Chapter 160: Trailblazer, I've Come to Give You a Back Massage
March 7th and the Trailblazer followed Rekka onto the Hyperion, their eyes wide as they took in the strange, otherworldly menagerie he kept.
"I've never seen how a Honkai Beast is created before," March 7th murmured, a mix of fascination and caution in her voice.
"Actually," Rekka's voice echoed from a nearby console, his tone light and playful, "these are all just low-level Honkai Beasts~"
"Eh?" The Trailblazer pointed at a particularly menacing-looking creature contained in a stasis field. "Then what about that one? The 'Honkai Emperor'? Is that the highest level?"
"Nope~" Rekka corrected. "A Honkai Emperor is just the strongest among the low-level Honkai Beasts. Anything above that is an Emperor-class Honkai Beast~"
"So it's still just a low-level grunt," the Trailblazer concluded, nodding sagely.
Eh! A truly magnificent idea suddenly sparked in the Trailblazer's mind.
"I feel like these monsters are way more fun than Aetherium Wars," she declared, her eyes gleaming with chaotic inspiration. "Can we play Honkai-mon?"
March 7th stared at her. "?"
"You... you haven't had enough of Aetherium Wars yet?"
"You can~" Rekka's voice chimed in. "Go play with Rozaliya~ She's a MANTIS who fused with an Emperor-class Honkai Beast~"
"What?" The Trailblazer's jaw dropped. "So Rozaliya is an Emperor-class Honkai Beast?" Her mind immediately jumped to a dramatic conclusion. "Then if Rozaliya likes Rekka, wouldn't that be a forbidden interspecies romance?!"
March 7th: "?"
Rekka: "?"
"She's a human who underwent a fusion surgery," March 7th sighed, trying to steer her friend back to reality. "Not an actual Honkai Beast."
"Oh... so that's how it is." The Trailblazer seemed to understand for a moment, before a new wave of confusion washed over her. "Then does she count as a human or a Honkai Beast?"
"Of course she counts as a human~" Rekka's ethereal voice drifted from the depths of a swirling, miniature black hole he was tinkering with. "A MANTIS is a human. They just obtained the super-strong power and recovery abilities of a Honkai Beast~"
"Rekka, you have so many Honkai Beasts here," the Trailblazer said, an evil smile spreading across her face. "Lend me a few to play with."
One look was all it took to know that the Trailblazer was cooking up a truly devious plan.
"Sure~" Rekka replied, amused. "But what are you going to do with them~?"
"Nothing, nothing~ I just want to play with some high-level Honkai Beasts. The low-level ones aren't powerful enough to be fun."
"Then~ what level of Honkai Beast do you want to play with~?"
"How about at least an Emperor-class one?" The Trailblazer rubbed her hands together, practically vibrating with anticipation.
"Emperor-class~ They aren't easy to create, and they come with restrictions, you know~" Rekka warned playfully. "Emperor-class Honkai Beasts might develop consciousness. They can think~"
"Isn't that even more fun?" she shot back instantly.
Bonk.
March 7th lightly knocked her on the head. "Fun, my foot! That's incredibly dangerous, you know!"
"The Knight-class ones are too dull," the Trailblazer pouted, rubbing the spot. "They can't even talk. It's boring to play with them." Her eyes scanned the control panel before landing on a large, ominous red button. "Eh! Rekka, what is this 'Chiyou'?"
"It's a very dangerous Judgement-class Honkai Beast~" Rekka's voice lost some of its playfulness. "Don't press it~"
"Oh..." The Trailblazer stared at the button, her finger hovering just above its surface. "I want to press it."
"You cannot press it~" Rekka sounded a bit helpless. "How about this: I'll send you to fight an Emperor-class Honkai Beast. After you win, you can think about it again~"
"Okay, okay!" she agreed instantly.
This time, instead of sending her to a Stigmata Space, Rekka directly dropped the Trailblazer into a self-contained World Bubble.
"Your task," his voice echoed around her, "is to fight this Emperor-class Honkai Beast. Its strength is not bad~"
"Ah~ Then bring it on!"
But before the Trailblazer could even draw her lance, a colossal shadow fell over her. A massive, icy foot descended and simply… stepped on her.
The Chronicles of Trailblaze: The Back Massage.
You had to admit, Parvati really was one big blue elephant.
The Trailblazer was pressed so hard she was embedded into the frozen ground, her limbs splayed out in a perfect star shape. The excited, battle-ready expression was still frozen on her face.
