Chapter 4 - Chapter Four

I wondered through school, looking for Jack. Once, I found him. I asked him for a meeting with his father. He agreed on one condition a kiss knowing I would disagree. I decided April was worth it. I reached over and kissed him on the cheek. He was stunned into silence. After several minutes of staring, he said, "Did you really just do that?"

"Yes, I really need to see your father, the Alpha." "Fine, I'll see what I can do." After school, I ran after April. Andy, running to catch up. "April, I need to speak to you again." We walked ahead of Andy and May. I some reason she didn't have a smile on her face. "Can you talk to your parents about talking to the Alpha about a treaty to still live here?" I asked. She thought about it and said she would try it. The walk home was awkward and in silence. Andy caught up to me after April went home. "So, you ask her out?" He laughed. I grabbed his hand, dragging him to his house. "I don't want to scare you, and I don't want to have any secrets between us. The family next door, April and May, are vampires." I admitted. "Whoa!" He said, while falling onto his bed. "My pack is wanting them gone or they'll kill them for acts they haven't committed yet or it's unknown if they have done yet." I stopped making sure he was listening. He motions me to continue. "Well, I warned April, because you know, I like her. I produced this plan for both sides to talk and come up with a treaty. Now, I am waiting for Jack and April to talk to their family to see if they would be up for it." I explained. "For real? That's deep. Wait, I'm crushing on a vampire?" "You have to keep their secrets too. They might get mad at me for telling you." I sighed. "Just like I keep yours, my lips are sealed shut." He said sitting up. My phone buzzed. "It's Jack." I picked it up. "We've been thinking about the treaty. We are okay with it, it was your idea and we will support it on two conditions. They agree also and you agree to marry me." He stated. I felt so empty. Then I thought of April and her smile. I knew it was worth it for her to not get hurt. "I will if they make a treaty and act peacefully and share the town. Will the Alpha agree? "I'm actually surprised you would go against yourself for some blood suckers, but yeah he agreed." I hung up the phone. "What did you just do?" Andy wide eyed, grabbing my shoulders. "I promised to marry Jack, so they can have a treaty meeting." "You going to go through with it?" "I have to or they'll end up killing her." I got up to leave. "What about April? She wouldn't want you to sacrifice yourself for her sake." I smiled and walked away. As I made my way back home from Andy's place, my dad told me to sit down and eat dinner with him. He was concerned about me. "You went behind my back to ask for a truce meeting. You could have asked me to do it." "She's my friend dad; I couldn't let her leave or get killed for staying." I was admitting to knowing one of the vampires. "Oh honey." Father pats my back. I finished dinner feeling better about myself and the situation. It wasn't ideal, but it worked. I called Jack. He answered on the second ring. "Hello?" "Jack it's me."

"The meeting is happening tonight. I was about to call you. You should be there being the future Alpha's bride to be." "Okay, I agreed." "I like this new you, being obedient." I heard a smirk in his voice. I hung up the phone without a bye. "Mika, are you coming? It was your idea." Father yelled. I hurried downstairs following him outside. We got into his car. We arrived at the treaty meeting place a bit before eight. There were already people there. Jack's father greeted everyone and they all sat in the chairs. I looked around the room, taking in everything. There were seven families, two couples, four couples, two groups of three or less. I looked over at the table where Jack and his siblings were sitting. He gestured for me to sit. I slowly sat down next to him. One of his siblings whispered something in his ear. I could tell it bothered him; he had clenched his fists under the table. His sister giggled. I leaned closer to him, whispering in his ear. "Are you okay?" His eyes flickered toward me. "Yeah." He whispered back. I saw Jack glaring at the table. "Let's start the meeting." Father started clearing his throat. "Today we have a request from our Alpha." Everyone stood up, "We understand that this is probably an unusual request from you. However, we offer you peace and sanctuary here in Brazen. As long as you don't kill humans or suck their blood in our town limits. Also, there is no physical fighting with us wolves. Do you have any conditions or questions? "We like access to a blood bank of donations once a month." Older male looking version of April and May. "Thank can be manageable. We have our own medic care office." Alpha Jack replied. I was happy then realized I must marry this guy next to me.
