It was evening at a beach house. The air smelled a little salty, and the sun was slowly sinking into the ocean. The sky was painted orange and warm. A drone camera moved closer, and the title of the show "Heartbeat Again" appeared on screen. Everything looked like a normal dating show.
Shen Yizhou was standing at the door.
He wore a black suit, clean and sharp. He looked calm and distant, like someone from a business magazine, not a dating show.
"Mr. Shen, you can go in now," the director said with a smile.
He nodded and walked inside.
The living room was empty. Soft lights, sofas in a circle, and big windows facing the sea. A typical setup. He looked around, then sat down calmly.
Soon, the door opened again.
"Hi."
A man walked in with a friendly smile. "I'm Zhou Jingran."
"Shen Yizhou," he replied.
They shook hands and talked a little. Zhou Jingran was easygoing, while Shen Yizhou was quieter but not awkward.
Then the third man arrived.
"Nice place," he said. "Lu Chen, I do social media."
He quickly made the atmosphere more lively.
The fourth man came in.
"Chen Xu. Doctor." He didn't say much, but felt reliable.
Now there were four men, each with a different style. Everything felt normal.
Then the door opened again.
The sound of high heels.
Everyone looked over.
Shen Yizhou looked too.
And froze.
A woman stood at the door. White dress, black hair, calm and cool.
She looked at him and smiled.
"Long time no see."
Her voice was light, but something changed in the air.
Zhou Jingran smiled politely. "Hi."
Lu Chen glanced between them, a little curious.
The woman walked in and sat down.
"Lin Wanqing."
She spoke calmly.
Shen Yizhou only nodded.
The mood shifted slightly.
The door opened again.
Another woman walked in. Red dress, confident, strong presence. She looked around and focused on Shen Yizhou.
"What a coincidence."
Then she said, "Su Zhi."
Lu Chen laughed. "Do you know each other?"
"We've met," she said.
Shen Yizhou stayed silent.
But that silence already meant something.
The third girl came in.
Jiang Nian.
She looked gentle. When she saw Shen Yizhou, she paused for a moment, then smiled softly.
"So you're here too."
Now Zhou Jingran felt something was wrong.
He looked at Shen Yizhou, then at her, but didn't speak.
The fourth girl, Gu Qingzhi, entered.
She was calm. When she saw Shen Yizhou, she only gave a small nod.
The fifth girl, Cheng Zhi, walked in last.
She kept looking at Shen Yizhou and smiled.
"Everyone's here."
Lu Chen finally asked, "Do you all know him?"
No one answered.
But the silence said everything.
Shen Yizhou sat in the center, feeling the pressure growing.
Then the broadcast started.
"Welcome, everyone."
"For the first day, we'll start with a simple question."
A card was brought out.
"Is there anyone here that you knew before?"
The room went quiet.
Everyone looked at each other.
Then all eyes went to Shen Yizhou.
He paused.
Before he could speak, Su Zhi smiled. "Interesting question."
Lin Wanqing stayed silent.
Jiang Nian looked down.
Cheng Zhi watched him closely.
Gu Qingzhi said nothing.
Finally, Shen Yizhou spoke.
"Yes."
Just one word.
But enough.
Lu Chen chuckled. "Feels like we missed something."
Zhou Jingran didn't smile. He looked serious now.
Chen Xu adjusted his glasses and kept watching.
The broadcast continued.
"Next question."
"Is there anyone here you regret losing?"
Now the tension was real.
Shen Yizhou didn't answer right away.
He looked around.
Different eyes. Different emotions.
Then he said, "Yes."
No name.
But heavier than any name.
Lin Wanqing lowered her eyes.
Jiang Nian's fingers tightened slightly.
Su Zhi's smile became sharper.
Cheng Zhi's eyes lit up.
The three male guests also changed.
