Cherreads

Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2

I'm marrying the love of my life in the dress of my dreams.

I carefully get into the dress and then check myself out in the mirror. I try to zip it up while reaching towards the back, but it seems to be rather far away.

I knock on the door three times while nearly falling over to signal for aid. The woman opens the door after a brief delay.

Do you need assistance? When she asks and sees me in the dress, her eyes light up.

She walks over to me and remarks, "Oh my, you look beautiful in this." She swiftly gathers the dress and zips it up for me.

"How about it?" She asks, and I strongly nod in agreement.

"A lot. I say, "I love it," grabbing a tissue to dab my eyes in case I start crying at this very moment.

"Good, then. Let's show your bridesmaid and hear her response, the woman suggests while holding out her hand. She unlocks the door when I take it and leads me to it.

When Bella sees me as we leave, her eyes widen and she screams in awe, startling the two of us.

She shouts excitedly, "OH MY GOODNESS, it's perfect," as she stands up to ogle my dress.

"Ms. Lawson, could you please dress her up. Veil, where are you? Looking at the woman I now recognize as Ms. Lawson, Bella asks.

"Certainly, Dear. The veil is in place. Ms. Lawson responds and moves over to a shelf to get the plastic-wrapped veil. She turns around, sets the veil down next to her, then grabs my hair and ties it up in a sloppy but secure bun.

As Ms. Lawson removes the plastic veil and puts it on me, I could see the joy on Bella's face.

I ask yourself, "How do I look?" I ask them both to look in the mirror as I get anxious.

Bella responds dreamily, "Like a goddess," and Ms. Dawson hums her agreement.

"You're here, sweetheart. I hesitantly turn around after she adds, "You could turn around. Without uttering a word, I take a moment to admire my fully made-up appearance. Before I could stop myself, a tear began to fall from my left eye.

I adore it! I smile and reply, "It's everything I've ever wanted.

Ms. Lawson says as she approaches the dressing room, "All right, let's take it off you so we can pack it up and take it home." She immediately removes my veil and zips the gown as I trail behind her as we enter the room.

You are there. I'll leave the rest up to you," she replies as she exits the room, shutting the door behind her. I smile in appreciation. I quickly put on my original clothing once more and leave the dressing room to take a seat next to Bella.

"How are you feeling?" She waits a moment and then asks.

"I don't know," I frankly reply.

It's so amazing and surreal, but there's still a part of me that doesn't like it, which kind of baffles me since I thought after I found it, that feeling would go away. When I respond, she hums and merely stares ahead.

There will be an error. I sarcastically glare at her as she continues, "Just watch it go wrong.

"Stop acting like you're casting a spell or something on my wedding day. I respond, "I'm confident everything will be okay, but she just shakes her head. When Ms. Lawson entered the room with the dress and veil all packed up, Bella was just about to speak.

There are several sets of jewelry that go with this garment, dear. For your benefit, I've put it in the bag. She smiles and passes me the bag, saying, "Feel free to look at it when you get home.

"I will, and I appreciate everything,"

"It's not at all a problem. I nodded at her as she escorted us to the front desk and said, "Once more, congratulations! I wish you and your husband all the best in the future."

For the gown? Receptionist queries.

I say "Yep" and give her the bag. She glances at it briefly and nods in agreement.

She pointed to the end of the desk and said, "You could pay there." I approach and reach for my card to make the purchase.

After a brief moment of thought, she responds, "All good," and places it in a larger bag.

She gives me the package and wishes us both a pleasant day.

Bella responds, "You too," and I nod in agreement.

"So, coffee?" As we leave the bridal chamber, Bella enquires.

"Please say yes. It makes me want to faint. As we get close to our car, I add to her, "Oh yeah, also remember to remind me to call Liam's family for the last-minute preparations." She makes a snide sneer.

"That woman is abhorrent; I sincerely don't know how you treat her. She jumps into the driver's seat and says, "Good luck with that phone call. Despite the fact that I know she's right, I don't respond. What more can I do but retaliate against my intended mother-in-law? There is no point because that will simply lead to pandemonium and Liam always sides with her.

Are you speechless? As I sit in the driver's seat, she makes fun of me.

Bella, stop talking; you are of no assistance. I respond with a rolling of the eyes, "I just want this to be over with already.

I'm just trying to get you to see things from my perspective, you know. Although I am pleased for you, you know that I have never liked Liam, so what can I say? She responds, defending herself by raising her hands in surrender.

I respond, "You never like any guy I go for," which makes her lightly laugh.

"Because they never met your standards of quality. You simply don't comprehend it, but I hope one day you will. When she says this, an unidentified voice and emotion appear in her, but they quickly go and her wicked smirk returns.

I alter the topic because I'm at a loss for words.

I've been going in circles, where are we heading anyhow? I say as I turn to face her.

Well, Starbucks is OK for now. Hold on, I'll look up the closest one," she responds as she picks up her phone. I pay close attention to the street name and identify the location.

"Hold on, that's unnecessary. I've been around. Bella glances up from her phone and says, "The nearest one is like two minutes down there. She shrugs when she hears what I've said before putting the phone down.

She glares at me when she notices the perplexed expression on my face and adds, "If you get me lost, I'm paying you the damages for the time I got my beauty sleep taken away."

I nervously say, "I promise we are not lost," before my face goes straight.

I giggle apprehensively, "Okay, maybe we're lost," and peer out the window.

She says, "Of course we are," before grabbing the phone and connecting it to the GPS. Bella cursed me and the car for a few minutes before we finally got it to operate.

My eyes brightened as the GPS said, "Turn right in 500 meters."

I yell as Bella strikes me across the skull, forcing me to groan in agony, "See, I was right, it's at the next light."

"You weren't, no. She remarked, pulling at her hair in annoyance, "You said we passed it and had to make a U-turn.

I agree, whatever. The same thing, I say as I make a right turn at the next traffic signal.

"Go 500 meters straight. Turn to the left

I wrinkled my brows as Bella screamed, "I recognize this area isn't it where Grace said she first met up with Liam."

"They connected. When did he and Grace first connect? I ponder. She turns to face me and gives me a wide-eyed stare.

"Grace stated that because she was the Maid of Honor and all, she needed to talk to Liam about some things. She said, "You gave her the reins," she remarked nervously.

"I gave her instructions, but never once did they include Liam. Perhaps there was a miscommunication, I said, but Bella kept shaking her head.

"No, it's not. Bri, please exercise caution. She said, "I'm warning you," but I ignored her.

"I think you don't have enough coffee in your system, Bella" I make a joke, but she doesn't laugh; instead, her expression is the most solemn I've ever seen it.

You've reached your destination.
