Chapter 299 - Chapter 11: Magic

The world of Unbreakable Machine-Doll possessed magic, and as such, the Solomon of this world was naturally no ordinary figure-but an extremely powerful magician.

According to the Key of Solomon, the Solomon of this era was capable of commanding the Seventy-Two Pillars of Demon Gods.

Later generations speculated that these so-called Demon Gods were, in truth, seventy-two divine automatons.

However, this remained nothing more than speculation.

King Solomon himself never clarified the matter, and no one else could prove it. As a result, the truth faded into legend.

During his lifetime, King Solomon possessed an immense reservoir of magical knowledge. Unfortunately, the majority of it was lost after his death.

Still, not everything vanished.

A small portion survived and was later compiled by subsequent magicians, eventually forming the ultimate magic grimoire-the Key of Solomon.

Naturally, the book did not contain only Solomon's wisdom. Over the generations, countless top-tier magicians added their own insights and discoveries to it.

After all, only the highest level of magical knowledge was worthy of being recorded in such a tome.

The Key of Solomon contained many astonishing techniques.

For example, the time-related magic "Universal Flow" was recorded within its pages.

Each entry was profoundly complex.

Emiya was not Loki-he lacked the natural aptitude to comprehend these mysteries.

But comprehension wasn't necessary.

He memorized everything.

After using his abilities to recreate a new Key of Solomon, Emiya returned the original to Headmaster Edward.

He only needed the knowledge inside, not the book itself.

Headmaster Edward was genuinely surprised.

He had assumed that once the grimoire was taken, it would be lost forever.

Yet here it was-returned after nothing more than a short trip.

A truly unexpected outcome.

Emiya turned toward Loki.

"How about I send you back?"

Loki nodded.

She had already obtained what she wanted. There was no reason to stay any longer-she might as well return and sleep beside Ais-tan.

"Alright."

With that, Emiya used his abilities to send Loki away, leaving Kimberly alone with the headmaster.

A moment later, Emiya returned and just happened to overhear Headmaster Edward say,

"I understand. I'll leave this matter to you."

Kimberly nodded.

"I understand."

Emiya looked at them.

"Did I miss something?"

"Nothing," Kimberly replied as she turned toward the door. "Let's go."

Emiya glanced at the unconscious automaton on the floor.

"What about her? Are you leaving this automaton here?"

Kimberly thought for a moment.

"Take her with you."

"Alright."

Using telekinesis, Emiya lifted the automaton Alisa and followed after Kimberly.

Headmaster Edward watched Emiya's back until it vanished from sight.

Only then did he withdraw his gaze.

"A goddess, huh..." he murmured softly.

After leaving the headmaster's building, Emiya asked casually,

"What were you two discussing just now?"

"I reported everything that happened tonight," Kimberly replied, "including the Magic Devourer. The headmaster has entrusted the matter to me."

"Oh."

Emiya handed Alisa over.

"Then I'll leave it to you."

Without waiting for a reply, he opened an air portal and returned directly to his dorm.

Kimberly stared at the space where he had disappeared and sighed.

"What a troublesome person."

Back in the dormitory, Emiya wrapped an arm around Medea, who was still busy, and smiled.

"Medea, look what I've got."

She lowered her gaze and saw the book in his hands.

"The Key of Solomon... the ultimate magic grimoire."

"That's right."

"I remember it was in the headmaster's possession."

"So I called Loki over."

"That sounds like outright robbery," Medea said in mild surprise.

She knew Emiya usually preferred open transactions rather than such methods.

Emiya replied indifferently,

"That book didn't belong to Edward in the first place. He stole it from the Golden Rose of the Rose Division. If he can be a thief, I can be a robber."

Medea let out a soft laugh.

She took the Key of Solomon and began reading.

Very quickly, she was completely absorbed.

Unlike Emiya, a so-called "D-student," Medea-disciple of Hecate-possessed an extraordinarily deep understanding of magic.

Even the profound knowledge recorded in the Key of Solomon posed no great obstacle to her.

Seeing her fully immersed, Emiya didn't disturb her.

He lay down on the sofa, watching her quietly, and soon fell asleep.

Morning came quickly.

When Emiya opened his eyes, Medea was still sitting exactly where she had been the night before, turning pages without pause.

In a single night, she had already read through nearly a third of the book.

Whether she truly understood it all... Emiya had little doubt.

Medea was the embodiment of mystery that had once shocked the world.

Her mastery surpassed that of modern magicians-and even exceeded that of a True Magician.

In the Type-Moon world, a True Magician only mastered a single True Magic.

From the standpoint of sheer magical knowledge, they were far inferior to Medea.

Emiya quietly got up.

After washing up, he set the table and prepared a hearty breakfast.

He gently took the Key of Solomon from Medea's hands.

"Good morning, Medea."

She instinctively looked up.

Seeing Emiya's smile, her eyes softened.

"Is it morning already?"

"It is. Let's eat together."

He returned the book to her.

Medea placed it aside and took his hand.

"That sounds nice."

They sat side by side.

Emiya poured her a glass of milk and handed her a sandwich.

"You were completely absorbed last night," he said casually. "What did you learn?"

Medea took a sip and replied slowly,

"A great deal. This book contains many fascinating mysteries. Some are no less profound than the Five True Magics."

Emiya raised an eyebrow.

He knew exactly what she meant.

The First True Magic-the negation of nothingness-was believed to involve the creation of rules themselves.

The Second True Magic, wielded by Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg, allowed observation and interference across parallel worlds-yet even that was inferior to Emiya's inter-world travel.

The Third True Magic concerned the materialization of the soul, granting complete immortality and infinite mana.

The Fourth True Magic remained unknown.

And the Fifth True Magic, wielded by Aozaki Aoko, was closely tied to time.

By comparison, Universal Flow recorded in the Key of Solomon truly stood on the same level.

No wonder Medea had been unable to put the book down.

If she mastered it, she would be fully qualified to compete for the title of Fifth True Magician.

And Emiya himself-if he wished-could even masquerade as a user of the First.

He simply had no interest.

"By the way," Medea said while eating, "I found something in the book that suits you perfectly."

"Something for me?"

"Solomon's Wisdom."

"Magic?" Emiya guessed.

"No," Medea replied. "A meditation method."

She explained that Solomon's Wisdom was a mana-refinement meditation technique.

Edward's vast, almost bottomless mana reserves-and his title as the strongest magician of the nineteenth century-were closely tied to this method.

Legend held that it was the very meditation technique King Solomon himself had used.
