard by the sudden performance. A soft chuckle escaped his lips as he shook his head. "Eous has been hanging around Amillion a lot lately. It probably picked up the routine during one of their playdates."
"Oh, right!" Belle's eyes widened in realization. "I heard that every time Nicole goes to Howl's newsstand to buy scratch cards, she forces Amillion to do a little dance just like that to bless her pulls... I didn't expect Eous to actually memorize the choreography."
Only then did the siblings realize that this ridiculous little jig was likely a highly guarded "metaphysical ritual" circulating exclusively within the local Bangboo community.
Watching Eous put so much concentrated effort into its wiggling, both Wise and Belle felt a sudden rush of warmth in their chests—followed swiftly by a sharp twinge of guilt.
They exchanged a quiet glance. Between managing the video store, handling their Proxy commissions, and recently traveling to entirely different universes to fight multiversal crises, they had been incredibly busy. In the midst of all that chaos, they had genuinely neglected to spend quality downtime with their loyal little Bangboo.
We really need to carve out more time to just hang out with Eous from now on, the siblings thought in perfect, unspoken unison.
Once Eous's blessing-filled dance finally concluded with a triumphant little beep, Wise no longer hesitated. He took a deep, steadying breath, connected his consciousness directly to the Chat Group's interface, and prepared to initiate his ten-pull.
Beside him, Belle could only watch. She had secretly blown through all her accumulated points on a ten-pull right before participating in their last world quest—managing to snag [Three-Color Haki] and a [Sparklence] in the process. Now, even with the handsome point reward from completing the recent quest, her balance was completely tapped out.
Relegated to the role of a spectator, she sat eagerly beside her brother. She propped her chin on her hands, her small face radiating a mix of intense envy and bubbling anticipation. Her bright eyes remained glued to Wise's virtual screen, silently praying to whatever gacha gods were listening that her brother would strike gold. She desperately wanted to see something earth-shatteringly overpowered pop out of the system just to broaden her own horizons.
Wise exhaled slowly, clearing the last lingering traces of distraction from his mind. He focused all his attention on the glowing virtual button hovering in his vision—the digital gateway that would decide his immediate fate.
His fingertip descended, tapping the [Ten-Pull] option.
In an instant, the gacha interface erupted. Streams of flowing light cascaded across his vision like a rushing river of stars. The digital meteors converged, flared blindingly bright, and finally settled into their respective orbs.
Two striking blue halos, glowing like polished pearls resting in the deep sea, illuminated the center of the screen. They were surrounded by a scattering of relatively dim white and green lights.
The heart-stopping, dazzling purple glow of a top-tier rarity hadn't appeared, but securing two blue-quality items in a single ten-pull was far from a disaster. In the unforgiving world of the Chat Group's gacha, this was actually a remarkably lucky haul.
Wise let out a long breath, his tense shoulders dropping. At the very least, he hadn't wasted his hard-earned points, nor had he let down Eous's dedicated lucky dance.
Never one to keep people in suspense, he immediately dismissed the blinding animation and turned to his sister. "The results are in. Two blue items. Not bad at all."
Belle's eyes practically turned into sparkling stars. She bounced in her seat, urging him on. "Two blues?! That's awesome! Hurry up, open them! Let's see what they are!"
Wise nodded, shifting his focus to the first hovering blue light cluster.
The glowing orb materialized into a physical form, resting lightly in his palm. It was a virtual skill scroll, its surface seemingly woven from cascading binary code and dotted with simplistic, cartoonish explosion icons.
A translucent system window popped up above the scroll, displaying its details in crisp text:
[Skill: Explode With You!!!]
[Quality: Blue]
[Description: This skill has been modified by special multiversal rules. It can only be learned and mastered by inorganic life forms, such as mechs, androids, and constructs.]
