We finally reached the day I'd been anticipating for what felt like weeks, and it carried a tension that wasn't stressful, exactly, but heavy in a way that made my chest tighten slightly every time I thought about it. Helena had coordinated everything perfectly, and from the moment we left the house with the twins in tow, the atmosphere was electric, like we were stepping into a world that existed entirely for this moment.
Katherine sat beside me in the car, quiet but visibly excited, her fingers nervously tracing the edge of her sleeve. The twins were bouncing in the back, alternating between asking questions about the dress, the designer, and random things that had nothing to do with any of it, and I could already tell they were going to be both adorable and impossible the entire day.
