Morgan held Paige back from going to Scarlet. She wanted them to have their moment to themselves and didn't want to interrupt. Though she wished to hold Damien in her arms and tell him he's okay, and that he fought well. If his mother were alive, she would have done the same.
She wondered if it was a punishment. Sometimes, she wondered if his mother ever truly loved him before she passed, knowing that someone as evil as Sergei is his father. But later when she thought about it, she knew that wasn't the case at all. His mother must have truly loved him. After all, she had a choice to not bring him to this world, but her decision came with consequences, one which Damien also now has to pay for.
In the end, they both sacrificed themselves for someone they wanted to protect. His mother must have known to leave him with such decision. Whatever was contained in the vial was the crucial part of saving them.
