Chapter 8 - The war for survival

The heavy aura of the God, which ran through him, made him flood with a mysterious, but slightly familiar feeling.

"Respected, God. What do you mean by 'Gods don't bow to another?'"[Morvadeus curiously asked. Looking at his majestic presence his eyes shone.

"Morvadeus, the secrets of your origins are world shaking, you're not ready to find out yet," the God with a mysterious smile plastered on his face said.

"If you become strong enough to subdue that powerful serpent outside, I will tell you the secret of your origins," he disappointed Morvadeus.

"I won't disappoint your expectations," he proudly said.

But until then, we shall speak of an important matter," the God's heavenly voice echoed.

"The Mortal World is sealed by me and the Mother God. But the monsters are attacking relentlessly, and we can't hold on much longer," the heavy voice of the god, sunk with the deep pressure of the ocean into Morvadeus' ears.

"You just need to know. Our World fate lays in your hand, you're the only one capable of stopping them," he explained, making Morvadeus freeze, his breath quickening.

"I? But I'm just a child," Morvadeus respectfully answered.

"You're not just a child, Morvadeus. You're a god ranking above everyone else. You're the Caleomir's chosen to fight against the impossible," his voice rang in Morvadeus' ears.

"The chosen one?," he asked with wonder.

"I need to protect the world? "he asked again.

The core behind the God started to shake, making him panicky. Morvadeus fell on his bottom, the cave shaking from the powers.

The silence of the room was broken by ear piercing howling of monsters. Black-red head appeared in the core, his eyes looking around, preying for anything. The bloody teeth combined with his sharp gaze made Morvadeus shiver.

This wasn't just a simple monster, but a creature whose powers equaled that of a God.

Even through the barrier, it made Morvadeus scared.

Behind him, were millions and millions more. A legion with bloodlust looking at the perimeter of the Mortal World. As if ravens were stalking their prey, they weren't in a hurry. They prowled them with patience, knowing that this world one day will be devoured under their sharp teeth.

Morvadeus' blood boiled, an ancient roar resounding in his mind. His eyes unconsciously blackened yet again, making the God before him surprised.

He swiftly closed the scene in the core, with a satisfied smile on his face.

The God wanted to praise Morvadeus, when his midnight black eyes with scarlet red in the centre glared at him, making even him shiver.

"You're surely their child, ha-ha-ha," he laughed nervously, slowly fading into the core.

"Even if it cost my life I shall hold them back. I won't perish before I witness the scene of you bathing yourself in the million corpses of these damned monsters"

He swiftly said in one breath and faded away.

Morvadeus stood stupefied there, the heavy fate of the world weighing on his shoulders. His little satisfaction of himself evaporated from him, knowing someone was fighting in his stead to save time for him.

The silence felt heavy, the little child's legs were trembling. He stood alone, gazing at the now silently circulating core.

Sitting down on a rock, he took a branch in his hand and chewed on it, while he pondered deeply.

"You damn old geezer, you literally told me nothing," throwing a rock at the core he shouted.

That was his personality, he never stayed down, melancholic. He always aimed to go forward.

Nothing would hold him back, from flying as a proud Draco between the heavenly clouds!

Nothing would stop him from standing at the top of the Mortal World, living a carefree life!

No one shall tell him what to do.

He will live his own way.

He won't listen to the mumbling of an old god.

He won't fear the monsters from the outside.

'I will shape my destiny, and write my fate!' getting up motivated, Morvadeus headed outside.

--- ---

'Still not coming out, stinky kid. Should I wait here till my crystals grew roots in this ground?,' thought Cryduae, annoyed that she couldn't be part of the conversations.

Before Morvadeus could enjoy his peace, coming out of the gate. Someone bonked him in his head making it hurt.

"What's your problem, old woman?" he asked her annoyingly.

"I've been waiting for you for half a day!!" she shouted at him.

Morvadeus was already frustrated with the mysterious God who spoke in riddles.

