Betty stood behind Jude looking very pale
The police officer's voice remained firm
"Mr Maguire, we are not asking for your permission but we are only respecting you by informing you"
Jude's expression changed slightly
"You just waltz into my office to accuse my assistant based on anonymous evidence and expect me to simply hand her over to you?", he said firmly
"But sir, we have enough grounds to actually question her", the officer said sharply
"This doesn't look like you want to question her. You are actually treating her like a criminal", Jude replied sharply
Betty moved slightly behind him
"Thank you, sir", she whispered
The officer was holding a folder and reached into it
"We are not here to argue with you Mr Maguire", he said as he pulled out a document
"Miss Betty Kane's name appears in connection with communications linked to the reopening of the James Brooks case", he continued
Jude looked at him directly
