Chapter 62 - A Life That No Longer Pushes Back

The villa didn't feel like a place he was trapped in anymore.

It didn't feel like something he had to understand either.

It just… was.

Shen Yichen moved through the space without tracking himself through it.

That used to be the point of everything—constant awareness, constant readiness.

Now it was gone.

Lu Han watched him for a long moment before speaking.

"You've reached a point where your mind isn't resisting anymore," he said.

Shen Yichen didn't deny it.

"…I think it stopped resisting a while ago," he replied quietly.

Lin Yue looked at him softly.

"And what replaced it?" she asked.

Shen Yichen paused.

"…Nothing forced," he said.

A pause.

"Just… understanding."

Silence.

That word used to require effort.

Now it just happened.

Lu Han stepped forward slightly.

"You're no longer operating from protective tension," he said.

Shen Yichen nodded once.

"I noticed," he said quietly.

A pause.

"But I didn't notice when it stopped."

Silence.

Lin Yue stepped slightly closer.

Shen Yichen noticed—but there was no reaction spike anymore.

No internal correction.

Just awareness.

She was here.

And she stayed.

Lin Yue spoke softly.

"You don't try to control me anymore," she said.

Shen Yichen shook his head once.

"…No," he said quietly.

A pause.

"I don't think I ever really needed to."

Silence.

Lu Han exhaled slowly.

"You've fully internalized trust-based perception," he said.

Shen Yichen looked at him.

"I don't think I experience it as a concept anymore," he said quietly.

A pause.

"It's just… how I see things."

Silence.

Lin Yue tilted her head slightly.

"What do I feel like to you now?" she asked softly.

Shen Yichen looked at her for a long moment.

"…Constant," he said quietly.

A pause.

"And real."

Silence.

No fear-filter.

No distortion.

Just presence, steady and uninterrupted.

Lu Han stepped back slightly.

"You're no longer bound by trauma response patterns," he said.

Shen Yichen didn't respond immediately.

Then quietly:

"I think I stopped being bound a long time ago," he said.

A pause.

"I just needed time to understand what that meant."

Silence.

Lin Yue smiled faintly.

"And now?" she asked.

Shen Yichen looked at her.

"…Now I stay," he said quietly.

A pause.

"Not because I have to hold anything in place."

Silence.

"But because nothing in me is trying to pull away anymore."

And for the first time—

peace didn't feel like something he achieved.

It felt like something he was finally allowed to live in.
