Cherreads

Chapter 3 - Blood and Magic

In the forest, the two agents were in a standoff with Elliot. Oras reached for the sword on his back, as he grabs the blade's handle, in that very instant Elliot appears before them. He covered the ground between them quickly, he grabs Oras's face and drives him into the ground using all his newfound strength, as Oras hits the ground, it cracks. Jericho was surprised for a moment as he turns to see Oras on the floor with Elliot crouching over him. Jericho smiles as he steps back and raises his hand.

"Oras, defend yourself! Plasma tonitruans!! (thundering plasma)" Jericho shouted. In that instant, Oras used magic to transform his body to a steel alloy. Elliot, not knowing what was going on focused on Oras, removing his hand but he did not realize the fact that Jericho released a spell. Jericho fired a blue plasma blast that destroyed the landscape about 200 meters in the direction of Oras and Elliot. When the dust settled Jericho smiled as he saw Oras about 50 meters from his starting point getting up, recovering from the blast.

"Oras! Did I kill the you.." unfortunately Jericho's celebration was cut short when Elliot appeared above him. Jericho's eyes widened as he barely reacted before Elliot threw a haymaker that hit Jericho with so much force his body ricocheted off the ground and he flew into a tree. Elliot landed and his nose began bleeding and his breath became heavier.

"Lilith, what's happening?" Elliot asked calmly.

"Seems your human body has not quite adapted to the influx of demonic energy." Lilith said.

In the distance Oras got up and drew his sword. He then gave off a huge magic presence. He seemed to be preparing a magic attack.

"Lift your hand and point it at that man Elliot." Lilith instructed. Elliot followed her instruction as his hand sprouted a mouth on his palm. A red energy began to gather at the mouth and in that instant a blast of red energy was released in the direction of Oras, the blast was great in diameter. Elliot's eyes widened as he saw the magical power that Lilith could conjure while still in his body. As soon as Elliot put down his hand, he felt something hit his back and it pushed him into the air. He turned to see Jericho, who performed a spell and had his right hand open.

"Detonate." Jericho said as he closed his hand as a huge explosion engulfed Elliot. The explosion sent shockwaves that affected the entire area in a five kilometre radius. Elliot fell from the explosion barely conscious. As he hit the ground a small crater formed.

"That was crazy. Such demonic energy, what was that kid." Jericho said as he turned his back from Elliot.

As Jericho walked away, an intense demonic energy of insane proportions engulfed the area, Jericho turned to see the boy standing there or at least something that resembled him. The body seemed unstable, a huge mouth had developed across his chest, arms became elongated serrated appendages and there were eyes where there shouldn't be eyes. The chest mouth opened and shot an energy blast at Jericho, who in response created a shield with the Pisces symbol on it. The shield barely held out against the blast and developed many cracks. The boy, creature, let out a deafening roar and Jericho, stood there scared until Oras grabbed his companion and threw him on his shoulder using his great speed to escape the monster. The moment the two were over a kilometre away the creature reverted back to normal Elliot and he fell unconscious.

Meanwhile, in the training court behind the cathedral, Sir Johnathan and Father Cranel stood watching the two boys who stood across from each other, both the boys were dressed in white gui's to ensure fairness and no use of magical accessories that enhance ability.

"The fight will end when one boy yields or is rendered unable to continue. Grievous bodily harm to your opponent will not result in punishment after the fight. May God be with you both. BEGIN!" Sir Jonathan shouted.

The two simply stared at each other, each sizing his opponent, Raymond charged first as Jeremiah stood his ground. Raymond jumped attempting to land a roundhouse kick to Jeremiah's hand but his opponent blocked with his right arm and as soon as Raymond landed, Jeremiah threw a jab at him, which Raymond dodged by leaning back. Their battle soon became a series of punches being thrown, parried and dodged. Their speed, strength and precision seemed to be on par. Sick of the stalemate Raymond jumped back and joined his hand together.

"I pray to the spirit, enter my body and give me power to vanquish enemies of thy kingdom. I evoke HOLY TIME!!" as soon as he finished speaking a golden aura enveloped Raymond.

"Holy time. Seems Raymond has knightly training." Cranel commented.