Taking the branch in his hand, he found the perfect outlet for his frustration.

Chasing Cryduae the two comically ran around, sometimes hitting her crystal bottom a clinking sound was heard.

The branch broke in Morvadeus' hand till nothing remained.

Cryduae was running when she pushed someone down, making her fall to the ground.

"Sisteeeer! I'm sorry, I didn't see you," she apologized, helping her sister up.

"You're naughty as always, Cryduae," her sister sighed.

"Is this the child, who was invited by our God personally?" her sister's eyes started to shine as she shouted.

Before Morvadeus could react, a couple dozen of Crystallis appeared, and started to hug him, kiss his cheeks, and throw him up in the air.

They cheered for him, for having to meet their God personally. Thus, they accepted him as a close friend of theirs.

Taking Morvadeus' hand, Cryduae escaped with him.

--- ---

Cryduae was sitting with Cryunus and Morvadeus around a crystal table in the royal crystal hall.

"I want to go back outside," Morvadeus told them.

"You hate me? Don't you want to stay with us?" Cryduae teary eyes asked.

Cryunus looked at his thousand years old sister laughing inside.

"I have an important task to fulfil, my father is also waiting for me," he seriously said, ignoring Cryduae comment just now.

"I won't ask what God spoke to you about, we trust you. We will also help you to go back to the ground," Cryunus kindly spoke to him, making Cryduae flailing her legs in frustration.

"There's a way out of here. But you would need to go back to the lake and the serpent is blocking it, waiting for you," warned Cryunus.

"He will never give up, the blood of a Draco is important for a serpent. If it succeeds in devouring you, it would be able to evolve into a majestic Draco," Cryunus sighed.

"I can help him escape," Cryduae voice echoed happily, light bulbs lightning up in her mind

"I would like to say no, but I know if you take something in your mind theres no one stopping you…"

"Then it's decideeeed," Hurreey, Cryduae celebrated in her mind.

"I didn't agree to it yet," Morvadeus wanted to cut her celebration, but getting the glares from her he knew better.

A sphere crystal, with a boy in it holding for his life, was shot out from the barrier of the Crystallis City.

The sleeping serpent woke up immediately, his eyes looking at Morvadeus who smirked at him with his tongue out.

'You damn, food. Dare to smirk at your ancestor, see how I swallow you!' the serpent thought, then swiftly chased after the sphere.

"You just made him angry," sighed Cryduae .

"That's what he gets, for preying on me hi-hi."

No matter how hard it tried, how fast it slithered, it couldn't catch the sphere.

The serpent eyes angrily looked at the escaping Morvadeus whose laugh was encompassed by the crystal. The white teeth of his making the serpent crazy.

Seeing their destination he knew they were trying to escape, swiping with his tail, it made the crystal bounce more clinking on the walls. But the power of Cryduae held it together, no matter what the serpent did, all was but a futile try.

The crystal landed on the ground, bouncing towards the outside, heading into the lake.

Splashing into the cold water, Cryduae controlled towards its exit at the bottom of it.

Morvadeus was just enjoying the fun, laughing while Cryduae also was in euphoria.

The Serpent's disappointed hiss sounded in the background as he let them leave.

As the sphere plummeted deeper, the darkness of the lake took over. Their only light source is the little shining sphere.

Out of nowhere, a massive, ancient gate appeared, embedded in the lake's wall. Its surface was rusted, bound by thick chains of metal. A massive bronze lock held them together, with a hollow shape in the centre - maybe the slot for a key, for a place long faded into the forgotten time of the mortal world.

"Is this some kind of secret place?"Morvadeus asked Cryduae, glimpsing at the old gate.

"I don't know about it, none of us ever tried to escape from here," Cryduae explained.

They could only catch a glimpse of it, as the surge of the water in the bottom, swiped them towards the exit.

Seeing the light on the end of it they both laughed happily.
