Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: The Hostile Takeover of the World

The death of the High Priest wasn't just a military loss for the Empire; it was a spiritual bankruptcy. Within a week, the "Crimson Sun" that once symbolized the Emperor's divine right had become a punchline in the teahouses of the Capital.

In the North, Outpost Alpha was no longer a hidden fort. It was a sprawling, smoke-belching metropolis of iron and steam.

[System Milestone: Emperor of Industry Class Activated] [New Passive: 'Standardized Units' – All production costs reduced by 30%. All Syndicate weapons now use interchangeable parts.] [New Active: 'Monopoly Pulse' – Briefly disable all non-Syndicate financial transactions within a 100-mile radius.]

Su Chen sat in his new command center—a room filled with clicking mechanical tickers and glowing holographic maps powered by the captured Qi of the High Priest.

"Master," Han Jing entered, looking more like a high-level executive than a scholar. "The 50,000 System Points have been processed. The first Automated Assembly Line is online in the basement levels. We are producing a thousand Soul-Cracker rifles a day."

"Not enough," Su Chen said, his eyes fixed on the map of the Eastern Sea. "The Emperor is desperate. He's stopped trying to 'ascend' his people. He's started selling the Empire's sovereign territory to the Overseas Kingdoms in exchange for their forbidden artifacts. He's trying to liquidate the country to save his own skin."

"The Overseas Kingdoms?" General Yan growled. "Those seafaring barbarians have been waiting for a chance to invade for centuries."

"They aren't invading, Yan. They're 'investing'," Su Chen corrected with a cold smile. "But they're buying assets that already belong to me. It's time we showed them the difference between a king and a Boss."

The Strategic Reinvestment

Su Chen looked at his 55,000 SP (50k reward + 5k remaining). It was time for a Tier 3 technological leap that would change the face of naval warfare.

[Purchase: Tier 3 Naval Tech – The Ironclad 'Dreadnought' Class] Cost: 40,000 SP Description: A steam-powered, iron-hulled warship. Equipped with rotating turret cannons and an underwater 'Qi-Ram'. Immune to standard fire-magic and wooden-ship ballistas.

[Total SP Remaining: 15,000]

"Han Jing, I want the dry docks at the river mouth expanded," Su Chen commanded. "We are going to build a ship that doesn't need the wind. A ship that breathes fire and speaks in thunder. We're going to the Eastern Sea to 'negotiate' with these foreign investors."

The New Currency

While the factory roared to life, Su Chen turned to the final piece of his global strategy.

"General Yan, the five thousand warhorses we got from the Iron Tusk... give them to the peasants in the West. But they aren't a gift."

"A loan?" Yan asked.

"A Lease-Lend agreement," Su Chen said. "They get the horses and the rifles to defend their homes. In return, they must sell all their harvested grain and raw ores exclusively to the Syndicate at a fixed price. We are moving from a 'Mercantile Guild' to a 'Global Supply Chain'."

[Ding! Strategic Expansion Initiated: Vertical Integration.] [New Goal: Seize the Eastern Trade Routes.]

The Departure

The chapter ends with Su Chen standing on the docks of the newly christened Syndicate Port.

Behind him, the first Ironclad—a monstrous beast of black steel and churning paddles—was sliding into the water. Its hull bore no name, only a giant, gilded ledger.

"Master," Madam Qin whispered, appearing at his side. "The Emperor has fled the Capital. He's gone to the Island of the Immortals to meet the Sea King. They are signing a treaty to divide the Empire between them."

"Let them sign," Su Chen said, stepping onto the gangplank of his new flagship. "I've already shorted their treaty. By the time we reach the Eastern Sea, their signatures won't be worth the ink they're written with."

The engines of the Ironclad let out a deafening blast of steam, a sound that shook the very air.

"Set course for the Eastern Sea," Su Chen ordered. "We have a world to audit."
