Chapter 428 - DSMW [428]

"You can surrender and lose half. When the time comes, you just let go of Aisha's body, then tell us the direction of Obelisk the Tormentor, and that'll be enough."

"Hey, isn't that losing everything? Where's the half in that?"

"If it's just half, then I can overlook the matter of you using Aisha's body without permission."

"No matter how you look at it, I'm taking a huge loss here."

Even though they were both Carlos, as an ancestor, Yuna was nowhere near as easy for Miles to talk circles around as Aisha was.

"To think you'd turn down such a tempting offer. You're not simple, are you?"

"What's so tempting about it!"

Little Kaima's eyes grew even more helpless: "Tempting? Miles, what exactly have you been making Aisha live through on a daily basis?"

Very normal days: carrying Aisha on his back while spending his time hanging around another Aisha.

Yuna added, "Besides, Miles, I think you're misunderstanding something. I didn't 'use' my descendant's body without permission. It was only after getting Aisha's consent that I used it."

"..."

So after all that, Dark Aisha just handed her body over on her own?

Thinking about it carefully, it might actually be possible.

With how easily tricked Aisha was, she was probably the type who would fall for those scams from ten years ago—like, "I, Blah Blah Blah, have been resurrected, send money." That kind of primitive bait.

"Stop wasting time talking to her, Miles!"

Her patience gradually wearing thin, Kaima—who could only spectate and couldn't personally join the duel—suppressed her itching desire to draw cards and urged him on.

"The opponent's deck is just a pile of small fry. You've already got the White Dragon! Finish her off quickly and then go find Obelisk!"

'Of everyone here, you are the least qualified to urge someone to quickly crush the opponent!'

'Who was it again who used a Blue-Eyes deck and got beaten senseless by a bunch of low-level weaklings during the Academy Festival?'

Miles chose not to expose her, nor did he intend to argue with Kaima in her current child form.

Anyhow, whether this duel could be ended quickly… was that for him to decide?

Right now, it was Yuna's first turn. Even if he wanted to speed things up, he had to wait for her to move first.

And clearly, this ancestor of the Carlos family—Yuna Carlos—had already been bewildered by the small-fry deck played by her own descendant.

"Fine, I'll set one card and end my turn."

After nearly a full minute of painful hesitation, Yuna Carlos didn't even Summon a monster. She simply set a backrow card to end her first turn.

"My turn—draw!"

With his second turn beginning, Miles drew from his Duel Disk.

He really did need to speed this up. Inside the obelisk tower's internal space, neither he nor Kaima knew how things were going outside. The longer they dragged this out, the greater the danger.

"Kaima, full speed ahead!"

"You should've done that from the start!"

Miles first slammed a materialized card into his Monster Zone.

"I activate the effect of [Dictator of D.] from my hand!"

[You can send 1 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" from your hand or Deck to the Graveyard; Special Summon this card from your hand.]

"I send 1 [Blue-Eyes White Dragon] from my Deck to the Graveyard, Special Summon [Dictator of D.] from my hand, and continue activating its effect!"

[Dictator of D.] Level 4│DARK│Spellcaster│1200 ATK

The monster, wielding a Blue-Eyes-shaped scepter and clad in dragonscale armor, materialized onto Miles's field.

[You can discard 1 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" or 1 card that mentions it; target 1 "Blue-Eyes" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it.]

"I discard [Blue-Eyes Abyss Dragon] from my hand to Special Summon the [Blue-Eyes White Dragon] I just sent to the Graveyard!"

Exchanging the dragon soul in his hand for the dragon soul in his Graveyard, pure white radiance burst through the space as Blue-Eyes White Dragon appeared with its wings spread.

"ROAR!!"

[Blue-Eyes White Dragon ATK: 3000]

In this Deck, there were a thousand ways to Summon Blue-Eyes. Then, using the power of the strongest normal monster, he'd crush the opponent head-on. Simple and brutal—that was the White Dragon's style.

With Blue-Eyes entering the field, his total Attack already exceeded 4000.

For Yuna, who had ended her turn without Summoning anything, this was enough to end the duel.

Yet, Miles did not attack yet.

