Chapter 24 - My Shadow

Satya felt something drilling into the deepest parts of his mind,

It was searching for something.

The pain of it was unbearable,

He covered his head with his hands and started rolling on the ground.

Then the pain intensified and he felt something being destroyed in his mind,

Or perhaps erased.

After about half an hour of intense pain, rolling on the ground, slamming his head against the wall, when his head finally bled, the pain started lessening.

After all this pain, Satya finally took a breath of relief.

He diverted his eyes from the walls, in order not to read them.

Outside the gates, Satya saw the shadow, trying in an endless maneuver to get inside, but something was always there to stop it.

It was the invisible force of the wall, capable of stopping even the intangible.

"Why can't you get inside.. "

Satya asked the Shadow, trying to feel the invisible barrier with his hands, but all he could feel was the air.

"The wall of ancient times, denies entry to those, not truly alive."

A black hand manifested into reality, to touch the barrier in a hopeless endeavor.

To grasp the force, but to no avail.

Satya tried to look at the walls despite the fear of pain, in order to find something to help the shadow get inside.

He looked everywhere,

Then at a warning in a hidden corner, was where he saw his last hope.

It ordered.

[Only those beings with a heart may cross this wall]

Satya started to rack his brain, in order to come up with a solution for the Shadow.

"Wait... This is written as a double meaning word with maybe a loophole.

Beings with a heart could interpret emotions,

but the Shadow has emotions so that's not it,

Then perhaps it means those beings, who are alive with a heart... So the loophole is that beings with a heart, not beings who have a heart.

This can be interpreted from the definition...

So if the Shadow becomes my Shadow,

Then it should have a heart, if so can it possibly enter?. "

Satya starts walking back and forth thinking of the loopholes and interpretation of the transcript.

"Perhaps, this is the right method....

Shall we give it a try ?."

"Alright traveller, but are you able to handle my perspective, For me to become your Shadow, means you may see the world in my eyes."

"You don't even have eyes..."

Satya looks at the Shadow, trying to find its eyes

"But I get the perspective and we won't find out till we give it a try. "

So they step outside.

The shadow starts chanting a spell,

Satya tries to find out what the incantation is,

but he can't,

because the shadow seems to be saying it in a way, hidden from Satya, yet present to the surroundings.

Suddenly, the whole world is covered in an eternal darkness,

Soon the darkness starts to cover Satya's entire being.

Satya starts feeling an enormous pain emanating from his being itself,

His being is starting to be altered into something else.

"Arghh.. You didn't...say it would...hurt this bad. "

Satya says while clutching his head

Soon he loses consciousness from the pain.

Satya feels like mere moments had passed, as he is dragged back into reality by shadow.

"Argh"

A groan escapes his mouth.

"Move inside, it's coming"

The Shadow says while forcibly taking Satya out of his daze.

"Huh.. Move.. Where"

Satya still in his daze, walks ahead.

"Run ahead and don't look back"

The Shadow warns Satya.

"..."

Satya still in his dazed state, walks for a bit

"RUN"

Hearing the Shadow sound panicked, Satya starts to run towards the barrier.

Just as soon as, Satya falls inside the barrier,

Something slams into it.

Satya tries to look back, but the Shadow forces Satya to look ahead.

"Keep running and don't look at the transcripts."

Shadow warns Satya in a stern manner.

Satya starts to run again and keeps his head down, to not look at the transcripts.

Soon Satya reaches inside and sees a town covered by a curtain of white fog.

"What was that ?"

Satya asks the Shadow catching his breath.

"It was [The Human Sketch]"

Hearing that name, Satya feels something trying to creep into his mind.

{Loopholes present in reality,

Ever growing through out heaven and earth,

Those who use them,

May dance in eternal wealth,

Under the sun.}