"Of course, he was a squire growing up." Johnathan exclaimed.

"Now let's see how you keep up commoner." Raymond said before charging at Jeremiah. Raymond attempted another roundhouse kick.

'Same attack huh, just stronger and faster. Well fuck this.' Jeremiah stepped back and threw a haymaker. As the punch travelled, Jeremiah's fist ignited in flames. Jeremiah's punch connected with Raymond's shin, the force of the collision, blew both boys a few steps back. The two boys got up and charged at each other, Jeremiah activated the fire fist on both hands. As the boys entered another exchange it was clear they were still equal in power but Raymond was faster and more precise as he was dodging and countering Jeremiah, for every one hit Jeremiah landed, Raymond landed three.

"Ha ha. Raymond keep the pressure up." Jonathan said clearly enjoying the situation. Father Cranel on the other end, smiled and simply looked at his student being overwhelmed.

Jeremiah managed to land a jab with his left, across Raymond's face but the boy then used the opportunity to grab Jeremiah's arm and pull it to drop Jeremiah, but Jeremiah kept his footing and pulled back. The two struggled for a moment in game of tug-of-war. Raymond then let go with his left hand and used it to push hard on Jeremiah's elbow, realizing the danger the boy pulled back with all his power but right before Raymond let go, a crack was heard. Raymond let go and Jeremiah jumped back a few paces. Jeremiah stood there and stared at Raymond, his arm broken at the elbow.

"That's the match!" Johnathan shouted as he took steps towards the field to congratulate his son.

"The boy did not yield." Father Cranel said behind him. As Johnathan turned to look at Cranel he saw that the gentle expression always on his face had disappeared and a cold one remained.

"Jeremiah. Can you fight?" Cranel asked with such calmness as if he had no regard for Jeremiah's current shape.

"Yes father." Jeremiah said as he stared maliciously at Raymond.

"Continue." Cranel ordered the boys. Before Johnathan could contest, Jeremiah for the first time in the fight charged Raymond.

Jeremiah as he reached Raymond threw a right hook that Raymond dodged with a step back but Jeremiah used the force to transition into a low kick trying to sweep Raymond using his left leg. Raymond jumped dodging it but he didn't anticipate Jeremiah used that kick as distraction , an opportunity for him to pick up dirt and throw it in Raymond's face.

Raymond grabbed his face as he was blinded, Jeremiah used the opportunity to throw a fire coated haymaker that connected dead centre with Raymond's face. Raymond staggered back a few steps but Jeremiah kept the pressure connecting haymaker after haymaker, after a few punches, Jeremiah jumped connected a roundhouse kick to Raymond's face dropping him.

'Good work.' Father Cranel thought as he smiled and watched the boy drop Raymond.

'Dirty little bastard.' Johnathan thought as he began boiling as the fight continued.

The stunned Raymond lay on the ground as Jeremiah simply went and sat on his chest and began throwing more fire coated punches at the defenseless boy. Hit after hit, Jeremiah went on and on. Soon his hand wasn't even coated by fire but instead was stained crimson by blood.

Johnathan approached the boys and pulled Jeremiah off Raymond, throwing the boy three feet. As Jeremiah landed on the ground, he couldn't help but chuckle.

"What was that Cranel!" Johnathan shouted clearly angry.

"The boy won the fight." Cranel answered calmly.

"That dirty little bastard has no honor!" Johnathan answered.

"Honor is for Lords and Knights. Keeps you cocksuckers, high and holy. But when the real demons and monsters come knocking, us priests are the ones who do God's work." Cranel said as his naturally crimson eyes stared at Johnathan.

Two giant stone doors swung open. At the entrance Oras takes a step inside, he throws an unconscious Jericho to the floor and looks around at the near empty entrance. The helpers rush to assist the two as Oras stands there dazed, his breathing shallow and his body bruised. He looks around.

"Where's Luke?" he asked as he staggers through the group of helpers.

"Star Commander Taurus is currently away at a Vatican summit, Captain Ursa." one of the helpers answered.

"Well tell him there's a possible multi-city threat and two constellation captains are out of commission. I suggest an immediate evacua..." Oras's body gives in as he falls unconscious before finishing his sentence.
