He dodged again and again, each time he was left with cuts that were soon all over his body.
"What the hell, I don't know what's happening. I'm clearly evading it's strikes but something is still hitting me. I can't even land a clean shot, It's too fast. The second i try to counter after I dodge will be my undoing, I'm just too slow." He thoughtfully calculated.
Blood trickled from his wounds and his breathing became heavier. Looking around he saw Gavin was still out cold, but he did see something else not far away from him.
The beast attacked once more swinging its claws wide. Instead of dodging from the sides he slid under the beast as it jumped.
Getting up he continued to move towards Gavin sliding once again grabbing a hold of a emerald colored sword.
Holding it tight he turned around to face the beast. Its mouth opened wide generating a red sparking ball.
Now that Damon was holding a weapon, the beast saw him as a real threat unlike before, up until now, it was just playing with its food.
He braced himself as the spiraling ball shot towards him. It was too fast for him to dodge and so he held up the sword out of reflex.
The energy crashed into the sword which lit up pushing a wave of green light out. The force of both powers threw him back, high in the air.
Blood spewed from his mouth on impact while multiple bone snapping cracks was heard as his body bounced on the stone ground making him scream in pain. His movements were off balanced and his eyes rolled around in his skull uncontrollably as he forced himself to look up.
His sight was blurry, but he could make out a figure coming for him as blood ran down from the top of his head partially hindering his vision. Damon couldn't feel his legs and so he put everything he had into his arms.
He groaned in pain as he pulled himself towards the sword dragging his battered legs. It was his only option to try and protect himself.
The impact of the blast and the fall left one of his legs broken and mashed up while the other was severely bruised and swollen within seconds. Damon didn't know how bad his legs really were. He only knew he couldn't feel them and they weren't responding.
He pulled himself with all his might, doing his best to stay focused.
The second he grabbed the sword, the beast had reached him. It opened its jaws biting down on the back of his head holding him up like rag doll in his mouth.
He could feel his head being punctured deeper and deeper as the sound of his skull being cracked echoed in his ears. Screaming at the top of his lungs he bared the pain as best as he could while holding the sword tight.
Twisting it around he plundged the sword back and forth wildly stabbing the beast. The sword lit up with each strike releasing a burst of power that traveled through the beast body causing enough pain for It to let go.
It roared in agony after slinging Damons body to the side. It turned its neck snapping at the sword that was lodged in its side until it was able to pull it out.
Damon was stretched out on the ground feeling his consciousness fade in and out as blood poured from his mangled body. Faint growling was heard as a shadow casted over him. The smell of rotten flesh and dead fish entered his nose as hot air that felt like steam from a furnace covered his face.
"Well, I did put up a fight. It wasn't much, but I managed to hurt you at least. Maybe I'll be stronger in the after life. Maybe I won't be labeled a cursed slave, Maybe things will be different, maybe, just maybe. He thought as his consciousness drifted.
Ding!
[Your cloud radius has reached 1000 meters, you have preawakened the cloud system with your tenacity.]
[You have received an invite from your ancestors. If you accept there's a chance you may live. If you do not accept you will surely die.]
Damon saw the visual text appear in his sight thinking it was a hallucination.
"Ha, this must be my brain last response to give me hope. It's fake I'm sure, but whatever. I accept." He weakly whispered.
Ding!
[Luck is on your side]
Drawing back its head the beast opened its mouth. It's jagged sharp black teeth dripping with blood as it snapped forward at Damons neck, however seconds before the beast teeth could sink into his neck, Gavin appeared next it.
"Haaaaaa. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, haaaaaaa,"
Screamed Gavin as he dug his sword over and over into the beast side. It roared and stumbled but Gavin continued to thrust away as hard as he could.
As he stabbed the beast he couldn't help but see Damons torn up body. Rage and sadness grew in his heart as he moved even faster. Stab after stab and slash after slash.
Water flooded out of his eyes as his arms became tired. The beast was unmoving and dead for over a minute but Gavin was trapped in too much anger to care, with one final strike he took off its head to make sure, remembering his mistake last time.
Exhausted, he crawled over to Damons body and the tears swelled up more.
"I'm sorry kid... I failed to protect you." He said crying with a slight stutter.
"I got this job to help people like you and I've already screwed up " he sobbed.
Gavin sat there and held Damon upper torso in his arms apologizing over and over, weeping when he realized Damon's rain hadn't stopped yet. In fact it was still coming down strong.
