"Yea, their picking us off like we're puppies being sold. I guess this litter, the girl's were more sought after." Sin responded with a slight smirk making them chuckle.
"Hmph, all of this is still crazy, but yea, I guess we are the last pick of the litter " Damon said making them gaze around thoughtfully.
More days passed within the blink of a eye leaving only Damon,Sin and Manboy. The other young man was taken in by a couple.
"Welp down to us three, who wants to make a bet who the last one will be?" Sin asked scratching his two toned color arm.
Damon glanced at Manboy then back at Sin.
"No clue, with the type of luck I've had. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was me." Damon spoke.
"It'll be me, some people just cant get over how much older I look. Its been that way since I could remember. " Manboy spoke plainly making them look his way. They were sitting outside as usual.
"Well, I wasn't going to say it but...." Sin said with his lips balled up in a smile.
"Oh shut the hell up, I cant help im maturing faster than most kids. Im just manly like that." He said tilting his head upwards showing a single hair on his chin.
"The hell, you sure you dont have some underlying illness that makes you age faster, at this point its beyond weird." Sin said nearly poking at it with wide eyes like it was a creature of some kind.
Damon's lips curled up, followed by a burst of laughter watching the scene in front of him.
"Why are you poking at it like that. " Damon said laughing.
"Illness! What about your arm, it looks like you have a skin eating disease or something." Manboy shouted with slanted piercing eyes after slapping away Sin's arm.
Damon brows raised and one of his eyes popped forward in anticipation seeing the exchange. He had wondered what was up with Sin's arm as well, but didn't ask out of respect and fear of offending him. Now that someone asked and he was in the middle of it, he was interested in his response.
Sin smiled as clear confidence formed in his eyes and posture.
"Oh this, this is no disease. Its part of my ability. "
Damon and Manboy's facial expressions drew looks from eachother before they simultaneously shouted.
"Your ability. "
Sin's smile grew wider and his posture relaxed as he positioned his arm around the brim of the chair.
"That's right, when I awaken im sure this mark that looks like hypopigmentation which is lighter patches of my normal brown skin will be connected to my ability. "
Their faces relaxed, at first they thought Sin was saying he was an early awakened and had somehow hid his ability from testing or recently awakened.
"That makes no sense, how can you know that if you dont have an ability yet. You're just spewing nonsense that sounds good. Could it be you're in denial about it being a skin issue. " Manboy said. He believed Sin was just talking, saying whatever sounded good, but the confidence on Sin's face didn't change in the slightest.
"I m not just throwing out empty words. Although i have no proof im right, its just something I can feel, I was told to always follow my gut and that's what its telling me." Sin responded making Damon look with wide eyes.
The next moment a memory of him saying something similar to Raya and Jasper about following his intuition came to him.
"No, I cant push it to the back of my mind like it doesn't matter, there is a reason im the only one obtaining lost memories. There's a reason im the only one that feels like none of this is ok." Damon whispered to himself in a daze.
He sat there contemplating for a while zoning in and out of Sin and Manboy's conversation until the topic turned into something that grabbed his attention from his deep thoughts on how to speed up his memory recovery.
"Jasper and a few others have already started at the academy. I overheard Dr. Res and his wife talking about it earlier." Manboy said.
"Apparently, if neither of us find a home soon then we will as well. " he added.
Hearing those words lit a fire in Damon. It didn't cross his mind that they would have the opportunity to go to school.
"Perfect. That means I can continue to pick Raya and Jasper's brain. Maybe it'll spark something within their memories or help mines return faster." He thought.
"Did you hear a time or date for us attending the academy. It'll be nice to get out of this house for a change, i like that it's on the outskirts of the city, but its pretty boring out here and Mrs. Res only allowed the girls to leave for shopping, not us. Other than that, ive only seen a small portion of Capetown when Captain Issac brought me here." Damon said realizing he had no clue what the new city he was in was truly like.
