Chapter 166 - Chapter 165: Invisible Woman Susan

Finally, Leo turned his attention to the last person—the most tragic existence in the Fantastic Four—Ben Grimm, the Thing.

Everyone else's transformation was manageable; at least they got powers without losing their looks. But Ben… poor guy.

This man would literally turn into a walking rock. Neither human nor ghost.

Even his girlfriend would dump him. Truly tragic—gaining strength only to become more of a Mutant than actual Mutants.

"Hello, Thing Ben. I express my deepest sympathy for your future experiences. Remember to live each day to the fullest."

Leo's tone was solemn, but the amusement in his eyes gave him away.

Thing?

What kind of cursed nickname was that?!

Ben felt a chill run down his spine.

He wouldn't really turn into a rock… right?

"This… this… Mr. Leo wouldn't be joking, would he? How could I turn into a rock?"

Ben's voice trembled with disbelief. But seeing Leo's calm, confident face made him uneasy.

"Haha, don't worry, Ben."

Leo patted him on the shoulder and said with a grin, "In my country, we have a saying: 'There is no loss without gain.' You'll lose something—but you'll gain something greater. Power."

Leo chuckled inwardly. Scaring people with spoilers was weirdly satisfying.

The Fantastic Four looked completely dumbfounded, and Leo felt a pleasant sense of superiority from his little "information asymmetry."

After amusing himself enough, Leo got to business.

"So, how's the preparation going?"

Victor immediately straightened up.

"Hehe, don't worry, Mr. Leo. Everything's ready. We can conduct the first experiment tomorrow."

"That fast?" Leo asked, curious.

"Of course, Mr. Leo," Victor said proudly.

"We've already simulated thousands of test data sets. Everything is within our calculations. We only lacked funding for aerospace hardware. Now that Umbrella's support has arrived, we've completed and assembled the equipment."

When Victor started talking about science, his enthusiasm ignited instantly.

Leo listened quietly, occasionally nodding. "Good. I have high hopes for you all."

He didn't interfere further. Watching the Fantastic Four's fate unfold naturally was far more interesting.

Soon, Victor guided Leo to see their near-Earth spaceship—a sleek, gleaming craft that looked far more advanced than the one from the movies.

Leo frowned slightly.

The design was too good.

In the original timeline, the whole point was that the ship was underpowered—causing the cosmic storm accident that created the Fantastic Four.

But this? This was high-end aerospace engineering—efficient, safe, and over-engineered.

If this thing doesn't explode, how are they supposed to get their powers?

Leo rubbed his chin. "Hmm. Having too much money really does ruin character development."

Reed—Shen Gun De—stood proudly beside the ship, explaining its systems in detail.

"Haha, impressive. You truly live up to your reputation, Shen Gun De. This is way beyond a space shuttle," Leo said, genuinely impressed.

Reed smiled confidently. "Naturally. Give me time and the right funding, and I could make an Iron Man Armor ten times more advanced."

Among geniuses, modesty was optional. Scholars only respected results.

"Alright," Leo said finally, satisfied. "I'll leave you to it. I wish you success tomorrow."

Victor and the others escorted him to the company entrance, all smiles.

Many employees secretly snapped photos.

Seeing Umbrella's mysterious leader visit in person confirmed the rumors—Future Life Technology was officially backed by Umbrella Corporation.

That meant security, money, and untouchable status.

After all, unless aliens literally blew up the planet, Umbrella would never fall.

The next day dawned bright and clear—the day that would forever change the destinies of Victor and the Fantastic Four.

The spaceship launched smoothly. Cheers erupted across the control center and across the globe.

It was humanity's first manned leap into true deep-space testing.

Reporters called them heroes. Online networks exploded with praise. Crowds flooded the streets, waving flags, celebrating the birth of a new era.

"To the sea of stars, humanity is coming!"

Inside the ship, Victor and the others were exhilarated. The systems were stable. Everything worked flawlessly.

For now.

After the initial celebration, they began waiting quietly. According to their data, the cosmic storm would arrive within 24 hours.

They didn't know when exactly—it was just a matter of waiting.

Inside the resting chamber, Susan leaned against the glass of her observation pod, gazing at the endless void outside.

The blue Earth floated below her, wrapped in sunlight and cloud.

Beautiful. Dreamlike.

This moment alone, she thought, made everything worth it.

Suddenly—

"Beautiful, isn't it?"

Susan turned sharply. A familiar, calm voice drifted from behind her.

It was Leo.

She exhaled softly. "You really like appearing out of nowhere, don't you?"

Leo smiled, standing beside her, hands behind his back. "Occupational habit."

"It's fine," she said gently. "Time will pass quickly. Just wait a little longer."

Leo watched her face illuminated by the starlight. "You really love this, don't you?"

Susan nodded, her eyes bright. "Yes. I feel like… this is what humanity was meant to see. The universe… in its true form."

Leo smiled faintly. "Enjoy it while you can, Invisible Woman."

"Hmm?"

Susan tilted her head, confused. "Invisible what?"

Leo only smiled wider, eyes glinting like distant stars.
