"I will do my utmost," Shisui replied, taking a deep breath.
The future without Mokgetsu was definitely not the future Shisui wanted. He was determined to prevent Mokgetsu's death and the massacre of the Uchiha Clan.
"There's little information related to Teacher Mokgetsu's death, but the massacre of the Uchiha Clan is quite clear. In the future, the Uchiha Clan is annihilated by a ninja named Uchiha Itachi, who unlocked a Sharingan stronger than the Three Tomoe—the Mangekyo Sharingan."
After briefly recounting the journey to Loulan, Obito immediately informed Shisui about the massacre of the Uchiha Clan.
"Uchiha Itachi?" Shisui felt as though he had heard that name somewhere before.
"Shisui, do you know him? Does this guy seem incredibly gloomy and not at all like a good person?" Obito jibed.
To Obito, Uchiha Itachi wasn't even human; his actions were utterly atrocious.
According to Yamato, not only were the Uchiha ninjas obliterated, but also the ordinary members of the Uchiha Clan, even defenseless women, children, and the elderly were completely wiped out. The only survivors were the perpetrator, Uchiha Itachi, and his brother, Uchiha Sasuke.
If Uchiha Itachi had suffered some kind of unfair treatment and killed those who wronged him, Obito might not have minded as much. But wiping out the innocent ordinary members of the Uchiha Clan was excessive. Obito despised such mindless slaughter.
After much effort, Shisui finally recalled where he had heard the name.
One day, while strolling through the Uchiha Clan Land, he encountered Uchiha Fugaku holding a child, and that child was named Uchiha Itachi.
"Obito, are you sure it was Uchiha Itachi who massacred the Uchiha Clan?" Shisui recalled the slightly blank-faced child and asked.
"Of course. I've confirmed such an important matter multiple times. The name is definitely Uchiha Itachi," Obito replied.
Shisui displayed an expression of disbelief. "I do know Uchiha Itachi, but he seems to have been born not long ago."
He had encountered Fugaku just a few months prior, and it was questionable if Uchiha Itachi was even a year old.
"Ah, still so young?" Obito scratched his head.
"No, we still need to see him. Maybe he's inherently evil."
Because of preconceived notions, Uchiha Itachi already had a negative image in Obito's mind. Even if newly born, Obito felt he was extraordinary.
"Then I'll join you. Visiting Clan Leader Fugaku's home under the guise of seeking guidance on cultivation should be fine," Shisui thought aloud.
Not trusting Obito to investigate alone, he decided to accompany him.
Due to his outstanding performance in the Chunin Examination, Obito was now seen as more talented than Shisui among the Uchihas. With their accomplishments, Uchiha Fugaku would only welcome them.
"That's indeed a good idea; I was thinking the same thing," Obito quickly reassessed his original plan and agreed.
Obito had planned to buy candies, such as lollipops, and hang around near Uchiha Fugaku's home, using them to lure Uchiha Itachi out for investigation.
The two each went home for dinner, then regrouped to visit Uchiha Fugaku's house.
"Good evening, Uncle Fugaku," Shisui politely greeted Uchiha Fugaku.
"Good evening, Clan Leader," Obito greeted, standing beside Shisui.
"Uncle Fugaku, do you have some time now? Obito and I encountered some issues with our training that we don't understand," Shisui continued.
Uchiha Fugaku nodded and invited them in.
Upon entering the courtyard, they saw Uchiha Itachi sitting on the veranda outside the house, lost in thought.
With a smile, Uchiha Fugaku signaled for Itachi to come over, "Itachi, come here and meet the outstanding seniors of our clan."
Uchiha Itachi, hearing Uchiha Fugaku's call, curiously glanced at Obito and Shisui before walking to Uchiha Fugaku's side.
"This is my child, his name is Uchiha Itachi," Uchiha Fugaku said, patting Itachi's head and briefly introducing him.
"Address them as Brother Shisui and Brother Obito. They're the most talented ninjas of the young generation in the Uchiha Clan. Just last year, Shisui even touched your face."
"Brother Shisui, Brother Obito," Uchiha Itachi obediently greeted them as instructed by Fugaku, although his speech was a bit clumsy, likely having just learned to talk.
"Good evening, Itachi," Shisui calmly replied, also nudging Obito with his elbow, who was immersively scrutinizing Uchiha Itachi.
Shisui was relieved to have accompanied Obito, as his behavior was like that of a kidnapper's.
Returning to his senses, Obito promptly greeted Uchiha Itachi.
"Does he seem a little dull? Could he really wipe out the Uchiha Clan?" Obito wondered internally.
He suspected the Uchiha Clan suffered heavy losses after the Third Ninja World War.
Uchiha Fugaku paid no mind to Obito's demeanor; to him, Uchiha Obito was just a slightly older child.
To prevent Uchiha Fugaku from noticing anything unusual, Shisui came prepared with two questions about Fire Release, ready to ask one each with Obito.
Given Uchiha Fugaku's decades-long practice of Fire Release, he promptly answered Shisui and Obito's questions with fluid ease after a brief contemplation.
"To have such an understanding of Fire Release at your age, if Itachi reaches your level of ability by your age, he'd be considered excellent," Uchiha Fugaku marveled.
From their questions, Uchiha Fugaku could somewhat gauge their cultivation progress, and could only describe Shisui and Obito as the twin prides of the Uchiha—Uchiha Shuangjiao.
To Uchiha Fugaku, the Uchiha's revival in the coming decades would largely depend on Obito and Shisui, assuming they matured without being cut short.
"You're too kind, Uncle Fugaku. There's always someone better out there, and Itachi's ninja talent may even surpass ours," Shisui humbly replied.
Uchiha Fugaku smiled. If that were the case, a Uchiha revival was well within reach, and returning to the Uchiha's glory of the Warring States period wouldn't be a dream.
Perhaps due to Obito's keen interest in Uchiha Itachi, after finishing their discussion about cultivation, Uchiha Fugaku gave them space to converse among themselves.
"Itachi, you should learn more from your two seniors," said Fugaku, then temporarily left the room.
Obito's eyes lit up. He had been waiting for this moment, as Uchiha Fugaku's presence had been too obstructive, preventing him from speaking freely.
