Chapter 10 - Before Ice land Paradise

Rai closed the door behind her and sat down. It had been raining for over an hour and the ground beneath her was soaking wet. Nonetheless, Rai sat down and placed her head in her palms. Then she began to sob. Earlier that day, Rai's mother was buried due to a crash crash that had been caused by her father. Rai's mother and father had been divorced for over a year, when her father became conviced that before the end of their married, Rai's mother had cheated on him, in retaliation to his own unfaithfulness. He couldn't stand the idea of his wife being with another man, so he decided she had no right to be alive if she wasn't on standby for him. One morning as Rai's mother stepped outside her house, a car came speeding down the road, and hit Rai's mother, dragging her body into a wall, instantly killing her. Today, Rai had to watch her father's fake sobbing as she watched her mother's body be burried underneath damp cold soil. As she sat under the heavy rain, Rai felt the hairs on her arm stand up. Then she felt her hair begin to lift on its own. As Rai went to touch her hair, she felt her hair tense up, the "CRACK!", a defening sound rang out around her and herr whole body was engulfed in a beam of light that shot down from the sky. Then hair eyes shut and her body went numb.

Rai rubbed her eyes and slightly shifted her body. The ground beneath her was soft, almost like a pillow. Rai sat up and looked around. She noticed a large chair at the end of what seemed to be a room covered in clouds. She clutched her side and shudder in pain. Then she placed one hand on the ground beside her, and forced herself onto her feet. The room seemed odd. There was a slight but strong gust of wind in the atmosphere and it seemed like all arround her, there were muffled sounds of thunder. The soft pillow-like substance that surrounded the room was a deep gray color, almost mirroring the look of clouds. As she reaced out to touch the substace, it disappeared in her palm. That's when Rai realized that she wasn't in a room, she had somehow found her into what seemed to be a pocket in the sky. As the realization dawn upon her, she stumbled backwards, and tripped but someone caught her before she could hit the ground. Rai quickly spun her head around, then leaped onto her feet. Before her, stood a woman draped in a large feather coat and with a large owl-like hat garnishing her head. the woman let out a loud hoot then backed away from Rai. She then made a few gestures with her hand, and a large wall of cameras appeared before the two people. The woman then walked towards Rai and exteded her arm, which looked more like a bird's wing.

"Stand up, we must make haste." The woman said in a soft, almost silent tone. Rai reached for the woman's hand and pulled herself to her feet. The woman then walked towards the wall of cameras gesturing for Rai to follow behind her. The woman then pointed towards a screen that showed rain pouring in a forest. There were a group of different species of birds in a group seemingly speaking to each other. The woman grabbed Rai's hand and led her towards a corner in the room.

Then a loud rumble rang out around the room and the two people were consumed by a large flash of light. Once the flash disappeared, Rai found herself standing in on a large wooden surface. As she looked around, Rai realized that she was standing in a tree, surrounded by various kinds of birds. The woman who had brought Rai here had now fully transformed into a burly, brown owl. The woman called for Rai and gestured for her to stand besides her. As she stepped next to her, a blue bird, standing at the highest point of the tree's crown spoke up. "Seven years ago, we were asigned by those above us to watch and monitor human action. As I watched I have come to the conclusion that human beings have no place on this planet. It is time for us to rid the world of them. " The birds cried out in agreement and dispersed until only The owl woman and Rai remain in the tree.

The woman then pulled a black feathered suit from behind a leaf and adorned Rai with it. "Six years ago, my family was slaughtered by the human government over claims of treason, " the woman said as she dressed and fitted Rai's costume "in the same way, your father took your mother's life. Humans have no compassion and do not deserve ours. You have been chosen not because you are special but because you were there. You have been given a gift not only to shift the form of your body but to use your voice to call lighting onto the earth. Let us make haste. Before they learn of our plans."

As the two flew through the air, they called out around them sumoning lightning onto the earth. As it struck those below, it carried them into the sky, scattering their atoms and married their remains to the clouds. As it rained, the scattered remains fell onto the earth, leaving puddles colored in hues of reds, yellows, oranges, greens, blues, and purples. The two, the flew foward, aloowing their voices to ring out and scatter lighting over the surface of the earth, until all around them was quite, As Rai looked below, she noticed a hill begin to stretch out its arms and shake the human's buildings off it back, making it bare. She then lokked straight ahead and noticed the sun shed its orange color to dawn colors of pink, cyan and purple. The golden sand below her that once covered the ocean shores turn a light pink color. Rai then felt herself grow weak, and the feathers that shielded her began to wither and fall off. She then felt her body begin to freeze and saw that the woman who once flew besides her was gone. Then, a light burst out from inside her heart and her body disappered into thin air spreacing ice crystals that sank deep into the earth's surface.
