[Some weeks later]
I smiled as I put some hot chocolate in front of my wife. She was sitting on the couch, looking at a book. Her belly had grown quite a bit in the past few weeks. Our child was due in a month or so.
Queen Amelia should be giving birth to her third child anytime now.
Eumhun rubbed her belly. "Thank you, Noel. I've been craving something sweet."
I kissed her forehead and sat next to her. "It's nothing. You're carrying our baby, after all. You deserve to be pampered."
She giggled. "You're too sweet. I'm not some fragile doll."
I shook my head. "No, but you're my wife and the mother of my child. I want to take care of you."
She leaned her head on my shoulder. "I know. And I appreciate it."
We stayed like that for a while, enjoying the quiet moment. It was rare these days. The world was preparing for the coming war. While the civilians were at peace, those who knew of the threat were tense.
