"Come on, Petey! Tell me, do you feel excited when you look at them coming out of the pool all wet? Or, oh, maybe you actually like the boys on the team! Is that it, Petey? Do you like seeing men wearing nothing but tight swim briefs?", giving Pete a relatively hard slap on the shoulder, Gary starts throwing out embarrassing questions, creating a narrative with each sentence, and then manipulating it as if it were a truth he had just discovered simply by looking.
"Yeah, Gary, you're right! Now, can you get out of my way?", agreeing just for the sake of agreeing, Pete tries to move Gary out of the way of the television, without success.
Deciding he's seen enough, Melvin says to Jimmy, turning to leave, "Well, I'm off, Jimmy! I'll let you know when I get the guitar from the idea you gave me."
"All right, I'll check with Miss Peters too", turning his gaze back to Melvin, Jimmy says. During the conversation they had, he had suggested playing the campaign with a guitar by his side so he could sing at any moment.
"Look who it is, Jimmy and… what was your name again? You know what, it doesn't matter. What really matters is the fact that you two came out of the same room together, what was going on in there, huh?", turning his attention to them, Gary, with a playful smile on his face, asks suggestively.
"We were taking turns fucking your mom's old pussy hard! Just the way she likes it!", Jimmy responds with a laugh, which makes Melvin turn his face toward him in surprise upon hearing what was said.
"Haha, very funny", Gary says sarcastically, looking at Jimmy with restrained hatred, which can be seen on his face.
Deciding to change the subject, Jimmy asks, "Yeah, yeah, anyway, don't you ever get tired?"
"Tired of what?", Gary asks, confused, not understanding what Jimmy meant.
"Of tormenting Pete. I mean, at some point it stops being funny, right?", Jimmy continues, elaborating on his question.
Finally understanding what he wanted to say, Gary gives Pete a hard slap on the arm before leaving the boy aside and approaching Jimmy while explaining, "Ah, no, I wouldn't say I torment him! I'm just helping our friend mature! Turning him into a man. Or a woman... or something."
"Hey, Melvin! Hey, Jimmy! Hey, Petey!", at that moment, Algie, walking almost like a penguin, comes in through the dorm door, greeting everyone he's friends with.
"Ahh, Pee Stain! What brings you to our humble abode?", while everyone greeted Algie, Gary says mockingly.
"Hmm... ehh, Jimmy, I need a favor, Bucky went to the auto shop to get some parts and tools for a science project and still hasn't come back, I think he might have gotten into trouble", not really knowing how to respond to that, Algie turns his attention back to Jimmy and explains the situation, wanting his help to sort things out.
"Why don't you go check it yourself?", Jimmy asks, already knowing the reason.
"I have homework… okay, it's because I'm scared… and I have a weak bladder, I just don't do well under pressure", Algie even tries to give an excuse that doesn't make him look pathetic, but seeing that it wasn't working even with Melvin and Pete, he simply gives up the fake bravado and tells the real reason he doesn't want to go.
Before Jimmy can say anything in response, Melvin steps in and says, trying to convince him to help, "Jimmy, Bucky has a brand-new skateboard stored away from a time when he wanted to be cooler, but it never even got used! It's top-of-the-line, professional equipment, and if you help, it'll be yours! And of course, Algie will give you some extra cash for the job too."
"Yeah, that's right! I'll pay you, and you still get a skateboard! Just please help us! I think the Bullies got him, and I don't know if he can last much longer", reaffirming what Melvin said, Algie says, completely worried.
"Alright, he's at the auto shop, right?", agreeing to help, Jimmy asks to confirm, receiving a nod from Algie in response.
"That's it, Jimmy! Right choice, let's show Russell and his friends their place, and then after that, we'll do the same with the other cliques. Soon enough, this school will be completely ours", Gary exclaims with a smile on his face upon seeing that he wouldn't have to convince him to help.
Looking oddly at that idiot, Jimmy says with a disinterested look. He didn't care one bit about who ran the school or not; he would keep doing whatever he wanted, no matter what they said. "I don't give a shit about the school, I don't want that!"
Gary then starts to ramble about his grandiose goals, only to be interrupted midway, "Well, but I want it, and I will get it! And you, my friend, will join me because the benefits are huge..."
"Alright, alright, alright, alright, keep talking to yourself while I go save that idiot", cutting him off before it became an endless monologue, Jimmy says a bit impatiently as he heads for the dorm exit, accompanied by Algie and Melvin.
As soon as Jimmy and company leave the dorm, Gary turns his attention back to Pete, who is watching television, and with a diabolical smile on his face, starts bothering him again.
Outside the dorm, Jimmy tells the two of them to wait there before going to look for Bucky in the school's workshop area, right next to the parking lot.
After a few minutes of walking, Jimmy reaches the parking lot. He then wastes no time and heads toward a side passage next to the abandoned bus.
And as he passes through the gate arch, he comes across Bucky further ahead, being intimidated by four Bullies, who were laughing and making jokes while tormenting him with punches, pinches, shoves, and embarrassing questions.
"Hey, let the idiot go and get the hell out of here!", Jimmy shouts, drawing everyone's attention to himself.
"Don't butt into other people's business, new kid! Nobody called you here!", one of the four Bullies, intimidating Bucky, says upon seeing that the one who had just said that was Jimmy.
"Unfortunately, the problem is mine now. That idiot is a friend, and logically, I'm being paid well to save him, so leave him alone and get the hell out of here!", Jimmy says as he approaches the group and gestures with his hand for them to leave already.
"And since when are we supposed to listen to anything that comes out of your mouth?", another Bully asks, shoving Bucky roughly against the metal fence behind him, as if to show that he could do whatever he wanted with the Nerd at his side.
"You'll listen if you're smart. It's only been a month since I beat the hell out of all of you. Back then, it was eight against one; now it's just four for me to beat! Do you really want to repeat that?", Jimmy argues, making it clear what the outcome would be if they decided to fight. And that makes one of them grow thoughtful, and our protagonist notices this, knowing at that exact moment that he wouldn't need to fight to win this confrontation.
"… Let's go, leave this idiot alone! You got lucky today, Bucky! And watch yourself, new kid! This isn't over", the thoughtful Bully then says after a few seconds of silence, taking the lead of the group and leaving.
"Come at me anytime, when you want to fight, just call me", Jimmy replies with his arms open, which makes one of the Bullies give him an interested look, more specifically, Ethan Robinson, the only black kid in the clique, and also a martial arts enthusiast who was kind of fanatical about the subject.
"Thanks for helping me, Jim!", as soon as the Bullies disappear, Bucky looks at Jimmy and thanks him, slowly recovering from his fearful trembling.
"Yeah, yeah, Melvin said you have a brand-new skateboard you never used! It's mine now, that's the payment for me saving you", not caring much, Jimmy says, making it clear that Bucky's skateboard now belonged to him.
"Uh… alright, the skateboard's yours, it was taking up space anyway! Anyway, I still need to grab some things at the shop before we leave", despite being a bit upset about having just lost one of his belongings, Bucky reluctantly agrees before mentioning that he still had things to do there at the auto shop.
"Alright, let's go", Jimmy says with a sigh, gesturing for Bucky to lead the way while he follows him.