No one understood this small-fry deck better than he did.

For Yuna Carlos to end her first turn without Summoning a monster, she had to be holding a card that prevented lethal damage.

If he wanted to break through, he needed to press harder.

"—I activate the Spell Card [Monster Reborn]!"

He threw the Spell into the Duel Disk, and the holy radiance of the resurrection cross shone above their heads.

"Revive from the Graveyard, spread your elegant white wings! Special Summon [Blue-Eyes Abyss Dragon]!"

[Blue-Eyes Abyss Dragon] Level 8│LIGHT│Dragon│2500 ATK

With four elegant wings unfurling from her back, the Abyss Dragon slowly materialized in the glow—despite being a Dragon, her shapely figure was in no way inferior to a human woman's.

A monster designed to be a fatal weak point for Dragon-lover duelists.

"Damn… her figure's even better than Aisha's!"

In person, she was even more overwhelming than her artwork—her proud, voluptuous form combined with her majestic size was dangerously alluring, enough that even Miles had to admit Aisha lost.

Lost completely.

Yuna's fingertip trembled as she tilted her head. "How strange… even though I'm in a possession state, I can still feel anger stirring in the consciousness sleeping beneath? That shouldn't be possible."

"When [Blue-Eyes Abyss Dragon] is Special Summoned and there is a [Blue-Eyes White Dragon] on your field or in your Graveyard, her effect activates!"

[When this card is Summoned or Special Summoned: You can add 1 Ritual Spell or 1 "Fusion" from your Deck to your hand.]

"From my Deck, I add the Ritual Spell [Chaos Form] to my hand!"

The Duel Disk responded to his intent and ejected the card into his hand.

However, at the moment, he only had a Ritual Spell and no Ritual Monster, so he couldn't yet open the Chaos Gate for the MAX Dragon.

"This is enough—battle!"

Guiding both Blue-Eyes into the Battle Phase, their combined Attack reached 6700—the maximum field power Miles could reach on his first turn.

"[Dictator of D.] will clear the way—go! Direct attack!"

The energy rippling from the dragon scepter shot straight toward the empty-field Yuna Carlos.

Yuna immediately revealed her hand, discarding a card.

"I activate [Sphere Kuriboh] from my hand!"

[When an opponent's monster declares an attack: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; change that attacking monster to Defense Position.]

Just as Miles predicted—if she dared to end the turn with an empty field, she had to be holding a hand trap like Kuriboh.

The round, golden Sphere Kuriboh bounced onto the battlefield and forced the attacking [Dictator of D.] into Defense Position, stopping the attack entirely.

"I still have two Blue-Eyes monsters on my field that haven't attacked yet. The real damage starts now!"

Using overwhelming power to crush the opponent—Miles had already become quite comfortable with the Blue-Eyes White Dragon Deck's style of combat.

Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Blue-Eyes Abyss Dragon crossed their pure white, radiant wings, the burst of gale-like energy gathering in their jaws before firing toward Yuna.

"Direct attack, Blue-Eyes!!"

The powerful white light swept across the battlefield, engulfing Yuna and Aisha's slender bodies in an instant.

Little Kaima cheered excitedly, "Instant kill! As expected of my White Dragons!"

Yet when the twin beams of white light dissipated, another Kuriboh was somehow standing on Yuna Carlos's field.

The very same [Sphere Kuriboh] she had discarded earlier.

"Huh. Didn't expect this little thing to be so useful."

Working together with the single Trap she had set earlier, Yuna revived the small-fry Kuriboh right at the crucial moment.

"—I activate the Trap Card [Pinpoint Guard]!"

[When an opponent's monster declares an attack, target 1 Level 4 or lower monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it in face-up Defense Position. A monster Special Summoned by this effect cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects this turn.]

"When you declared your attack, I revived [Sphere Kuriboh] from my Graveyard, and this card prevents it from being destroyed by battle or effects!"

A single Kuriboh formed an absolute defensive wall, blocking both White Dragons.

Miles knew this tactic too well… he had used it himself countless times.

Though the opening hand full of small fry had baffled her at first, Yuna Carlos was still putting real thought into how to fight.

