Chapter 227
The words wrapped around me like a warm blanket. I glanced at my mother, and saw that her eyes were suspiciously bright. She blinked rapidly and focused on her notebook.
"So," Grandmother Halton said, clapping her hands together, "now that we have a date, let's talk details. Have you thought about the venue? The flowers? The decorations?"
My mother and I exchanged a look. We had discussed some ideas, but we hadn't made any firm decisions.
"We were thinking of having the ceremony at our house," I said, "and then having a reception at a nearby banquet hall."
"Do you have a specific venue in mind?"
"Not yet," I admitted. "We were planning on looking at a few places this week."
Mr. Halton steepled his fingers, considering. "Well, if you're open to suggestions, I have an idea. Why don't you have the reception here? At the mansion?"
My jaw dropped. "Here? But...this is your home. We couldn't possibly impose."