Checking his vitals he noticed somehow he was still alive. Activating his coms device he urgently asked for help again while informing his captain about his situation.
The rain began to slow up and the radius of his rain began to shrink in meters which Gavin took as a sign that Damon didn't have much time left.
"Once his rain stops it'll be the end. I can't let that happen. I'll get you some help, I promise."
He picked Damon up with great difficulty, but managed as he shifted more energy into his upper body and sprinted off with everything he had leaving a green streak behind him. The radious of the rain was shrinking fast, from 500 meters to 300 and counting, he was now racing against it.
With every step he took. He went passed his limits pushing more and more energy into his legs and arms distributing and rotating it throughout his body.
After a few minutes of running, fighting could be heard in the distance but Gavin didn't care. The path he was on was the quickest way to get help and that's what he was going to do.
Entering into the fray he saw over three beasts being taken down by other guards.
"The number of beasts must have increased. That would explain that high grade 4 beast, but why wasn't the report updated." Gavin thought for a second before calling out to them.
"Heyyy I need help over here. Someone is hurt."
A few guards looked his way but only one of them rushed over.
"That rain is following you. That's the ability of Damon the street rat. Is he gravely injured." A big muscular man spoke, it was Azel....the same guard at the gate that nearly killed Damon three years ago.
"Yes, what the hell does it look like, you can see can't you ?."
Azel, walked closer to him looking at Damons broken body and let out a short sigh.
"Well kid. You lasted longer than anyone around here expected you to."
"The hell is you talking about. He's not dead yet. We can save him."
"You must be new around here. I don't recognize you and you have no sigils on your uniform. Only rookies have regular uniforms."
"Yes I am, but what the hell does that matter. Please help me save this boy. Captain Isaac sent a group to help me, but they got into some trouble and couldn't make it."
Azel looked at Gavin for a moment in confusion.
"Look rookie. If the captain sent help for something like that I would know. I'm 3rd in command and no reports came to my attention about helping a kid, especially a cursed boy like him."
Gavin looked at him in disbelief. He was confused and was begining to get angry.
[Outer Body]
"What is this, Is this the after life, Have I really died ?" Damon questioned himself as he floated throughout a black void space.
There was nothing in sight, but he could feel his body being pulled by a strong invisible force. Many thoughts crossed his mind, but he mainly asked himself the same questions over and over.
"Is this real, Have I died ?."
[ You have chosen a Summit with your ancestors.]
[New skill activated - recovery mist]
[Your body will begin to heal, but a warning has been issued. Fail to meet the requirements of your ancestors and you'll perish soon after.]
"This again. Oh now I'm sure I'm in the after life. Even in my death the universe is playing tricks."
The atmosphere suddenly changed. A large ball of burning white light was seen in the distance as clouds emerged from large to small and in numerous shapes floating in the strange space that reminded him of the sky. He could feel the radiance of the bright light and the pulling force that guided him closer.
Some clouds were dark grey and white, some were pitch black, some were white and brimming with light, Some clouds were shaped like people and others like a cauliflower along with random shapes. They moved slowly continuously changing how they looked.
Some released rain while others possed strikes of electricity that shot and scattered creating webs of blue lightning.
The crashing of thunder echoed throughout certain areas as the place he was in, was vast.
"What is going on. This, this can't be real." He thought blinking nervously in confusion.
Three huge clouds formed in front of the bright light forming into a tsunami of clouds that rolled in like a wave from the sea. The clouds began twisting into a vortex and the pulling pressure increased sucking him in like a vacuum.
Damon shouted in fear as the force pulling him increased which jolted his body violently as he spiraled down inside the massive storm.
In seconds, he was covered in darkness for a brief moment, but suddenly appeared in a brightly lit, massive room with all white marble stone floors, walls and ceilings. Looking around, there was an alter in the center of the floor.
It was silver and gold, and sitting on top of it was something that resembled a book. It took him a minute to move, but after gathering his mind and checking over his body. He walked towards the alter cautiously, but before he could take several steps, four orbs of illimunating balls of light appeared.
One was green, yellow, violet and orange. Immense energy came from them making Damon fall to his knees unable to move, it all happened at lightning speed.
"What's happening. What is all of this."
One by one the orbs began to change shape. A bright flash of colors burst from them blinding him.The second his eyesight returned his mouth dropped and his eyes stretched out in disbelief making the hair all over his body stand up as chills rolled down his spine.
