Chapter 140 - The Girl Who Held The Barrier's Core

Within Barrier, the Grand Elder watched Luna with closed eyes. The green mark on her forehead had grown from a bud into a small sapling. He whispered that World Tree was truly beginning to grow.

Looking up at the sky, where abyssal green still lingered but attacks had paused, he wondered what had happened outside. For a being that Luna could call her kind, something significant must have drawn its attention away.

The girl opened her eyes and tilted her head. She softly asked the Grand Elder if, including her, there were actually three World Tree.

The World Tree Seed actually has several growth stages, three in total. The sprout is the first and most basic stage, and this stage is incomplete. If it dies midway, then the seed itself is lost.

The second stage is when it grows a new shoot and branches. If it fails at this stage, a seed will still remain and be reborn, which was the condition Vivian mentioned before. Even if something unfortunate happens, the most important World Tree Seed can still be preserved.

The growth of her own will, and some subtle influence, pushed Luna, who had lived in a fairy tale cradle before, into the second stage. In order to understand what was happening and how to save everyone and Vivian, she tried hard to listen to the sounds outside. Besides the previous hungry and greedy roars, there was now another roar, far larger and more vicious, filled with violence, despair, and the concept of death.

Yet strangely, the other terrifying sound carried no hostility toward her at all, as if it had not noticed her. What she could clearly sense was that two enormous beings were fighting outside. At that moment, Luna formed an idea.

"You want to help the other side?"

When Grand Elder heard this, he was completely stunned. Leaving aside the fact that one of them was a terrifying existence that had nearly wiped out the entire Elven Race with a single hand, there was another issue.

According to ancient legends, there were only two World Tree in existence, one in the outside world and one within Elven Homeland. So where did this third one come from, and how could it be beating that horrifying monster outside? Grand Elder could not help but wonder if all World Tree were naturally this good at fighting.

He fell into brief thought, recalling how the legends said that transplanting a World Tree into Elven Homeland was meant for the Elven Race to protect the sacred tree for generations. Now he began to suspect that their ancestors might have written it wrong, and that the relationship between protector and protected had been reversed.

"And besides, Luna, you said you want to help the other side, but how exactly can we help with what we have? Have you thought it through?"

Grand Elder did not oppose her idea. At this point, she could truly be considered a World Tree rather than just a seed.

Matters between World Tree were obviously something the tree itself understood better than an Elves like him. And in any case, there was no other choice left. Luna hesitated and spoke softly.

"I think I need a huge amount of Magic. Over there should be just about enough."

Following the direction of her little finger, Grand Elder looked and saw Barrier Core. That was the place where an enormous amount of Magic was gathered, the core section of the Barrier transfer.

"Damn it, magnetic field rotation. Reverse gravity realm. Charged Blade!"

Towering tornadoes, roaring Blizzard, and raging lightning and fire tore continuously at the dark green forests, swamps, and corrupted mountains. Biollante, whose Clone mass had been forcibly blasted away in large chunks, was not beaten to death so easily.

Instead, by shrinking its power and struggling desperately, it focused on regenerating only the the Lord body parts, becoming even more resistant to blows. Belial never expected that one day, as a Godzilla, he would be disgusted by a regenerating monster. In the past, it was always Godzilla itself that used regeneration to torment enemies.

"This thing really can take a beating."

As he spoke, he clenched his claws into a blade shape. Amid exploding white light from Rend and surging thunder, he shot forward and once again forcibly severed the massive dragon beast head that lunged to bite him.

The surrounding terrain had long been carved into countless ravines, with nearby mountains flattened and then smashed back into mountains again. To counter the opponent's extreme regeneration, Belial modified his old space demolition punches to focus more on magnetic fields that disrupted and suppressed microscopic structures.

The planar cutting directly reduced mass and coverage, while greatly increasing lethality, making it ideal against this type of monster. Each swing of Charged Blade did not just cleave bone and flesh, but also left magnetic force at the cut, constantly interfering with regeneration. Even so, it was still troublesome.

Again and again it was cut apart, and again and again it regenerated. Biollante even evolved during the continuous battle, its outer layer becoming harder and its strength growing stronger.

At the same time, the glowing orb in its abdomen was hidden again, along with the ominous Rift. Bodies proliferated in all directions, making it hard to tell orientation, while countless tentacles stretched out from every side. More than one head formed, each with sharp fangs and corrosive venom, firing beams and lunging to bite.

None of it worked. They were still easily chopped apart or destroyed by internal radiation. Belial gradually realized that what was above ground was only part of the true body, and the real main body was underground.

"So the real body is the roots spreading underground. No wonder it keeps growing back no matter how much I cut."

With his perception, Belial understood that the upper portion fighting him was disposable. Once suppressed, it could simply be abandoned and regrown, because every root underground could be considered part of the true body. Those roots extended for countless kilometers below the surface.

Blowing it all up directly would be difficult and extremely troublesome. He snorted lightly.

"Then I will use the planet a bit. Ecological erosion. I never thought I would use a passive effect to fight a monster."

As his will manifested, the elemental disasters raging within the Energy Field gradually faded away. The power did not disappear, but transformed into something far more terrifying.

"Roar?"

"Move the space farther away, now!"

Elfido suddenly shouted at the nearby dragonman. Even without the warning, the dragonman had already shifted the small space elsewhere. The monster below had no brain and could not run, but they were different, and they could clearly sense changes in Laws within the surrounding space.

If they did not leave, they might be turned into part of it or beaten to death, or even traced back along the Clone to slap the main body itself. Biollante still did not understand what was happening, but suddenly felt its body becoming sluggish.

That should not have been possible, since within its own domain every part should respond like an arm. Then it let out a terrified roar as parts of its body became completely unresponsive, and white specks appeared across its dark green form.

This was not something external, but its own cells and matter crystallizing under the influence of a higher-level ecological erosion. From the inside out, every inch of Biollante was being crystallized equally. If Biollante itself was an ecosystem, then this was an invasive species.

Inspired by Lilith, once crystallization occurred, those parts naturally became inactive. Everything within the coverage of Energy Field was affected. The area was smaller than the opponent's domain, but if an entire blockbuster was shattered into Shard, the rest could not survive under Belial's hands either.

"Roaaar!"

Even the underground roots were being eroded. Belial did not stop, slamming in with two explosive punches. Most of the heads were blown into Shard, turning directly into stone-like fragments this time.

Ecological erosion and Belial's direct assault might each be endured alone, but together they finally overwhelmed it. To regenerate, Biollante was forced to sever its control over the surrounding ecology. The regeneration of its upper body grew faster, yet its overall state was clearly weakening.

"You should be about ready to die. Take my high-speed bullet punch!"

A small, tender hand gently pressed against the center of a golden spell array core. Grand Elder watched with his own eyes as that enormous amount of Magic was actually controlled by a little girl.

Even if her body could not sustain it for long, it was already astonishing. That was the combined total of several Ascendant Hall, dozens of Gold, hundreds of Silver, and all the remaining Magic within the Barrier.

"Mm, ha."

Luna was not comfortable either. Her body could act as a relay to perfectly transfer the Magic, but that did not mean it was painless. She needed to act quickly.

First, she had to sever this monster's invasive connection with the Barrier and cut off its roots. Second, she needed to briefly cut the link between Biollante and the abyssal Rift. She could sense that Biollante relied on power from the Rift to regenerate continuously.

If it dragged on any longer, the outcome of the battle would still be uncertain. She murmured softly.

"The third of my kind. Luna will help you."
