Thankfully, tensions slowly died down after a couple of hours had passed. However, it was apparent that the two women did not get along at all.
Salome seemed to be more at ease about the situation, constantly poking fun at the new girl and teasing Ximena for whatever incident they had gone through in the past. However, it was clear that her current behavior was more of a front. If Ximena so much as walked near anyone — whether a Worker, Toy, or Vale — Salome would size her up and back her down with a lethal glare.
As for Ximena, she was still very standoffish, but it seemed she was trying her best to adapt for Vale's sake. Her deep attachment to him struck Vale as odd, but in a way, he understood it. It appeared he was the only being in the world capable of freely interacting with her.
He was probably the salvation she had long been seeking from the world, a world that had kicked her down and betrayed her time and time again.