"No, but it won't hurt to ask." Manboy responded with a shrug.
Just like Manboy mentioned, days later the three boys were taken to Cape Academy. A large multi sectional building that was split up. It had many windows throughout with white and blue cape design on the front of the first building doors. More so like an out door mall with leading walk ways to other buildings. Each building displayed the type of learning done there like beast training, ability training, basic understanding of beasts, world knowledge and advanced learning.
With smiles that grew wider and wider watching hundreds of kids there age and older push through multiple doors to get in the school. The boys were feeling good about the beginning of their day.
Some students looked their way, but most paid them no attention as they were being lead to the registration office by Dr. Res.
Damon scanned the area looking for Jasper and Raya, but their was too many crowds so the chances of him spotting them was slim to none as they moved throughout the front of the academy.
After entering the registration office, the process of getting them set up for attending was quick and simple. Beforehand, Dr. Res had already provided information. Since Damon was the only one to remember his last name, only his full real name was used while Sin and Manboy adopted Dr. Res last name temporarily as they could still be adopted by someone else.
Seddrick Res was Sin's name now, with Seddrick being his real first name. Alec Res was Manboy's. They took pictures for their id card and was given a schedule. Unfortunately the boy's were to start school the following week as the registration day was on the final day before a two day break like every week.
After leaving the office they were accompanied by a school guard who took the three boys on a tour beforehand so they would have some sense of direction once returning. Dr. Res relaxed in a break room sipping on his second cup of coffee while they were being showed around.
"This is our gym and registered battle arena. I thought i would show it first. Us men have to stay prepared and ready to put in the work of knocking off some heads right ?" The red skin guard spoke with a smile. It was obvious he wasn't apart of the human race with his red skin and deep yellow eyes.
Planet Syair was home to many races of people. Most could pass off as being of the human race by looks, but they're were many who's race features stood out. No matter what race you belonged to, planet syair was a home for many, although not all races got along and some stayed to themselves hidden on foreign lands.
Looking at the huge gym, rows of hard wood seats circled the place high and low like a stadium. The ceiling was 50 meters high with a glass roof allowing the sun to illuminate the entire area.
While taking a quick walk around the stadium, the sounds of kids talking and laughing off in the distance returned to their ears. Over fourteen of them exited two double doors from the back of the gym. They no longer wore regular clothing, but some had full sets of armor while others wore armored clothing.
Appearing beside the guard was another red skinned man who startled the three boys.
"New faces usually means new students. " the man said facing them.
"Tonk, these young men will be starting the academy next week, im just giving them a quick tour of the academy grounds."
Damon looked at the man noticing he was indeed the same race as the guard. He didn't know what their race was, but his stature was much more defined. His eyes were a lighter yellow and his physique was very slim, but muscular as the definition in his broad shoulders and arms broadcasted the man clearly knew how to take care of his body. His white long hair hung to his lower back and he wore a black armored leather vest and armored pants that seemed a bit baggy near his shin.
Damon could tell the pants were armored apparel because they didn't move much as the man began taking a few steps ahead calling out to his students to stretch before meeting him in the middle of the floor.
Tonk, as he was called by the guard, turned his attention to them once again.
"So, I assume these are more mystery children the orphanage all of a sudden got out of nowhere. "
"Yes, apparently they've been through a lot so when they start, take it easy on them would you"
Tonk brows darkened and his eyes narrowed.
"Easy, hmph, these boys look like they could handle my lessons... and if they can't, taking it easy is the wrong thing to do. You know that is not the way of the Scarlett race."
The boys stood there multitasking, listening to their conversation while also paying attention to the kids who were stretching and preparing for whatever their lessons was.
"Scarlett race, I think I've heard of them before. The name comes from they're skin color." Damon thought looking at their skin which was two different shades of red. Tonk was a slightly darker shade like a chilli pepper while the guard was a lighter shade similar to chestnut red.
