We talked about how they had almost refused to leave the park, and then we laughed about the little moments, the way Jasmine kept insisting she was right, and how Hanith tried to compete with everything.
"They're mischievous," he said.
"They are," I agreed. "But they're yours."
He chuckled softly. "Our problem."
I smiled at that, and for a moment, it felt easy again.
After a while, I leaned back slightly against him, and he wrapped an arm loosely around me, pulling me just a little closer.
We kept talking, sometimes laughing, sometimes just sitting quietly, letting the moment settle around us.
At some point, the conversation slowed.
The laughter faded.
The room grew quieter.
And without even realizing when it happened, we both drifted off, still close, still wrapped in that quiet, unfinished feeling… but this time, it didn't feel uncertain anymore.