'This isn't right!'she fumed internally.'Honkai: Star Rail isn't supposed to be like this! You should have let me consume Skill Points to use a Skill, then we should have traded punches, and then I should have filled up my Energy bar to unleash a cool Ultimate! Why did you just step on my back?! I don't accept this!'
But since things had come to this, and in order to earn the right to play with high-level Honkai Beasts, the Trailblazer knew she had to defeat this big blue elephant.
Two Parvatis—two of the giant, ice-blue Emperor-class Honkai Beasts—stood side by side. The cold air they exhaled condensed into tiny ice crystals that scattered down onto the flattened Trailblazer. This was her first time dueling two of them at once.
"Will it be dangerous?" March 7th asked from the Hyperion's observation deck, her voice laced with worry.
"It will be~" Rekka confirmed.
"It will be?! Trailblazer..."
"I was talking about the Parvati~" he clarified.
Down in the World Bubble, one Parvati stepped back, gathering its strength. It pawed at the icy ground, then broke into a thunderous charge, aiming straight for the still-prone Trailblazer. The force behind it was enough to shatter a mountain, but the Trailblazer…
She simply stood up.
As the beast slammed into her, she was pushed back, her boots carving deep trenches into the ice. But the Parvati's unstoppable charge slowed, then ground to a halt. The girl's hands were clamped firmly around its massive tusks, having intercepted the charging behemoth right in its tracks.
This move, stopping the colossal beast dead, left March 7th speechless. That kid was ridiculously strong.
The Parvati shook its head violently, trying to throw the Trailblazer off its tusks, but she didn't budge an inch.
Just then, the other Parvati began to retreat, its hind hooves digging into the ground, emitting a muffled, booming sound as it prepared its own charge.
"Trailblazer! Behind you!" March 7th yelled.
The Trailblazer merely glanced to the side. Her response was simple and brutal—she gripped the first Parvati's tusks and, with a guttural roar, violently heaved it to the side. The Emperor-class Honkai Beast, whose size was comparable to a mobile fortress, was dragged so hard it stumbled.
Then, she started to spin. The Parvati's four legs lifted completely off the ground, its massive body accelerating as the Trailblazer whirled it around and around like a gargantuan hammer.
"Haaaaaah—!"
With a final, explosive shout, she let go. The two Parvatis collided with a terrifying shockwave that cracked the very air. The one she had been spinning was sent flying, while the other rolled over and over with a thunderous crash, tumbling for what seemed like an eternity.
Even for an Emperor-class Honkai Beast, known for its thick hide and incredible toughness, the Trailblazer's version of "playing" was just too advanced.
"I won!" The Trailblazer struck a bodybuilding pose, flexing triumphantly. "Trailblazer, win!"
Just as the words left her mouth, the first Parvati scrambled back to its feet. It reared up and brought its full weight down in a Mount Tai press, once again squashing the momentarily careless Trailblazer flat into the ground.
She reached out a hand and patted the Parvati's enormous toe. "Hey, big guy. Have you stepped enough yet?"
The Parvati looked down at the hand, then pressed its foot down even harder.
"Fine," her muffled voice came from beneath the colossal limb. "You asked for it."
The Trailblazer's palm pressed against the sole of the Parvati's foot. With a surge of raw power, she began to push. That Emperor-class Honkai Beast, comparable in size to a small hill, was actually, slowly, being lifted.
She sat up from the ground, supporting the Parvati's entire front leg with both hands. Then, with a grunt of effort, she lifted it over her head like a barbell. The Trailblazer's monstrous strength was on full, intuitive display.
'It's just an ice pig,'she thought.'Watch me toss you back!'
The Parvati's four legs kicked wildly in the air, emitting a series of confused, low growls.
The Trailblazer bent her knees, then launched herself high into the air, still holding the flailing Honkai Beast. The golden light of a Path's power flared around her.
Then, she began to spin the Parvati in the air. One circle, another circle...
"Haaaaaah!!!"
With a final, mighty heave, the Trailblazer planted her feet on the Parvati's belly and kicked off, sending the Emperor-class Honkai Beast plummeting rapidly toward the ground.
A huge crater exploded on the frozen plains. Ice shards and rubble shot into the sky like a volcanic eruption.
At the bottom of the pit, the Parvati lay embedded in the shattered earth. Its four legs kicked toward the sky twice before it finally went still. It exhaled one last puff of white air and, with a final, violent shudder, exploded into glittering particles of light.
