"You mean the James Brooks case from thirteen years ago?", he repeated quietly
The secretary nodded nervously
"Yes, sir", she replied slowly
The office suddenly felt smaller as Jude slowly shifted his eyes back to Betty
Betty looked as if she had lost all the blood from her body as her hands started to tremble and it terrified Jude more than what the secretary just said
Jude looked at the secretary back sharply as he felt he remembered something
"Were you told the person that sent the evidence to the police?", he asked
The secretary shook her head quickly
"No. They didn't say, sir"
There was silence instantly as Jude felt a strange sensation settle inside him
He felt Betty wasn't reacting like someone who had simply spread rumors because she was jealous but was reacting like someone who knew exactly how dangerous this whole situation had become
"Hmmmmn....", he sighed heavily
"Sir...?", the secretary said
Jude's eyes were still fixed on Betty
