Chapter 4 - I know you too want answers (2)

I woke up, stretched a little, but wait a minute...…

I fell asleep after promising not to.

I looked around , but my room mate was not in. That was not surprising.

I Checked my alarm, the time was around 9:50 in the morning.

" Shoot, class!" I rushed out of bed and ran into the bathroom as I remembered Andrew's spying act and with the same speed I ran out of the bathroom. I sprayed the hell out of my uniform using my bunk mate's perfume, and used mine also. I wore my uniform really fast, wore my shoe and ran as fast as I could.

My abdomen hurts so bad. I don't know what the biologist calls it but you know the way your stomach feels after running for so long but have to continue running, I don't want seven days of detention nor do I want to get demerits for being late. I tried to keep my pace though it kept getting weaker.

On getting to the classes area,

I realized that it was empty.

I know, but I have got to ask the obvious;

" Where did everyone go?"

The school has never been that empty, was I left behind? Rapture? Andrew?

Series of thoughts kept rushing in.

I could not just make meaning out of it.

A musical sound snapped me back to reality. It came from the Chapel, then I realize I am the stupid one, it's our Biology teacher's burial.

"May her souls rest in perfect peace," I made a gentle prayer for her before heading down the chapel. I had to run again!

I was able to get to the church but on getting it was the time the undertakers were passing. I wanted to rush in before the door was shut but I ended up hitting them, they staggered but the coffin didn't fall although I nearly fell but I was able to gain balance on time.

Everyone was putting on either black or white and I was the odd one with the school's uniform. I walked over to Nafisat, since there was an empty seat beside her.

" Why did you leave without telling me?" I whined.

" I came to your room this morning, but you were not there. Where did you go early this morning?" Nafisat asked and with her intonations I could guess she was sincere.

" I was in bed all through. I didn't go out this morning." I replied. That's weird, I don't remember going somewhere, nor do I remember dreaming of going out.

" Maybe you were sleep walking?" Nafi said.

" I woke up on my bed. I don't think that's possible with sleep walking!" I replied bluntly.

" Okay. If you say so." Nafisat agreed unwillingly which is so unlike her.

The programme continued. We were all asked to sit for a while. I tried to concentrate but I kept going back to what Nafisat said.

"Even if I was sleep walking, how did I end up back on my bed and even covered with my clothes. Being choked is not enough or what? Or is Nafi lying? Why would she lie. Or is it Andrew? It should not be! I have to find who is behind all these before the person finds me. My first suspect Andrew. I know you might be wondering why I suspect Andrew but please look at this the way I see it. " My mind kept wandering.

Finally, it was over. Everyone rushed out, no one was interested in waiting behind. Nafisat dragged me so we could leave, but I noticed that Andrew was still seated. Emma tapped him but he wouldn't go with her.

"Why is he still here? Or is he feeling guilty?" I thought as I followed Nafisat's lead.

It was hard to leave, since everyone wanted to leave at once.

And I was the cat curiosity was killing at that point. I needed to go back, this is my turn, my chance. Emma wasn't there, I would be able to ask whatever question I wanted to. I can't just leave Nafisat and leave, that would be so unfair.

As goodness would have its way, Kelvin walked over to us. Nafisat's boyfriend, I have never been happy with their relationship, but today, I am more than glad and grateful. I left Nafisat and Kelvin and went back.

I sat beside Andrew. He didn't seem to notice it at first, his head was placed on the chair in front of him. I had no idea what to say or did that would catch his attention.

He raised his head slowly, turned to me. His face was pale like he has been living in a freezer. It's true what they say, there's no sleep for the wicked.

" Why are you still here?" He asked

" I.....I....I....saw you .....I ....hum..... thought ..... " I stuttered unable to find my tongue.

" Please leave. " Though the word came out calmly, he sounded so rude. That makes me more suspicious. " You heard me I said get out!!!" He raised his voice a little higher and a bit shaky especially at the last word.

I wanted to leave, but I just feel so glued to my seat at this moment. His eyes were burning with anger, while mine were drowned in despair.

" Why are you still seated....., please... leave!!!" His voice went from anger to pain, the kind that screams fear and loss.

He wrapped his hands around my neck, placed his head on my shoulder. I could feel his breath on my neck. After like a second, I could feel tears running down his eyes, probably because they were landing on my shoulders spelling out fear, pain, regret and something else that is interesting...GUILT.

I stroked his hair with my hands while I secretly prayed for Emma not to enter cause, I would be sentenced to death if she does. We maintained that position for like half an hour.

" Andrew are you fine?" I asked.

He raised his head from my shoulder, cleaned his eyes, stood up, then started to leave like he snapped without saying a word. I followed him, asking the same question till he paused.

" I am good and forget about everything." He said like his pride just kicked in and he patted my head and then continued waking.

" Why are you being weird?" She's so stubborn, he must have thought.

He paused, turned to me. He walked closer to me. The closer he got, I had to move back a little till I hit the wall and there was no place to turn to, I could feel my heart beat raising.

" I am fine. " He finally let out the ridiculous words he wanted to say after the long drama.

" Ohhhhh, so I should assume you were just watering your eyes because it's dirty right?" I said nearly raising my voice while looking at him straight in the eye.

" That's okay. " He agreed. I thought they said this guy was smart, he expects me to believe the gibberish he called words. He pushed me to the side, and left. Thanks to my bow leg I could find no balance, but the floor is quite nice, it caught me.

If I had the chance I would kill him, going to jail would be better than being with humans.

But wait....this guy is funny but?
