"Oh no," I muttered under my breath. "I forgot the seasonings."
I sighed, rubbing my forehead lightly. I needed them, and I couldn't postpone it.
I turned to the twins, who were busy arguing over where to place the snacks.
"Listen to me," I said, my tone a little more serious now.
They both looked up immediately.
"I need to step out quickly to get something I forgot. It won't take long. While I'm gone, I want you both to stay inside and continue arranging these things, okay?"
They nodded.
"And listen carefully," I added, walking closer to them. "Do not go outside. Do not open the door for anyone. I don't care who it is. Just stay inside until I come back."
"Yes, Mommy," Jasmine said.
"We won't open the door," Hanith added.
I looked at them for a moment, making sure they understood, then nodded slowly.
"Good. I'll be back very soon."
