Chapter 140: Call Me Lord Menka!

*Snap!*

With a crisp snap of her fingers, Maid-chan shattered the spatial gates behind the trio. At the same time, she unrolled a massive barrier that completely enveloped the Dark Death Star, cutting off all outside interference.

[LanLi: Previously I thought it was Meido but its actually body mind of Shirazawa.]

Down below, Shiro stared up at the familiar figure who had suddenly dropped in, her face filled with surprise. She really hadn't expected to see the cat-eared maid here. Had D actually come back too?

"Little Meow, what are you doing here?" Shiro asked, thoroughly confused.

*Meow meow meow!!!*

Maid-chan practically jumped three feet into the air, her claws wildly scratching the empty space. "Stop calling me Little Meow!!!" she barked, her cheeks puffing up in a pout. "I have a real name! Call me Lord Menka!"

"Sure thing, Little Meow~" Shiro replied casually.

Their casual back-and-forth across the sky left Zeus and his remaining companions breaking out in a cold sweat. It was glaringly obvious that this new arrival was working with that terrifying woman.

Sariel was starting to suspect whether this whole situation was a trap set up well in advance. Why on earth did she have to pop up exactly at a critical juncture like this? She was even beginning to wonder if Zeus had secretly betrayed the Pantheon, deliberately leading these outsiders into their territory while using her and Mael as a formal sacrifice to seal the alliance. Otherwise, the timing was simply too coincidental.

Right then, Shirazawa suddenly turned his gaze over. "You two know each other?" He could sense a faint, familiar presence radiating from the cat-eared maid—a case of a familiar stranger.

Menka blinked, seemingly catching onto something, and instantly backed away to stand right next to Shiro with a guarded look. She lowered her voice and said, "We shouldn't linger here. One of the Primary Deities from the Pantheon has detected the anomaly in this sector and is already rushing over."

Seeing the gravity of the situation, Shirazawa dropped his questions about the maid's true identity, preparing to wrap this fight up as quickly as possible.

"One each?" Shiro asked, looking over to get Menka's input.

Menka agreed without a second thought. These three bird-men represented performance targets; once she cleared this gig, she'd be rolling in rewards from the organization. Since Shirazawa and Shiro weren't on the official payroll, she got to keep the entire payout all to herself, which made her incredibly happy inside.

"I'll pin down the bird-man in the middle. You guys wrap yours up quickly, then come back to back me up." The moment the words left her mouth, Menka lunged straight toward Zeus.

Under D's intense training, she had successfully stepped into the realm of gods, becoming a fully qualified Lower Underworld Deity. But considering Menka spent her days working right at the core of the Underworld alongside a swarm of legendary heavy hitters, she couldn't be judged by the standards of a common lower god. Back when she started, just the introductory greeting gifts from the upper management had filled her pockets to bursting.

Who could blame them? She was currently the favorite helper sitting right by the Underworld Emperor's side; her status and backing were on another level now. Armed with a full set of divine-tier equipment, the cat-eared maid confidently locked onto Zeus. A Middle God was basically on the same level as the ladies who cleaned the bathrooms back in the Underworld core. If she couldn't even handle a guy like this, it would be an embarrassment to her name, and a total waste of her high-tier gear.

"I can sense my Father God rushing over right now!!" Zeus barked, his spine instantly straightening up as he delivered an authoritative command to Mael and Sariel. "The Dark Death Star is locked down by a barrier, meaning he can't execute a direct spatial warp. Flying over will take a bit of time. Pin them down!"

With a dramatic sweep of his hand, a massive sea of lightning gathered right in the palm of his hand. The thunderous crackles carried a heavy weight, each boom laced with destructive shockwaves.

"Divine Punishment?" Menka's eyes narrowed slightly. While the lightning looked impressive, she happened to be packing a specialized shield designed specifically to absorb electrical energy.

*Boom-crack!!!*

A bolt of heavenly judgment tore through the empty air, slamming directly toward the cat-eared maid.

"Meow-meow!" Menka let out a sharp cry, a palm-sized black shield materializing in mid-air to cleanly intercept the falling lightning.

*Hum!*

The shield vibrated violently. The next instant, a dense cluster of mystical runes materialized out of thin air all around it. Moving like a swarm of tadpoles, the runes circled the edge of the shield, locking together into a massive magic circle that instantly suppressed the surrounding space.

Zeus's expression shifted dramatically. He suddenly realized his lightning element output had completely dissolved into nothingness. What on earth was going on?

Before he could even process the shock, the cat-eared maid reached behind her and hauled out a colossal club. Looking closer, the very end of the shaft was tipped with a massive iron hammerhead.

"Die!"