[Effect: When activated, the user consumes their own internal energy to instantly summon up to five energy clones. These clones will automatically lock onto hostile targets and launch fearless, self-destructing kamikaze attacks. As long as the main body possesses sufficient energy, this skill can be continuously activated to summon new clones, creating a chain of devastating explosions. Note: After each successful detonation, the explosive yield of subsequent clones will receive a minor cumulative multiplier, creating a "bursting" effect where each consecutive explosion hits harder than the last.]
[Limitation: The maximum number of clones that can exist simultaneously is five. Once a clone detonates, a new one can be summoned to instantly fill the vacancy.]
Reading through the detailed breakdown, Wise's expression shifted into something incredibly subtle. A wry, somewhat pained smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.
"Well, the good news is we definitely pulled a solid blue-quality skill," he said, his tone thick with complex emotions as he showed the screen to Belle. "But... the bad news is that it's completely useless to us. Neither of us can actually learn it."
The glaring restriction—Only for inorganic life forms—acted as an impenetrable brick wall. It firmly excluded him and Belle, both very much made of flesh and blood, from ever using it.
It was a genuinely powerful blue skill, dripping with the chaotic romance of 'art is an explosion,' yet it was entirely locked away from them. It felt exactly like stumbling upon a mountain of gold, only to realize you didn't bring a shovel. The frustration was real.
However, Belle's mind operated on a completely different wavelength.
Her eyes darted across the text, instantly locking onto the core restriction: Inorganic life form.
Almost immediately, her head whipped around. Her gaze landed squarely on Eous, who had just finished its dance and was currently tilting its round, metallic head, staring back at them with curious, blinking digital eyes.
"Brother!" Belle's voice spiked an octave, vibrating with the sheer thrill of a massive brainwave. "We can't use it, but Eous absolutely can! Isn't a Bangboo the literal textbook definition of an 'inorganic life form'? This skill is practically tailor-made for it!"
Her words struck Wise like a bolt of lightning, snapping him out of his disappointment.
He slapped his forehead, a wide grin breaking across his face. "You're completely right! How on earth did I forget about Eous?!"
He looked down at the little Bangboo, his previous helplessness evaporating into pure, unadulterated delight. This skill wasn't just a random drop; it was a flawless, custom-built combat technique for a support unit like a Bangboo.
Just picturing it was hilarious and terrifying. Eous, who usually handled safe reconnaissance, network support, and providing moral encouragement, could now instantly transform into a relentless, mobile bomb-delivery platform.
Not only would this drastically skyrocket Eous's ability to protect itself, but it would also allow the little guy to lay down heavy, suppressive fire on the battlefield. It could truly fight shoulder-to-shoulder with them.
"But..." Wise's analytical mind quickly rebooted, throwing a minor wrench into the fantasy. He eyed Eous's compact, spherical chassis with a hint of concern. "I just don't know how many times Eous's internal ether battery can handle the energy drain of summoning and detonating those clones. If it completely drains its power reserves after just three or four explosions and shuts down mid-fight, that's going to be a massive problem."
Still, that was merely an operational hurdle, not a dealbreaker. The sheer tactical advantage far outweighed the battery concerns.
The mere thought of Eous majestically charging into battle, raining explosive clones upon their enemies instead of just hiding in the backlines, filled both siblings with genuine excitement.
Eous would probably be thrilled, too. After all, the little Bangboo had always possessed a fierce desire to help them directly whenever things got dangerous.
Wise couldn't help but feel a strange, almost poetic sense of fate tying the whole moment together. He had received the blessing of a "lucky dance" from Eous, and the universe had immediately rewarded that blessing with an item that perfectly, exclusively benefited Eous itself.
Was this... a karmic closed loop of gacha blessings?
"Brother, stop spacing out! Hurry up, let's see what the second blue item is!" Belle's eager voice shattered his philosophical musings, pulling him right back to reality.
Shaking his head with a smile, Wise shifted his attention away from the explosive scroll and reached toward the second orb radiating a soft, azure glow.