"I understand it completely now!"

At that moment, a glimmer of enlightenment flashed in Yuna's eyes.

"I've fully grasped the way this Deck fights!"

"That fast?" Miles raised an eyebrow.

Before the duel began, Yuna Carlos hadn't even checked the Deck list. And yet within a single turn, she claimed to have "fully mastered" it.

"She's bluffing, Miles!"

Of course, Kaima would say that; she absolutely refused to watch her beloved Blue-Eyes Deck lose to small fry again.

"What's a Kuriboh gonna do? We're still in complete control of the field! Go beat her down!"

Her proud, forceful declarations were accompanied by Kaima's tiny fists punching the air adorably—surely projecting her desire to avenge her Blue-Eyes, which had once been humiliated by a small-fry Deck.

Kids really were simple creatures.

Kaima seemed to have entirely forgotten who the real culprit was—the person who had actually beaten her Blue-Eyes with a small-fry Deck.

"You really think she's bluffing?"

Taking a closer look at Yuna's expression—full of confidence, the complete opposite of her earlier hesitation—Miles could see nothing "bluff" about it.

Still, mastering an unfamiliar Deck's strategy from just a few cards and a single turn of combat… even Miles found that a little exaggerated.

Could the Carlos ancestor, Yuna Carlos, possess some unknown duel strength? Was she actually a top-level fighter hiding behind an innocent façade?

Yuna: '┌(.Д.)┐ When did I ever pretend to be weak?! You're the pig!'

"I set one card and end my turn!"

After setting a card, Miles ended his turn, and Blue-Eyes Abyss Dragon's second effect activated.

[During your End Phase: You can add 1 Level 8 or higher Dragon monster from your Deck to your hand.]

The Duel Disk performed the search and added the Dragon card to his hand. Wrapped in the Abyss Dragon's soft, radiant glow, Miles officially ended his turn.

"My turn—draw!"

As turns changed, Yuna Carlos's field consisted of just one Kuriboh holding off two Blue-Eyes monsters and the Dictator of D.

And judging from the dazed, defeated look she had when seeing her opening hand, Miles had no doubt that the number of small-fry monsters stuck in her hand was far greater than just one.

Even he was curious—now that she claimed to have "completely mastered" the Kuriboh Deck, how would Yuna Carlos respond?

"Let me see it, then—how the great Carlos ancestor plans to fight!"

"Awakening the hidden potential within weak monsters—that must be the true way this Deck battles!"

Hitting the nail on the head, Yuna struck down another monster into her Monster Zone with a flourish.

"I Normal Summon [Relinkuriboh] in Defense Position!"

[Relinkuriboh] Level 1│DARK│Fiend│300 ATK│200 DEF

A second adorable, utterly powerless Kuriboh floated onto Yuna Carlos's field.

"Two Level 1 monsters, huh," Miles muttered.

If Yuna had truly mastered Dark Aisha's Deck, then with two monsters of the same Level on the field, the next logical step—would be an Xyz Summon.

Except a Rank 1 Xyz monster had no way of breaking through two Blue-Eyes on the field.

"Awakening weak monsters' potential… that! Is the fighting style I've chosen!"

Then, instead of overlaying for a Rank 1 Xyz monster, Yuna suddenly slammed another card down from her hand.

"—I activate the Spell Card [Polymerization]!"

"Nani?!"

Neither Miles nor Kaima expected her to Fusion Summon at this moment.

As the spiral fusion vortex swirled open above them, the two DARK-attribute Kuribohs on the field were swept up into the pitch-black storm.

"I fuse the [Sphere Kuriboh] on my field with [Relinkuriboh]!"

"You're fusing two Kuribohs?" Kaima shielded her face with her arms, trying to block the unreasonable black whirlwind. "It's just a Fusion of two Kuribohs… why is it this dramatic?!"

Yuna thrust her arm forward, and the silhouette of a massive, venomous purple dragon manifested behind her.

"O blossoms that bloom in darkness, become one! Become the hands of the clock and point toward a new path! Fusion Summon! Appear! The fanged dragon of gluttony—Starving Venom Fusion Dragon!"