The hammer ignited with black demonic flames, forged from an unidentifiable material. With Menka's furious shout, the massive hammer began spinning at high speeds, whipping up a violent hurricane across the landscape.

*Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!*

The massive iron hammer blurred into a solid wall of afterimages, pouring down toward Zeus like a collapsing sky, looking ready to crack the heavens wide open. Zeus's pupils shrank. He couldn't believe a weapon of this caliber could actually exist in the world. Gritting his teeth, he hoisted his sword to meet the descending hammerhead head-on.

Holy light and black flames tangled together, unleashing an endless stream of sonic booms across the air.

Watching from a distance, the couple exchanged a quick look, thoroughly stunned by the cat-eared maid's raw, violent aesthetic and the absurd power of her weapon.

"Let's move too," Shirazawa said, locking his gaze onto Mael while leaving the seemingly delicate Sariel to Shiro.

His legendary blade, Zangetsu, cleared its sheath with a deafening ring, humming with a primal thirst for battle and blood.

"Alright!" Shiro replied, cracking her knuckles as she gave her white scythe a sleek, practiced spin through the air.

A streak of crimson and a streak of white rocketed straight up into the air, closing the distance to their respective targets.

Sariel, known as the Angel of the Moon and the First-Month Guardian Angel, gathered a soft cluster of moonlight, summoning a crescent moon shape to stage her defense. But with the terrain saturated with dark elements and the sky buried under heavy shadows, she could barely squeeze out eighty percent of her peak strength.

Pair that with her deep, lingering dread of Shiro's one-shot gaze, and her movements became hesitant and guarded. This caused Sariel's offensive patterns to consistently fall short of their mark. Instead of a brutal clash between gods, their sequence looked more like two butterflies dancing across the dark sky—one pursuing, one dodging, carrying a strange aesthetic charm.

But the action on the other side of the battlefield was entirely devoid of elegance and peace.

*Clang!*

Weapons clashed violently, sending a shower of bright sparks flying across the air. The black blade of Zangetsu locked hard against a long-handled battleaxe, their respective black and white divine radiances grinding against each other to whip up a howling gale.

Mael, the Third-Month Guardian Angel representing those who look up to the gods, stood at an average height, his entire body fully encased in pristine white knightly armor. The six holy wings on his back shimmered with a distinct metallic luster, looking exceptionally sharp and solid. He gripped his massive battleaxe with both hands, utilizing a sequence of holy footwork to press the offensive with simple, brutal efficiency.

"Demons of the Abyss, accept the holy judgment of light!" Mael barked with a confident glower, his massive axe slicing through the shadows to trail a freezing, brilliant glare. A torrential wave of holy light surged forward like an ocean tide, attempting to swallow the shadows whole to carve out a bright pocket of space.

"Heh~"

Facing Mael's oncoming surge, Shirazawa didn't harbor a single trace of fear. He let out a dismissive laugh, a quick snap of his wrist unfurling a glowing green boundary.

"Antimagic Field, open!"

Considering how badly this exact barrier used to torture him back in the day, utilizing it against someone else now felt spectacular. The holy light instantly dissolved into nothingness the moment it crossed the perimeter, leaving a completely dumbfounded Mael standing frozen in mid-air.

"No... what kind of cheat code is this?!" Mael stammered.

The only response he received was the freezing arc of Shirazawa's blade.

*Slash—*

Zangetsu cleanly sliced across Mael's chest armor, drawing a brilliant trail of crimson blood.

"Huh. So an angel's blood actually runs red too," Shirazawa muttered under his breath.

*Hum—*

The edge of the blade vibrated sharply, a heavy, creeping mist of corrosion beginning to rise from the steel. This legendary weapon possessed an incredibly unique set of properties, meaning its innate traits weren't affected by the barrier's magic nullification effect in the slightest.

Back in the day, when he told old man Ronandt that "the peak of magic is the complete absence of magic," he had been entirely *bluffing*. Zangetsu was the proof of that reality. High-tier attributes like the Abyss, death, and corrosion naturally existed well above the parameters of standard magic. Even in an area entirely devoid of ambient mana, Zangetsu's traits could still function perfectly.

As for that holy light... apologies, but light elements still fell under the umbrella of standard system magic. If it had been a high-tier Life attribute existing above the elemental framework, it might have actually been worth looking at. Unfortunately, the profoundly selfish gods of the Pantheon had zero intention of sharing the true secrets of the divine mountains with their Seraph underlings. They weren't nearly as open-handed as D, who would casually drop introductory, intermediate, and advanced magical literature right into her subordinates' laps.

There was a very solid reason why the Underworld faction remained so powerfully ahead.

"A divine core from a Lower God... I'm genuinely looking forward to harvesting this one," Shirazawa murmured, his eyes locking onto his prey.
