Toby marched Korvin around the fountain while Jonas dragged the other two clerks along by their binding cords behind him. Hajin met their return beneath the registry canopy, keeping the battle's surrendered men well apart from all three recaptured officials.
"Western road," Toby kept his bow trained above the bindings while the prisoners stumbled past the covered records, "we checked it after the armory, and these three were crouched behind a hay cart where the bridge lane was blocked."
"A hay cart?" Hajin snorted, looking the officials over from their muddy hems to their sweaty collars, "seriously, that was the master plan?"
"They bolted the second we reached the turn."
"All three, no boxes, no weapons," Jonas grunted, slapping the cords into Sable's waiting hand while his shield kept the prisoners off the seized stamps, "once the riders stopped, that road couldn't hide a lame goat."
