Kahn let out a long, helpless breath.
He hadn't expected the Earth King to summon him, but he still entered the palace.
And as soon as he stepped inside, he immediately spotted them—the Azula sisters, standing calmly beside the throne.
Even though they were disguised with new clothing and heavy makeup, his eyes were sharp enough to recognize them instantly.
Seeing the Earth King being held hostage by Azula, surrounded by the Dai Li—who were clearly no longer obeying the throne—Kahn truly wanted to ask the Earth King what the hell he'd been doing these past few days.
Not only had he allowed the three Azulas to infiltrate the palace, but he had even let them seize control of the Dai Li.
What in the actual hell are you doing?!
But in the end, all Kahn could do was give the Earth King a helpless smile.
"I told you not to keep the Dai Li. Now do you believe me?"
"After this… I will definitely disband the Dai Li…"
The Earth King whispered miserably. But at this point, it was obvious that whatever happened to the Dai Li no longer depended on him.
After acknowledging the Earth King, Kahn turned to Azula.
"So? You planning to take us down one by one until you control all of Yonggu City?"
"Do you think you're very clever?"
Azula arched an eyebrow, tightened her grip on the Earth King's neck, and smirked.
"If so, you should know what you need to do next, right?"
What should he do?
Surrender. Obviously.
"Honestly, I really want to say I don't care about the Earth King's life, but…"
Kahn shrugged as the Earth King's face went pale, and in the end, he chose not to resist.
The Dai Li immediately used Earthbending to lock his hands behind him, immobilizing him so completely he couldn't launch a single attack.
Azula's smile brightened. She tossed the Earth King to Ty Lee and approached Kahn. Leaning in, she mocked him:
"You're very strong. But now you have all that power and can't use it. That must be frustrating, right? I truly feel sorry for you."
Her mood was excellent. She slowly circled him, voice dripping with satisfaction.
"But don't be too sad. I usually don't care about people I defeat. But you're… different. Consider it an honor. You actually managed to pique the interest of the great Princess Azula."
Her posture, her arrogance, her sharp tongue—everything resembled the Azula from his own world.
Hearing her familiar brand of mockery, Kahn felt a strange sense of nostalgia and unconsciously smiled.
"What are you laughing at?"
Azula's face darkened instantly.
He should be afraid, angry, desperate—anything but smiling. Why was he smiling? What was he thinking?
She hated that expression.
She hated his calmness.
She hated that there wasn't even a flicker of fear in his eyes.
It made her uncomfortable—physically and mentally.
But even under her terrifying glare, Kahn remained composed.
"I'm happy because of the great Princess Azula's… favor toward me."
"Heh. You think you're funny? Acting like nothing scares you?"
She frowned, then her irritation faded. One eyebrow lifted.
"It doesn't matter. I hope you enjoy your good mood. You won't have it much longer."
"What do you mean?"
Azula answered sweetly, with the patience of someone savoring another's doom:
"The Dai Li have a brainwashing technique. The ones who undergo it become obedient like dogs—docile and loyal to whoever commands them."
Kahn's expression finally shifted, and Azula's grin sharpened into something cruel.
She leaned in, lips almost touching his ear, and whispered.
"I want you to be my dog."
Kahn's entire body stiffened, goosebumps erupting instantly.
Azula was immensely satisfied with his reaction. With a wave of her hand, she ordered:
"Take him away."
"Wait!"
Kahn snapped back to clarity. This Azula wasn't the one he knew.
Before she left, he quickly asked.
"One last thing. I get that you tricked the Earth King by pretending to be allies to infiltrate the palace. But how did you seize control of the Dai Li so quickly?"
"You're quite perceptive, aren't you?"
Azula was in a good mood and didn't mind indulging him. She answered:
"I just formed a temporary partnership with someone."
"I see."
Of course—Chang Feng, Lord of Agni Kai.
Captured or not, the Dai Li clearly still obeyed him. Azula and Chang Feng must have struck some agreement, letting her command the Dai Li for now.
Kahn couldn't help feeling a little sorry for Chang Feng.
He had no idea what kind of monster he was partnering with. If nothing unexpected happened, he was going to lose everything.
Not Kahn's problem.
"Well, thanks for clearing that up. Then this farce should end here."
"You—!"
Azula's instincts screamed danger.
"HOOOAH!!!"
Before she could react, Kahn opened his mouth and unleashed a thunderous roar.
A deafening blast of sound exploded directly inside the minds of the Azula sisters and every Dai Li agent in the room.
Their vision blurred, their heads rang as if struck by a hammer, and several collapsed to their knees.
It was a modified form of Spiritbending—Sound Transmission. While Spiritbending had no attacks, Kahn, coming from another world, always found creative uses for it.
Immediately, he shouted:
"Toph!"
The rocks binding him shattered.
In the same moment, dozens of stone pillars erupted from the floor, pinning all enemies against the ceiling with deadly precision—one wrong angle and they'd be crushed flat.
"Phew—so stuffy!"
Toph popped out of the ground, stretching. She'd left herself a small air pocket, but it still wasn't comfortable.
Looking at her handiwork, she whistled proudly.
"You're welcome, Toph!"
Kahn had suspected a trap before coming, so of course he brought insurance. Toph, lying in ambush, was his hidden card.
Their coordination this time was flawless.
The Earth King was dumbstruck. When he finally recovered, he cleared his throat, put on a fake look of authority, and shouted:
"Guards! Arrest these rebels!"
No one responded—because Azula had taken out the guards earlier.
"Kahn…!"
Azula shook off the shock, her fury blazing. She glared at him with a murderous intensity.
"Let's go. Let someone else handle locking them up."
"Wait up!"
Kahn ignored her and walked out with Toph.
Seeing this, the Earth King abandoned his fake composure and hurried after them, leaving behind Azula's enraged, trembling scream.
"Kahn…!!!"
Sigh.
